James I Part 1 (1419-1422)
Well as I start off, the country has a stability of +2, a max manpower of 5

and a treasury of 98 ducats.
We are at war alongside our French allies against the English, Burgundy and Brittany.
We have an entirely Catholic nation, so I set this slider at the max(10). I move the hated muslims to 0 and the orthodox faith has neither a bad nor good effect on my country.
My DPs are:
Aristocracy - 8
Centralization - 2
Innovativeness - 4
Mercantialism - 8
Offensive - 5
Land - 6
Quality - 4
Serfdom - 8
I will leave these, and only events will change them.
I set the treasury slider to 20%, the trade to 20% and the land to 60%. The rest are at 0%. My first priorities are Land 5 and Trade 3, though not until around 1500.
I have an army of 10000 infantry and 5000 cavalry in Lothian under Buchan Douglas (3/2/3) and an army of 9000 infantry and 1000 cavalry in Strathclyde. There is a 14k English army on the border under General Clarence.
I have a navy of 5 warships, currently in port in the Grampians.
Immediately the English army moves towards Scotland. I feel we have no chance against it, but I grin and bear it. The army gets to Lothian on the 18th of January and a fierce battle ensues. 11 gruelling days later, Buchan Douglas emerges victorious, having slaughtered 11000 of the English and lost under 3000 Scots.
Feeling threatened by us, the Bretons offer a White Peace, which we accept. We have nothing against them.
Happy with our victory, the people are brought fully together against the English. (Stab at +3) We move our armies to Northumerland, where they arrive on February 26. A short (5 day) battle is lost, and we retreat to Lothian. We order 6000 new knights in Lothian and the Army waits for them.
On the 30th of March, an army of 5000 English forces a further retreat to the Grampians, and we wait until June before moving back to fight them. Before the main army is back in Edinburgh, the new recruits battle the English. They are soon joined by the rest of the army.
The English are killed to a man. There only remains an army of 6k in Northumberland, still led by General Clarence, which we move to attack. By July 26, we have killed General Clarence, and destroyed the English border force. We start a siege in Northumberland. Several armies of only 1000 men attack, thinking they can break the siege, only to be killed horribly by Buchan Douglas.
On the 1st of January I see that the census tax was a meagre 14D
This shall be a slow growing economy.
By June 1420, the walls in Northumberland are down to -5. We shall soon have the county.
At the start of August, an army of 1000 Burgundians lands in Lothian, but they are of little threat.
August 26, we now control Northumberland. We move down to Lancashire to attack their walls.
A few months later, an army of 5000 appears in the Midlands. They are slightly worrying, but in March 1422, an Internal Trade Ordnance raises the taxes in the Highlands for the war effort. This lifts the country's sprirts slightly.
In mid april, the English attack our siege force. It is now at 8000, but they are no match for our 20000. As they are killed, Lancashire falls to us, and we offer the English peace, demanding Northumberland and 100 ducats. The English refuse, so we move our armies to Yorkshire.
In June, Burgundy asks for 2 ducats in exchange for peace. I happily accept, although this empties my treasury.
Also in June, my 5 warships beat 6 English warships, and immediately after, beat a further 3, all without losing a ship.
At the start of July, we demand Northumberland and 100D from the English and they accept!
We have Northumberland, and I speculate how to spend my money.
