So I just took this decision which apparently makes the papacy mechanism cease. but i am still geting "Devoutness" from religious ideas to give me +2 papal influence!
2 issues here:
I was the pope, so what papal influence?
no papacy any more, so what papal influence?
Perhaps Devoutness and any other game aspect* could be modified to give a different bonus in any of the above cases?
*Defender of the faith, random events etc
