I'm playing hands off as Mataram, so this has nothing to do with me. Helvetia and Saxony apparently made a lot of people mad, because there were a series of alliances that declared war on Helvetia in an attempt to cut them down. Helvetia lost Milan to Mantua and Hannover to Mecklenburg, but otherwise remained intact. Saxony, however, lost all three of its extra provinces to rebels.

They have a very high quality setting on their army, and alot of land, even in the start.
They beat stronger countries if the stronger country has a weak army. (And as such beats weaker countries hard if they have a weak army).

Makes sense however they do tend to be eaten very quick by either or both of

This is nuts!

Welp, somebody in Helvetia's alliance declared war on Burgundy and Burgundy somehow remained Helvetia's vassal despite losing a province to the Swiss and one to the Palatinate. And the Papal States took Flandern and Oldenburg in an unrelated war of opportunity.

I figure Helvetia stands a chance of diplo-annexing Burgundy with a size differential like that. Helvetia's BB is now 34.5, Sweden's is 30 on the mark, and they're at war with Denmark now. It'll be a race to see who cracks the BB limit first.

In other news, Hungary annexed Austria a while ago, but a two-province Austria just revolted. It's only five years 'til the Bohemian annexation event; if Austria survives until then, it'll probably last long enough to annex Hungary. Austria may be invincible.

EDIT: Austria just annexed Bohemia. The Habsburgs are invincible.

Yeah, it took me over two centuries to achieve less than what they have achieved already.

EDIT: Once again, Helvetia has topped its last success.

Two things: 1) I did not expect that it would be Bourbonnais to finally annex Burgundy; 2) Bavaria, Wurzburg and Mainz are all Helvetia's vassals.

I'm looking forward to the almost inevitable war between Helvetia's alliance (the Swiss, their vassals, and a resurgent Austria) and France + Pope/Scotland/Hessen. It'll be quite a war to watch, I am sure.

Update: Helvetia just annexed Mantua. Badboy score is now 38.2/40.

Update 2: Just took Istria from Venice! BB = 39.7/40. So close!

Very impressive. Instead of turning the Western German states white, Austria turned them red-orange... They're an ass crouched between two burdens though. They'll have a tough time of it when Austria is no longer in their alliance with France meanwhile sitting on the other side.

If they can keep Austria's favor for a few decades, they could make the great war interesting though. They're the strongest Swiss I've seen.

Did the Swiss build Fine Arts Manufactory and Refinery by themselves, or did they get it by event?

Given that they are so powerful, it might be interesting to edit the save, and give them a colonizing AI, as well as some explorers/conquistadors.

Cool I'm liking this non neutral Switzerland. BTW do you know that the ai doesn't actually get affected by BB wars when over the limit? It just makes them more likely to get a civil war (when at peace that is).

Brian Roastbeef: Right now they're outside of any alliance and they've lost their vassals, but nobody's declared war on them. I think they're afraid; the Swiss have over 100,000 troops.

mmrnmhrm: They built the manufactories by themselves. And this hands-off game has been run without leaders/explorers/conquistadors just to see what Europe does without the New World. The first test game (run by Lachlan) ended up with Swedish domination of Northern Europe.

Duke of Wellington: I'm liking it, too, especially since I've been playing as them in another game and struggled for 2/3 of what they've achieved with ease. I did not know that BB didn't affect them.

For a long time, France had military access through Helvetia and didn't give it up because it was their only land route from Northern France to Southern France. France canceled that treaty, though, and their relations are terrible, if not actually -200. I really think the majors are afraid of the Swiss.

Slag: The Dutch Revolts events don't fire for anybody that isn't France, Spain or Austria. Gelre revolted from France and is now the sole province of the Netherlands. The Swiss keep a moderately large garrison in the Low Countries so revolts don't spread well.

Welp, I don't know who they fire for, then. But I can tell you they don't fire for the Swiss, because the Swiss don't have any historical events. (I'm using vanilla 1.09.)
