Yeah but I can research them on year 10. Long long before I have even seen rare resource techs and long before the galactic market becomes available. There's no tech for that, because it's always possible. If you are able to produce those resources, the galactic market has probably already been founded, and you can sell those resources to those who can't make them at a steep premium. Capitalism at its finest.
In the game I'm doing, I can't produce mole yet, but I can buy it on the market. So I bought some on and used it to make more of this alloy I desesperatly need. And I liked having this kind of desision where I can choose if I want to be self suficient or produce more but be dependent on the galactic market. The answer shouldn't be "hey, get this super early upgrade that you can't use until the Galactic Market is formed". I just think the "building upgrade" techs should be after you get the capacity to make or mine such a material- that's all I'm saying.
I agree with this, it's sort of annoying to have a tech that you pick and put research into, only to realise it's basically dead until you get another tech. Just make "does this player have a way to get the resources needed to use what this research gives them" a generic prerequisite.4. Tech progress is a bit weird. Some techs, such as upgraded buildings, which require rare resources, come way before you could possibly have those resources. Maybe make the respective resource techs a requirement?
1. Democratic leaders don't have traits
2. Authoritan faction doesn't recognize robot pops
6. Graphical stutters and lags when playing on fast/fastest.
If the empire was created before 2.2, none of their rulers will gain traits. If it was created after 2.2, only the first ruler will gain traits, everyone after that is stuck with adaptable and resilient or nothing.1. Democratic leaders don't have traits
2. Authoritan faction doesn't recognize robot pops
Other types of leaders also don't have traits (I started a game with a completely traitless leader under oligarchy).
It's perfectly playable if you get around the few odd bugs. I'd recommend playing on small/tiny though until dynamic sectors get fixed. So what's the overall impression with the state of 2.2? Is this a "wait for the patch after the patch", or one of the rare but dreaded "wait for the patch after the patch after the patch" type of releases?

Overall, in my opinion, the bugs are relatively minor especially relative to previous releases. I'm not experiencing the stuttering, and I can understand how that would be very frustrating. But other than that, really what the game needs most at this point is a balancing pass, and a little polish. There are a few specific empire types right now that are not working very well, so I wouldn't play those or have the AI play those. Still plenty of options to have an enjoyable experience, again, at least in my opinion. I'm liking it so much I'm actually going to take the day off to play, and I wouldn't normally.
