Hello!
On December 31st I finally decided to go ahead and purchase Cities: Skylines as a birthday gift. My computer might not be able to handle a very large city, but I will try (and I will probably be getting a new, better computer in about half a year so).
Here I will preview my first city. For this city I have decided to create my own map, using tutorials and vice versa to try and understand how a 'good map' should look like and especially how I can make a map that works well. I wanted a map that had a pretty large area to build on. Using the terrain generator mod I generated a random terrain and worked from that. After a few tries I managed to get something that seemed cool. I added in sea levels and some beaches and this is what came out of it:
As you can see the land features a large 'mountain' that's pretty flat on the top of it. Flat enough to build loads of cities on it. On the sides I have added a few beaches - two to be exact. There is a third 'beach', but it has no sand and I will be using that for mainly industry usage, I think. I am planning to at least add three large cities to the map. One in the center, or at least around the center of the 'mountain' and two by the beaches. I am going to add roads and stuff to it now and as a final touch I will be adding some trees.
I kinda wish ore and oil spots looked less... uhh... ugly ;v;
