But to be fair, what role did any of the European cities in India really play in WWII.

Sure I want them included, but wouldn't be too upset if some French trade town on the Indian continent was not included, it didn't do anything ...

I'm prety sure the only role any of these towns played was being swiftly occupied by Britain following Vichy ...

actually no, the french governor of Pondicherry rallied to DeGaulle in june 1940 (actually the first French colony to do so) and remained in power for the duration of the war.

no british occupation necessary.

and actaully having the territories included will be helpful, since it would allow "Free france" to be modelled into the game right from DeGaulle's appeal - as a breakaway regime against vichy (which was the legitimate government of France in wake of the armistice).

Hmm, didn't know that.

Eitherway, occupied or joining free Frace voluntarily, what significant role did tehy really play? Haw many divisions did Pondicherry rally?

Why does it matter?

If they were historically colonial provinces (as Pondichéry was) then they should belong to their respective owners. If we have the provinces - and it would seem we do, with 10,000 - then they should be in. I'm all for game ergonomics, but I love historical realism wherever possible.

i *think* there may have been an Indian division within the Free French forces.

But while it may not have meant much in terms of manpower, what including Pondicherry etc in game means in terms of the geostrategic game is that there can now be a Free France nation right from the start of vichy rather than the current delay of a month or so until the Equatorial African colonies starting with Chad rally to Free France.

In terms of gameplay, you could now create an event that would allow the human player of France a real choice - do they play on as Vichy after the armistice or choose to be Gaullist, starting with a single territory on the coast of India but with more joining in the next few months to become the base from which to try and restore Free France.

I to, totally want them in.

Read my post, it says something along the lines I want them in. But will not be distraught if some minor town was not included.

Johan has already said there will be no Danzig, Vatican or Andorra (Countries! :p) in the game, so what makes you think a small port/town will be included, 10,000 provinces or not. I doubt every single European town will be included.

Hopefully, the major European territories will be included, just for flavour.

Danzig should be an independent state (well, a LoN free city) with the usual Allied guarantees, possibly even allied with Poland? If we have the provinces, I see no reason to not correcting little things like this. :)

The question in the thread was, will those 3 be separate nations. To that question Johan said NO. That doesn't mean there isn't going to be a province named Danzig f.e..

Yes, I'm aware of that, I ment it in the sense of 'Free city of Danzig', or else I wouldn't have included it with a list of countries :p

I meant that if countries larger then a French Port are not included, what chance has this town got?

Johan have said that there will bo no Danzig, Vatican or Andorra in vanilla game as minor countries. (And technically, he have said that they shouldn't be in, not that they are not in :p) But the provinces of Danzig, Roma or Andorra will be there I think (with that many provinces we can see in the screenshoot).

EDIT : oops some post and answers since mine

In this case, the countrie is France, and France is larger than the free citie of Danzig.
