And that's how the Jews settled in England. Historical and logical as ever.

I guess all the potential for rage and "discussion" aroused her sexually.

Wait, isn't that what the "The Obligatory CK2 Strange Screenshot Thread" thread is for ?

From how I understood it, the OP opened this tread to complain about what happened here.
And truth be told, the AI does do a horrible choice in choosing spouses.

I see and agree.
Then again for me the Strange Screenshot thread is a, if not the way to show bugs and stupid AI.
Whatever, not my decision to make. Was just wondering.

If the intention is to discuss this, then sure this is the better way indeed.
Wasn't obvious by the OP in my mind..

I'm guessing that he was lowborn until he married since he's going to have heirs now. So, this is a the result of two very old AI issues:
1) The AI almost exclusively marries a lowborn character in their court. I willing to bet that with a name like Bustenai, he was just at the top of the alphabetically sorted list.
2) The AI doesn't know how to do matrilineal marriages.

Additionally, since this guy has the "true believer" modifier, he'd never matrilineally marry anyone, anyway. A Byzantine Karling Princess wouldn't be good enough for this guy.

Considering this has been an issue since the game released one does start to wonder when it will be fixed.

That said, I avoid playing Ironman for exactly this reason; being able to manually fix these little inconsistencies in AI behaviour is a blessing.

What's that? The Duke of Serbia has married the Duchess of Kiev, and she's not even thought about her own line? There'll be none of that.

I don't see the issue with that one. Except the distance between.

I mean, your bigger issue is that she married herself off normally when she married someone in her own court causing the kids to take the Fathers religion and culture. I can see why she would marry into another house and let her branch of her line kill off to secure an alliance and better inheritance for her kids but she had the authority every step of the way there. She was in charge and he was a courtier.

It seems insane to me that the AI, in a circumstance that they would deny you a marriage because they'd prefer it be matralineal, would then turn around and marry themselves off normally to a nobody. A female marrying one of her random courtiers should always make it matrilineal because they would try to demand it if anyone offered. That's just inconsistent behavior.

2) The AI doesn't know how to do matrilineal marriages.

Actually (though I might remember it wrong), I think there's a weight variable modders can change in the defines that changes the AI's willingness to marry matrilineally. I do believe the Warhammer mod even increases it rather drastically (again, don't quote me on this). As a result, a female ruler is more likely to marry a lowborn matrilineally or not marry at all.

He's a poet. The silver tongued old devil won her over. In good old medieval tradition, the relatives should now all conspire to ease his passage into the next life though.

This would explain the surge of rabbis, traveling the woods and offering circumcisions during the reigns of kings John and Richard III. Most sightings were concentrated near the barony of Nottingham. Sometimes they even shared their wine with good folks who asked (and got a circumcision).
