I agree, the increased costs will mean that there will be much harder decisions to make that that such a rule may be unnecessary.

I must say that I am very curious to find out, as long as it doesnt involve lots of pain....

I would say they are still far too cheap (and there are already quite a few mighty ones built, adding further imbalances to a sudden switch to 1.06).
In Europe they may be bearable, but the colonial ones should really be outlawed. It's outright impossible to take the indian CoT's with their current fortification levels because the support limits of these provinces are really extremely low (8 for mangalore for example). L3 should be more than enough for any colony (how realistic is fortress building in a provinces with such low infrastructure anyways?).

I agree that they ought to be more expensive overseas.

Perhaps one could tie the limit to the province support limit. Something like, the maximum fortification level should be half of the province support limit rounded down?

That would allow max fortresses for all provinces with a limit of 12 and above. Not a real limitation. max L3 in colonies would be a simple rule, easy to understand and easy to implement. A colony would defined as in the manpower and cc rules: not on the same continent and no road access to capital.

I would back Waldo's rule addition (I think), although it would be an MGC5 issue and I think we would need to hear from groups that have used the rule and see what they thought.

Play on tonight if you can get most of you and some stand in's- I cant tonight as I have to see my Father. With V1.06 there might be alot of people on vnet.

Conscription centres

I had comenced to build 3 conscription centres make sure and amend that i think removing 2 would be fair;) but no doubt others will not. :)

When you see the manpower England and Spain can deploy in the colonies bet you wish you had a navy now:D

Economy modifier in army support limit

Another thought while we are at the seaside, does a blockade interfere with the economy modifier for the support limit? (it should) That could mean up to a half loss or 15k-20k troops for continental powers in real terms if this is the case I really bet you wished you had a navy :D (i like this patch more and more)

Seeing those resources are calculated on the basis of monthly income, I'd say the amount of those resources go down as ur monthly income goes down (like thru blockades).

Well in EU1 we would have only 42 years to go- wow! Thats only a handful of sessions worth of play left.

Today had a classic comment, normally Khal steals the scene in my eyes with humerous comments (I still laugh every time he says 'where Waldo?'), but after a devastating civil war and a 139,000 rebel army in london, Magic signs in not with an 'in' but with 'civil war'. Made me laugh alot.

I will edit this post later with some info but i am off out now.

Here are the players

Poland - PJL
Brandenberg - Khal
Sweden - Peter E
Russia - Mowers
Ottomans - Wyvern
Austria - Eliasar
Spain - Mulliman
France - Waldzweg
England - Archduke

Well this was such a devastating civil war.
After implenting 1.06 I disbanded 3/5 of my army to keep my army maitenance down a bit. And after releasing two vasalls to get my BB down the remaining 2/5 of my 500k army decide to go on civil war including 135k in London.

Well after two years rebel fighting around the globe while every cristian king gets out his popcorn and supported by a royal marriage enjoys the show.
Sorry the situation was hectic so only one screenie if Prince Eugene gets it up lateron. Thx as always Eugene!:)

A quick summary of what happened 1738-1750

Not a bad session but lots of crashes which wasnt good.

Poland was finally dropped as a playable nation. I should have done it some time ago but as claims that this would only benefit me would have gone off and because its hard to ask someone to step down after such a long time it was delayed for too long. Anyway PJL was very gracious and could be classified 'retired' with a healthy clap back to the pavilion.

This obviously started a feeding fest on Poland. With Brandenberg, Sweden and Russia attacking Poland.

Most people had to disband considerable numbers of troops during the opening of the game and try and adjust to the new game.

England suffered a very nasty civil war which took it off the international cicuit formost of the session, although those mighty fortresses where suddenly a real pain.

The Swedes had a quiet session until they attacked Poland.

France took another part of the Holland, making it just a one province nation. France also constructed large numbers of CC's.

Spain had a very quiet session. One wonders what it was up too.

Austria took parts of modern day Burma but other than that also had a quiet session.

Brandenberg continued to develop and finished off with an attack on Poland.

The Ottomans had a quiet session until they attacked the Russians driving up into the Crimea. The opening battle was won by the Russians but at this point we stopped.

GAME NOTE

I would really like to finish this game soon. So I am going to try and get 20-30 years a week done. Which would mean that we can complete before the end of the month.

The Ottomans may have appeared quiet to the casual observer, but in 1740 we had the "Decentralizing effect of the Provincial System" event and we chose action_c which perhaps wasn't the wisest thing to do on reflection (though I didn't know about the 1.06 stability bug at the time). Anyhow the event gave us -6 stability and +6 revolt risk for 12 months. Well the first year was pretty hairy to say the least with revolts popping up left right and center, though thankfully things settled down after that. Recovering stability was more of a problem and it wasn't until near the end of the session that we finally saw positive figures again. The stability slider bug really sucks for the Ottomans.
