They are doing pretty well there, they don't normally get so far into France.

In my Actual OE game, Spain was in War vs. French Catholics and was occupin everything to Bourgogne...Also controlled great part of Italy, having provinces in the Baltic. It was very big too

Well the huge empires era is gone i think, it ended in a world war. Ottomans attacked mughal empire and then Austria used it to attack Ottomans with an alliance of Russia Spain and Portugal, meanwhile Sweden Lithuan and Teutonic Order attacked austrias alliance, technically it ended in victory in favor of ottomans but the long war and the huge war exhastion caused all the empires to crumble and within 20 years 10-15 new countries were created, Teutonic order reached a top size of 18 provinces before they got completly butchered in war against a huge alliance later, where portugal pommern lithuan russia palinat austria and sweden each got a piece of it.

So anyway, while replaying England (I tried to gain an upper hand on France, Portugal and Spain at the same time in the old game, didn't work) I asked myself "what the hell is that huge blob-ish thing in the benelux area" It's Gelre!

How the hell did one-province Gelre go from a one-province minor, soon to be annxed by Burgundy, go to become a major player in Europe?! They're not about to fall apart, oh no, in fact they're best friends with Portugal, Savoy and Navarra... The world's gone mad!

If I am playing Poland, I am conquering Russia. And Germany. And the Balkans. To me it seems there is nothing else to do with Poland then to conquer a lot and keep your country together in the process. Unless you count the colonization of Siberia.

Yes that in Turkey is them, too.
They profited from a weak russia as muscowy got slaughtered by golden horde right after the start and novgorod never puts up a great performance.
But I´m not sure how they managed to grab northern germany, as the white blob should normally have directed it´s anger towards them.
I fought one war with austria between 1618 and 1628 where I killed off all their thirty-years-war-leaders, but poland was almost that big before.
They just diploannexed prussia as the Edict of Tolerance came around, finally seizing control over Danzig.
