This is addressed particularly to those with experience - the betazoids. In your opinion, which nations are the most fun to play, and why?

Of course, winning is no prerequisite for having fun - getting run over as Poland and pulling off extra two months of resistance can be fun, too.

Most interesting are the nations that NO ONE suspects rising like...Ethopia, I once made them great in HOI (many many attempts, I was lucky that Britain helped me) and it was a blast after that.

Another good one is Communist China

Did any of you succeed in making Belgium or Tibet really strong?

I've tried Belgium, it's so hard not because of their industry, just that whatever you do the Germans seem not to care and blitz through you anyway

I do not really see how Tibet and Belgium fall into the same category...Belgium was a major industrial power, and a colonial one at that. It certainly should have some potential. Not so with Tibet.

Besides, as Belgium you might as well join the Axis.

True it was a awesome industrial power (especially in the 1800's) but German is just so....unstoppable as poor Belgium, I think I'll have another go as them, I'm sure I can beat them this time! *Fades off in evil laughter*

As a beta I tended to play as the UK, partially because the naval system is so much improved, & partially because I like the sorts of strategic decisions one has to make as the UK - Do I send the BEF to the continent? How much to the Med? What about Singapore?

Plus, it's nice to be able to start the war fighting a country like Italy. :)

I for one hope that playing Japan will be the challenge it promised to be in the first HoI. Claiming supremacy in the pacific is no small feat for the smallest major nation! :)

Japan is in some ways the most interesting, as it combines quite different land and naval challenges, as does UK. But Germany and Soviets are of course the big challenges as usual. For a change of pace, all kinds of countries are interesting - I've enjoyed Poland, for instance.

I dunno...

I've had great fun playing Sweden in SP.
United Kingdom is probably my favorite to play though, both in MP and SP.
Germany, Japan & USA is fun as well..

Hello,

Germany are great for the beginning as you have plenty of everything (ok, you need to trade some resources) and once the war starts you cannot just have everything - especially in airforce and land army. Attack Scandinavia or not? What about England? Blitz over Soviets earlier or wait longer? typical questions :).

Italy is very good to play as they have serious economical troubles on the beginning, somewhat outdated army and great need for tech support.

Japan with the USA waiting to enter is a call too.

Salve,

Vv

Japan, IMO. They have the navy, the airforce and even some army to boot. And the soft underbelly of the weakling colonial powers... :D

I agre with fsp,
Japan most interesting, complex and one of the most chalngeous. China is not a piece of cake anymore, it will be very hard to annex it before the main war spread out...

Very hard if not nigh on impossible for a smaller nation like Japan annexing such a vast country as China, considering China is broken up in many more provinces, the Chinese warlords, partisan activity, etc, etc... challenging, but interesting.
