I think EU2 is a very good game but there are two things about the interface that I don't like.

1. Why do new messages pop up over old messages? Shouldn't it be an easy thing to fix for the devs to have old messages stay on top?

2. Why doesn't the game pause until I have clicked away the last message on screen? As it is now I have to manually pause the game every time I want to read several messages. And yes, I want to read about everything that happens in the game :p

Maybe most of you want the interface as it is but please convince why it is better the way it is :)

if you right click on the message you can decide what it should do, ie. you can make it pause the game when it pops up.

I'd also like if the new messages would pop under the old ones. Is that possible?

Ha ha, the interface is one the things that could be improved more in EU2. You do end up getting used to it, but at the beginning is a real pain and adds to the learning curve.

Select Message Settings under Options and edit whether you'd like any particular event (a) completely ignored (b) mentioned in the log (c) displayed in a pop-up window or (d) displayed in a pop-up window and paused. Customize to your little heart's wishes.

I know that, I have all messages set to display and pause. The problem is that new messages end up over old one and when there are many messages the game unpauses as soon as I click away the first.

The simple solution; when the game pauses for you, then hit your keyboard pause button. Now you can read them to your heart's content without the game unpausing. :)

...ah, the elusive Pause key, situated in the needlessly hard to reach northeastern corner of the keyboard. Simply the thought of it brings to mind frightfully cold Siberian winters. It might just be too much to ask from some. Alas, the mouse to save the day, with a click on the tiny golden clock.

'Pause' button, on your keyboard. Normally, just next to the 'Scroll Lock' button. ;)

Yep been doing that, that's why I want the game to pause automatically until I've clicked away every message :). The game has been around for so long so I think it's kind of strange that these things haven't been fixed. But as I said at the start of the thread, maybe it's just me who think it's a big deal

Sometimes, when I am in a hurry, I click the edge of the pause button on screen. It gets some kind of partial ring around it, and the game doesn`t pause.
Worse, once the ring is activated, I have to press the pause button on screen twice: once to get the ring around it away again, and once to actually pause the game.
Mightily annoying when the situation becomes dangerous.

Does anyone know why the pause button has some kind of double function? And how to turn it off?
