This makes me wonder if there is some guy like Sam out there who does not have internet access and is still playing EU2 1.0 or HOI 1.0. :D

Poor Sam; if he's still playing HOI 1.00, he's on a straight course for the Arkham Asylum for the Criminally Insane.... :(

Which in turn is a path that ultimately heads for the aforementioned asylum :D

:D I guess the game should have been provided with an Enigma Engine from WW2 to decode the in-game mechanics and Bond' sunglasses to make invisible words appear clearly in the manual, and so on, until the magical "no piracy - no costumer though" final step :D

Lots of excuses but no solutions ;)

Ok so you couldnt make the manual bigger, ok so an in game tutorial was a no-go .... so how about a detailed tutorial.txt or in depth explanation doc included on the CD? Or publised to your website?

Love the game but the lack of documentation combined with the very abstratced game concepts/dynamics smells very stongly of MOO3 (cringe). It turned a whole lot of people off with that game too. Personaly I'll stick with it as IMO the game is worth it but it does make me wonder if a little more foresight would have resulted in more sales or fewer returns *shrug*

That's true. The learning curve in this game seemed a bit high for many people, so better documentation would have been preferable. And a tutorial of course. What we got to relay on now, is this forum. And this is a nice place. :D
I will credit the developers for an awesome game anyhow!

In a recent software development course I took, our lecturer told us documentation was being a must for a software project, but only the system documentation and code comments was emphasized. User-manual work was only mentioned in a short sentence. Anyway we made a nice one with screenshots and stuff, but this too was a bit short. We too had a lot of other work to do. ;)
