Welcome to the insane asylum. It has been moved due to matinence problems from Lisbon to Paris. It will now continue here, in a new format! :D

Foolish French? A history- In the year 1492 French leadership took a markedly different turn. It turned to aggressive expanisionism. In this period of 1492-1506, as we shall see, the
French expansion began.......

A Short and Consise History of France:1492-1792

In 1492, a sort of shadow government was founded, though the people did not know. It in essence governed the French, behind the puppet king. In 1492, it started to turn its eyes outward.
They fell on Lorraine. Pitiful, weak, helpless, Lorraine. The French under Foix invaded. After several assaults, the fort fell and Lorraine was annexed. This enraged the world, but France kept still for a while, until, in 1502, they declared war on England. This resulted in the annexation of Calais and Kent, and the French stole English maps. Soon, a colony was established in Micmac. Now France kept to itself for a while, but turned eyes on provinces it rightfully claimed, but were owned by Austria. Soon, they would take them...

Interesting start -- and of course, France can sustain such ambition.

But one question --

why take Calais?

Isn't that the only reason that you had a CB against England? Without the CB, expanding the toehold you took in Kent will be much more expensive...

I guess I don't think that far ahead. The stab. cost'll only be two, anyway, once they convert to Protestantism. Nice to see you again, Morlac, hope you write another AAR, really liked the Spainish one.

Excerpt from Foolish French? A history- Indeed, the French were so absorbed in their
military that they had close to the largest army in Europe, and had the second largest empire...

By 1506, as we have said, the French turned their eyes to the Austrian Lowlands. Many of these
they coveted. Indeed, the French longing for empire was not satisfied by the gains from England
and Lorraine. It was like a cannonball: it must go on.

Soon the French were invading Austria, but they were momentarily bought off for peace by Artois, which was already one of their goals for the next few years. Soon, the French went back to sleep, pacified for now. But their expansive tendency included diplomacy as well. They soon annexed Savoy, and brought together a new alliance specifically for the purpose of fighting Austria and England. The Papal States, Scotland, Helvetica, and Wurtemburg were all members of the “French League”. By now, the French military had about 118,000 infantry, 32,000 cavalry, and 75 cannon in six armies. They thought of fighting Austria, but they also had the mightiness of Spain behind them, a nation rivaling France.

These two fronts if they went to war were daunting, but what was their huge military for, if not for conquest?

French Land Technology: Level 6, one lower than Austria (7), and equal to that of Spain.
