I am playing the GC 1.03 as France and got into a war with Castille around 1450. I sent a fleet with an invasion force to take the canary islands. After doing so, I sent my fleet back to Provence.
I then moved on to other things and didn't watch my fleet. About 2 years alter I decided to use the fleet again and couldn't find them. I checked the "book" and discovered that they were in provence. Went back to the main screen and confirmed that they weren't there, nor anywhere between the canaries and provence. I saw that I was still paying for maintenance on the ships but they were nowhere to be found.
I decided that it must be a bug of sorts and started to rebuid my fleet. Then about 15-20 years after they left the canary islands my fleet suddenly reappeared in provence.
Anybody have an explanation for this other than they were road trippin' to some nude beaches in the south of France?

I had this problem once witha fleet in Provence, I thought it might have been due to the ownership change(from Bavaria to me, England) but when I clicked on where the fleet should be in the Provence port, I got a CtD. The next time, I started building 1 ship in that prov, whenit finnished, I was then able to click on my normal fleet.

You know, I think I saw something like this once on the Twilight Zone. Maybe they got sucked into a black hole into another dimension and then spit back out 20-years later, not having appeared to have aged at all. :D Whoa! Spooky!

While I can't be certain, I think that my fleet reappeared only after I built a new ship in provence. As I had given up any hope of seeing my poor fleet again, (while continuing to pay for its maintenance) I wasn't really paying attention to what happened just before they reappeared.

I had a similar problem during a siege, Cyprus I believe. My fleet was parked in the harbor, and the siege was ended because the leader of my alliance concluded a peace with Venice. I was able to control my army, but the fleet was stuck in port, and I couldn't move them, nor were they kicked out as usual when peace is concluded.:(
