England Through the Ages
1419 - 1819
On April 10, 1483, Edward V was declared king of England, following the death of Edward IV. Edward the IV died of an unknown disease. Edward V would reign for two months and 17 days. On June 27 Richard, Duke of York, would come to the throne.*
January 23 the next year England captured Mecklneburg, thanks to the arrival of Norfolk**. Attacks on Swedish Finland would succeed, only capturing Nyland however. Richard would remove the forces, many consider this a mistake. On April 1 Mecklenburg was annexed. This brought new prosperity to the English merchants, as they had a guarantied location to trade at.
May 30 had Hannover declaring war on Brandenburg, England would leave the alliance, and avoid another war. The reasons are twofold. First was that the English were tiring of war, and wanted out. Second was that many European kings grew tired of the belligerent ways of the English kings, and could barely stand them. In other words, the English wanted to avoid another pointless war.
The next day Brandenburg joined England in alliance, but England refused to join in Brandenburg’s wars, and the already existing wars would continue. In late January of 1485 political and economic changes would sweep England. First was that the king supported Middle-class Bureaucrats, to negligible effect. The king would create the Court of the Star Chambers. Last was the commissioning of many Justices of the Peace. They were hoped to bring the population in line.
*Note that IRL Richard Duke of York never came to the throne, as reagent or otherwise.
**Which Norfolk (presumably among the Dukes of Norfolk) is unknown.
