The Keystone United.

The story.

Consisting of Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg and their colonies a new nation was fond called the Benelux, it’s goal: to rebalance the power in Europe.
The government is a mix of all the ministers from the 3 countries, the capital switched every 4 years from Brussels ( from ’20 till ‘24 ) to Amsterdam ( ’24 till ’28 ) and Luxembourg (’28 till ’32 ). The great powers agreed that the leader of the Benelux must be Belgian due to the hard fighting in WW1 and thus Albert I king of Belgium accepted the throne of the Benelux.

After the dead of Albert I a climbing accident at Marche-les-Dames, Leopold III took power. With the help of VNV, REX and the fascist in Italy and Germany the Benelux turned to National Socialism in ’35. Leopold III now has the absolute power over the Benelux.

Well, I guess it's time to get revenge for all the partitions of Luxembourg.

I wonder if you should give yourself the cores for the Empire of Lothair and re-create it! Northern Italy, Switzerland, the Benelux, some of SE Eastern France+Alsace-Lorraine, Bourgogne, and Western Germany... it'd be a real superpower! And then get the rest of the Frankish empire, just for fun. After all, I'm told the Franks came from some of that area... (Benelux, and some of Germany)

Interesting. I'll be following. :)

Interesting. With the resources of Belgium and Holland combined you will be a power to be reconed with. Too bad alllas your chief of the army is Dargelle and not van Voorst tot Voorst.....does the intire government change from a Belgian to Dutch and a Luxembourgian once every four years as well?

Thanks for all the support and reading, I hope you enjoy next updates as much as the first one.

Most of the funding for Leopold III strike for power came from Germany so we have some duties to forfill.

I will have enough resources ( well to much to be honest ).
About Dargelle it's the best of the 3 I can choose from he got 25% manpower boost and manpower is my only limit.
The government doesn't change anymore because Leopold III has absolute control over the Benelux.

Hmm you have a well fortified 4 province line will you try to defend it when Germany DOW you?

You have two places were you shuold fortifie HEAVILY. One Eindhoren is very confortable though it has 3 flank front but all of them are behing a riverside. and there are forts already.

The second defence spot Liege (if im right) is just to much to keep up with. Yes you coul fortifie it heavily BUT you will get a 4 flank atak and without any riverside defences, it will be impossible to hold. Anyway you migh try standing there at least for some time, this shouls win you time for French troops to enter and strong up your defences. But you shuold consider building forst at least lev2 in namur for safe retreat. Anyway you have a confortable riverside defence line. You shold be able to withstand German offensive if its properly fortified and well garrisoned with troops.

Just couldnt halp my self not to draw this

@pjrap: Time will tell when I attack Germany, If you can't defeat them join them :)

@Edzako: France ain't the problem but my rich colonies are. I would like to keep them till after the defeat of France, then I should have enough troops to win the colonial war.

Update following soon.

Nifty! Benelux is quite the colonial powerhouse.
But how can you put those newcomer Saxe Coburgs in power:(

(BtW, it's Lothar or Lotharius)

Lothair I (German: Lothar, French: Lothaire, Italian: Lotario) and in Dutch it's Lothairus. just don't bother with it ;)

I see you are Dutch so you would like to have the Dutch on the throne.

Lux has nothing to say
The Dutch didn't fight in WW1 so they have nothing to say
The only one that rest is Belgium and I live in Belgium ;)
btw I used the flag of Flanders

Rofl this is all so very unrealistic, but i follow it anyway.

Why do you use a flemmish flag for the Benelux?? That is so wrong, a flemmish nationalist flag conflicts heavily with a theoretical unified Benelux.

Do you have cores on Wallonia? I figure, in this Dutch dominated country, that the walloons wouldn't be all that happy with the union.Unless the get the best treatements, enter Leopold wich is a symbol of union between flemmish and Walloons, in that time rather for the benifit of the walloons.

The kingdom of Lothar? Its more than a millinium old! Taking Turkey with greece and creating the Byzantine Empire would have more logic to it...

But anyway, i don't have to care that much about all this, its just a game sohave fun, ill follow it. ;)

Btw, as to fortifications, Liege will just do fine if fortified to the max.I can make an easy defense f Belgium in the regular scenario as Belgium by build 3 lvl 10 forts, in Liege, Antwerp and Brugge. (as belgium, with few manpower and construction increasing slider settings, its ean easy and worthwhile strategy) Even when surrounded by 50 devissions Germans tend to not attack if about 10 devissions are defending a lvl 10 fort. Some other province's can be easily lost, like in the Ardennes, as there is few there that is worth to keep hold of by stretching youre front.

Then again, if youre claiming Lother, there is few reason to forts. You have more manpower now so you can build a fairly decent army, i guess.I would build some AT though if your planning to fight the Germans, the lowland plains are great places for Germa tanks to roll trough.

You know, that sounds like a good idea for an AAR. I wonder if it's been done... Certainly it's unlikely - I should say impossible, considering Lothair's descendents didn't even keep the northern bit for that long, as well as a millenium+ of political change - but it's not exactly like there was a united Benelux facing the Second World War, and the Nazis/Soviets/Americans/Japanese/et cetera most certainly did _not_ conquer the world, which happens all the time in AARs here.

@ TheFlemishDuck: I know it's very unrealistic ( why did I listen to Corbett and GeneralHannibal  )

I used the flag of Flanders because I can't find another flag and my first thoughts were to play with flanders and forming Dietsland etc etc.
