Long story short, my ERE is huge, and is buckeling under internal strife, Ilkhanate invasions and the darn Golden Hord to the north. Ive no shortage of troops as of yet, but its all terribly splintered. Would it be a good idea to start handing out kingdoms, to have a somewhat united front incase the hordes show up next time

depends. generally, ony faraway kingdoms(i.e. aragon, mauritania, arabia ect.) are worthwile to give away, as it also makes you lose men. basicly, its only worthwile if its easier to keep that king in line and factions OTHER than independence bother you. once those area's go de jrue and you keep your dukes culture and religion uniform with you independence isnt a problem anymore.

Even though it's a pain in the butt to mobilize all your troops separately, I'd rather keep the taxes I get from my Vassals then give out Kingdoms. Trying to stop those Kingdoms from merging is also a very expensive process.
