DIPLOMATIC HABITS OF PORTUGAL CONQUEST

Portugal consists of many parts across the world:

Continental Mainland

Azores

Cape Verde and Bissao

Central Africa, West

Central Africa, East

Macao

East Timor

What is the problem? International Law.
Being in the Alliance allows Spain to use allied sea bases and lands, but creates the following complication. According to norms of International Law, conquered territory is always joined to nearby member of alliance. So, after conquering territories in Africa could be joined to UK, France or South Africa. But of course, it is not in the interest of Spanish Republic.


What to do? Swift annexing!
To capture maximum Portuguese lands we should annex Portugal as soon, as possible. So, we need to capture all victory provinces quickly.

The most difficult in this plan to capture Azores - they are guarded, and to capture African provinces, especially regions difficult of access.

For fast capturing we plan simultaneous attacks on all parts of Portugal, so we need many transports to attack islands and coasts. Also we should consider optimal directions of attack.

PORTUGAL CONQUEST

11.04.1938 00:00. All troops are placed in starting positions and ready to attack.​

Spanish Ambassador in Portugal declares to Portuguese Governement that from this moment our states in war.

Allies enter the war.​

Battle for Azores

The best commandos are chosen to storm Azores naval base. Mountain troops have better organisation and more skilled in amphibious assault. Also, artillery is very helpful in this operation.


Battles for Mainland

Modern infantry could not help versus outnumbered republican forces. Even night and rain could not stop spanish brave army.


Landing operations

Battle for Lissabon

The capital is captured. So, we are waiting for African success only.


Jungles of Angola

The slowest part of conquest. We have to wait until May, 3.


The end of Portugal

In result, we are the most belligerent country in the world for this moment.​

Yeah, if something catastrophic happens against Germany then it least you won't be fully annexed. Just banished to the worthless colonies in Africa. Yay.

That won't happen because the Germans are never going to able to break through the Pyrenees line....at least I hope.

GEOPOLITICS. RED FOX CUNNING​

The main goal of Spanish Republic is expansion.
So, we're trying to find the most optimal way to grab as much territory, as we can.

Conditions:

1. Soon war between Allies and Axis(I assume that Italy will join). Chances of Axis are high.
2. Not soon, but probable war between Axis and USSR. Chances of Axis are doubtful.
3. Joining Japan to Axis. Joining USA to Allies. Chances of Axis will fall.


Considering all this facts, Spanish High Command considers the following plan:

1. Staying with Allies until possible start of the war.
2. Leaving Allies and wait for active actions in Europe.
3. While main Allies forces will fight in Europe and North Africa, Spain attacks Allies in Central and South Africa (Maybe Belgium will be attacked before it joins Allies).

Also, grab colonies in South America.

4. When Germany defeats France defend northern border from possible attacks. But we are not going to fight with Germany now.
5. Possible attack on Ireland and maybe England. Also, possible grab of DEI.

6. Anyway, before USA joins Allies we need to make peace with Allies.
7. By any cost we are trying to stay at peace with USA.
8. When USSR and USA begins beat Axis, declare war to Germany and grab France and maybe Germany.

Strategic advantages vs Allies:

1. Striking Gibraltar will close Mediterranean to UK, so Italy could easily defeat Allies in Africa.
2. Striking South Africa will open "second front" in Africa.


Strategic advantages vs Axis:

1. Closed Gibraltar.
2. Sahara barrier.
3. "Second front" or maybe even "third" in Europe.


The result we want to obtain:

1. All Africa or its greater part
2. Large Europe territories.
3. Some lands in South America
4. Some lands in South-East Asia and Oceania.


Open questions:

1. Join Comintern finally, or not?
2. What to do with conquered territories, specially with Africa? Liberating african states will increase total IC and recourse production of our empire. On the other hand, we could not join any alliance after that.
3. Join Brazil or not? If yes, we could not join Comintern.
4. How to defend all our colonies? (assuming, AI has no naval range limimts)
5. How to guarantee peace with Axis until we DoW them?
