The King and I, or what's the deal with Siam?

I'm playing a '36 GC as the USA (Doomsday 1.3a, no other mods except for SKIF/GIP). It's now early 1944, and I grabbed the two VP provinces other than Bangkok. Finally, my infantry gets to Bangkok, and before I can react boom, I'm at peace with Siam and have military access. Why can't I annex them? Is there some event that fires right away that changes their status? I was hoping to do some reorganizing of SE Asia, but alas, I'll have to move on to Nat. China (Japanese puppet).

It's a peace event indeed (Siam gives up") firing when US, UK or some other allies get certain provinces, can't do much about it (other than to remove the event).

Its caused by an event. As soon as you capture Bangkok Siam surrenders. The only way around is for you to capture all their VP provinces BUT Bangkok, then capture, pause and annex.
Well you could also just disable the even I guess

IIRC it triggers when you have Bangkok *or* another prov given in the event (dunno which one exactly right now though)

Cant remember it THAT well, but I know I did annex Siam the way I`ve mentioned in my previous post, so I guess it does work . And Im using plain Arma with the newest patch and DAIM (that doesnt mess with that event I think) so its doable.

It fires if you (UK, France, Australia, Kiwi or USA) have Bangkok AND (not OR) another province (not sure which one either).

Yeah you're right. Looked again as well, the *or* thingie is for the nations, not for the provinces
