A REPORT OF THE LAKEVALLEY DICTATORSHIP
AO REUOMAY LUKUVOLKMAS DYKTAMASAOS

A Report, With the Permission of the Second Republic of Wabig, Of the Second Kingdom of Wabig.
Written in the Year 2076 of the Hiramian Calendar, and of the Republic the Third.
A Text-Only Report to the People.

OOC: In this text, the city Lakevalley is part of the "Second Republic of Wabig", a liberal parliamentary democracy that is bordering the country "Hiramia-Okfew", referended as "Hiramia". In addition some words are going to be foreign, this is from a fictional language "Wabiger". This text is a bit lore-intensive, so what you need to know is that there may be some references to the TV show "Colony" on Netflix, in addition to references to the city, especially on the last few paragraphs.

In 2043, there was a civil war in Wabig, between the Dictatorship of Lumaoi (the name of the dictator in charge before 2043) and the Republicans and Monarchists. Lakevalley was the capital of the dictatorship, with it's population peaking above 100,000 by the time of the late dictatorship times. The civil war decimated Lakevalley, with buildings all around the city being destroyed and the state of the disaster bunkers getting so horrible that garbage and water services were non-existent and people were forced to escape or die. The death collection services were also shut down, this resulted in corpses not being collected. Lakevalley was the sight of several bombing campaigns as said before, in addition to attempts by both sides to regain the capital city, by the revolutionaries and by the dictatorship once the revolutionaries managed to take the city.

By 2044, the war was over. The First Republic of Wabig was declared in the Government House overlooking the National Plaza, with the statue of the old King Alexander XV (of Hiramia and Okfew)'s head being toppled, and the statue being replaced by the statue of the first President of Wabig, Michael Lukoffyn. The early Republic was stable, the Republicans winning most of the elections up towards 2060, when a major political event happened - the death of the third President, Jim Minnon - by assassination. This shed the military's support of the Republican cause, and every year until 2064 there was an election, a new President, and unfortunately this helped the Monarchists consolidate power. The military had backed the absolute monarchists, and the Republic was gone.

In 2064, the Second Kingdom of Wabig was declared. King John was declared the new monarch of Wabig, and he was supported by the military, who gave him and the Monarch's Representative, John Paramount, absolute power. Lakevalley continued to grow during this time, however by this point unemployment climbed towards 20%, housing started to run out of capacity and an expansion of the city of Lakevalley was required. However, the country was doing great - the economy was booming and Wabig managed to reach $1 trillion in it's GDP statistics, their sports teams were beating tier-one sports teams, like the Pajahwrsk FC (comparable to Juventus, a football team based off the capital of Hiramia-Okfew, Pajahwrsk), and HBT-Okfew (a motorsports team competing in Formula Hiramia (our version of Formula 1) comparable to McLaren or Mercedes in today's Formula 1). The dictatorship, however, only cared about money and it's army and secret police. Walls were constructed to form barriers around districts, especially on the Green Zone (suburban neighborhood across the river from Lakevalley itself), the Entertainment District (unofficial name for a district with high rise green buildings and entertainment spots), and the Rottenhai District (another unofficial name for a section of uptown that bridged over to the Green Zone).

These districts came with six or seven story walls (flood walls) with liquids which made the walls slippery, forcing climbers to fall to the ground below, and on the top of the walls came anti-aircraft stations, drones to perform surveillance and murder, and tunnels to help soldiers move easily from one district to another. These districts also came with specially designed checkpoints (toll booths) allowing people to legally enter and exit the districts. Buildings and roads were destroyed without thought to build these checkpoints and walls, which could take up one city block wide of space - forcing people to remain confined to their district. These residents had to use either their own district passports, which were good for 30 trips around the city using checkpoints only, in addition to international passports and ID cards.

The people were stunned when these checkpoints and walls were prepared, and this was the cause for unknown missiles to land on these walls, the anti aircraft cannons being unable to stop the missiles and the people considering the fact it may have been from an outer space peoples. The walls were destroyed and eventually missiles were launched, a potential outer space war between an Earthly kingdom and a outerworldly peoples eventually resulting in defeat for Wabig. When these missiles also hit the districts, causing death and fire and destruction to many areas inside these districts, this causes the people to rise up in revolution against the current government.

The people in those districts, and in addition to City Island (a island next to Lakevalley proper which was settled by the first citizens of the city), whom had already been radicalized towards communist ideals. Those same ideals led to the destruction of the island back in the old dictatorship of Lumaoi, with only six buildings in the edge of the city managing to survive, and all the citizens of the island shipped off to labor camps to build larger projects, like the nearby (five miles away - a bit outside the scope of the city proper) Lakevalley Dam System. In addition to the island being radicalized, the bridges connecting the island to the city were destroyed, not allowing any supplies to enter without ferry access, thus trapping the residents of the island inside. Revolutionaries after taking the city managed to build a small bridge of wood to move small supplies and peoples through, though it was the first thing destroyed by bombing runs by the kingdom. During this time, however, the Republic began focusing on building the city once again. There wasn't as much street fighting as in the transition from dictatorship to Second Republic, so more time was put in cleaning streets and rebuilding buildings - and making new boulevards for better nightlife scenes, something the dictatorship never put thought in.

There was one major exception - City Island. There was major street fighting in that area, with the dictatorship preparing to invade Lakevalley proper via City Island. These soldiers were stationed in various factories around the river, and at various times sent soldiers to try to take City Island. Much of the time the battle resulted in these boats being taken and the soldiers killed. However, a mass attack happened a few nights later, where the Island was still sleeping, and the area was taken. However, they took the edge of the island, and not the boulevard that used to contain the major bridge to connect the island to the city. The partisans stole the only horse in the island stationed at the nearby elementary school, and build up barricades of wood, desks, chairs, and various large items. The police station was empty - the partisans had already taken the gear, and were getting ready for a fight.

The dictatorship's soldiers began to strike at the closest barricade towards the boulevard, both sides firing guns towards each other and both sides unable to move past their side of the island. The Republic had air superiority, but the generals decided not to bomb City Island. The Republic, however, continued to move by ferry supplies and other items, like ammo and rations. Morale was also high, propaganda stated that the Republic was fighting against the dictatorship's last stand, the Republic using fear based propaganda to raise morale, in addition to gifts from across the country and various other items. Eventually, the shipments from the dictatorship to the soldiers in the island stopped, as soon enough the soldiers across the river were attacked from behind and surrendered, as a result, the soldiers on the island were stuck with the supplies they had. The partisans then planned a final rush. With the horse holding a large spear with a red flag, about a hundred partisans charged towards the soldiers, who had recently lost their supply line, and soon enough the partisans battled relentlessly with the soldiers, and both sides lost a huge amount of their soldiers. However, the soldiers surrendered, and the island was back with the Republic's hands.

The country, and the capital city, was liberated. The President of Wabig (the first one of the Third Republic) Alexander Julinsky declared the Republic official, and ordered that construction projects to renovate and re-build industrial and infrastructure areas, as a result in a few years (one term or four years of Julinsky's presidency) managed to build up the population from near 30,000 to around 65,000. The dictatorship was over, and prosperity came back to Lakevalley.
