The lack of flavor for Asian nations is unbelievable

If you talk about Southeast Asia region (which has been added a lot, but still lack a lot as well, show just how underdeveloped the whole region was), I would agree with you...

But if you include the whole Asia (both East and South Asia), I doubt how could you be disappointed...
While East Asia religion is still barebone, the region still has a lot of Unique Government type and a lot of flavor event...
And Japan, Ming, Manchu, and Ayuthayya (not counting the Indian Unit Pack) do have unique model so hardly only Japan...

Weird. I've just checked the models out. Manchu, Ming and non-sunni hordes have the same generic asian model for me.

The worlds saddest song for the worlds smallest violin.

Lol true. The Paradox Forum Orchestra seems to have the world's largest collection of smallest violins.

I do not think that every instance of a unit will represent what is possible for that unit to look like. For instance, I have seen mods where they claim to make unit sprites "more common" as in, because there is a chance the unit gets the unique sprite, or still generic, it increases that chance. This thought leads me to believe that you won't always see it that way. Not sure why it's this way, but I have all unit packs, and I have only seen them well. Less than would have expected :p

To be fair, they did make a muslim advisor portrait mod. I don't think this addition would be unwelcomed... Just no need to be so upset about this when there are, like mentioned, people who can't even play the game without crashing each time an event happens.

I have actually been making a list of Japan specific events as I play them. Thought you might be interested to see:
  • "Incident at Honnoji" A general betrays and kills you. (No matter if Diamyo, Shogun, Emperor, or any other factor, this can fire.)
  • "Western Trade" The westerners bring new ideas and new gods. (Suffer a modifier that gives -5% missionary strength, -3% mil tech, and -1 yearly prestige)
  • "Fuki-e" A government official began inquisiting against Christians. (Spawn an army of Catholics bigger than your force limit and convert the province back to Shinto)
  • "Province Converts" A province has converted to Catholicism. (Self-explanatory)
  • "Religious Tensions" Religious frictions in our province have gotten out of control. (Either an army of peasant rebels or an army of Catholic rebels, generally larger than your force limit)
  • "Castles" New Castle tech is encouraging the renovation of Japanese castles (Build/upgrade fortifications without having to spend Monarch Points.)
  • "(Japanese Words)" The Imperial Road system needs more funding. (Get a temporary tax boost by spending a lot of money)
  • "Wokou" Japanese pirates are terrorizing Ming and Korea. (Either fund the pirates (Pretty expensive) for a small reward or get a medium-sized boost for relations)
  • "Ginkakuji" Culture prompts the building of a new temple. (Build a temple without paying monarch points)
  • "(Japanese Words)" Our culture is great! (Cheaper adm and dip tech until monarch death for one time investment of cash and points.
  • "(Japanese Words)" Bushido is great. (Cheaper mil tech after one time investment)

Oh, and by the by, this is an outdated list because I'm in the School's computer lab and don't have access to the list that is twice as long back home. There's also all that flavour for the religious conversion of Japan.

Those are also outdated events since most (all?) of them were just taken from Divine Wind with little or no changes.

Guys calm down, he's right. Why you guys don't want special Asia advisor portraits? Will this make you guys mad? Also you guys right too like @Draco.

But this must be. Asia portrait must come with DLC or patch. This is broking immersion brutally. An European Manchu advisor is screwing our immersion and eyes.

It's still not a "Lack of flavour". Like I said, there are more events than I've written down. These are nation specific to Japan, which is a lot of flavour for one nation. How many other nations (beyond Lucky Nations) can you think of that have this many events for their specific nation? I'm thinking the Byzantines (with Phoenix DLC) and probably the Ottomans.

Also, my home list:
  • "Incident at Honnoji" A general betrays and kills you. (No matter if Diamyo, Shogun, Emperor, or any other factor, this can fire.)
  • "Western Trade" The westerners bring new ideas and new gods. (Suffer a modifier that gives -5% missionary strength, -3% mil tech, and -1 Yearly Prestige)

  • "Province Converts" A province has converted to Catholicism. (Self-explanatory)
  • "Religious Tensions" Religious frictions in our province have gotten out of control. (Either an army of Shinto rebels or an army of Catholic rebels.)
  • "Jokamachi" New Castle tech is encouraging the renovation of Japanese castles (Build/upgrade fortifications for free or get 25 Mil points.)
  • "Gokaido" The Imperial Road system needs more funding. (Get a temporary tax boost by spending a lot of money)
  • "(Japanese Words)" The peasants want an education system. (Lose a stability or lose 35 of each type of monarch point)
  • "Terakoya" The Samurai want education. (Invest gold for +1 possible advisor and -5% cost on all tech or +2 RR in two provinces)
  • "Wokou" Japanese pirates are terrorizing Ming and Korea. (Either fund the pirates (Pretty expensive) for a small reward or get a medium-sized boost for relations)
  • "Ginkakuji" We need to build a temple (Build a temple without paying monarch points or 10 Adm points)
  • "(Japanese Words)" Our culture is great! (-5% Adm and Dip tech cost until ruler death for one time investment of cash and points.)
  • "The Rise of Urban Culture" People are moving to the cities and urban culture is developing. (-15% Dip tech cost until ruler death for one time investment of cash)
  • "(Japanese Words)" Bushido is great. (Cheaper mil tech after one time investment)
  • "Military Developments" The Western Merchants bring Arquebus. (-15% Mil tech cost for one time investment.)
  • "Kabuki Theater" An artist has made a great play. (Keep him in the court for legitimacy, prestige, and gold or send him on the road for a level 2 artist advisor.)
  • "Arms Cache" We found a cache of western arms. (Modifier: -3% Mil tech cost, -10% infantry cost, and another bonus I forget.)

No, he is dead wrong. He makes ridiculous claim about Asian flavor and...

oh, wait, you mean he is right about the advisors portraits? Yeah, thats true. Shouldnt have made such a thread title, though :p
