Thanks guys!
To at least bring some element of closure to it, I was able to take the game into the late 1600's before I lost it, and in that time, managed to unify the Germanic states under my rule (three peaceful annexations, with the rest requiring some.....shall we say....forcible convincing), and had colonized/captured the east coast of North America from Maine to Santee, conquered the Iroquois and the Aztec (beat Spain there!), and largely kicked the Spaniards out of North America. Had a tough time with BB wars for a number of years for eating so many minors, but once the economy was up and humming, it was a pretty simple matter to keep everybody off my back, and what steel didn't do, a bit of coin and diplomacy took care of.
My biggest, grimmest war came when I ate Bohemia in a single bite and exposed myself to a p*ssed off Austria and Poland....touch and go for a while, but in mid stream, Poland imploded and was slowly devoured from all fronts....after that, things were pretty quiet in Europe and almost all of my attention was focused on the New World.
Things will be (and have been thus far) very different in my new game....not nearly as fast, since I'm trying my best not to make use of loans at all....that's pretty harsh, but it's getting there....
