Episode 1: Peace in the Kingdom (1399-1419)

October 13th, 1399.

Ep1-1.jpg

Everything is going well in the Kingdom of Bohemia. Our mighty emperor and king asked us to research more advanced land battle strategies and keep our good relations with our Austrian, Hungarian and German neighbors. Who are we to disobey him?

1401-1402.

A man name Jan Hus is making a name for himself in Prague's University. He was named priest in 1401 and was promoted to master in 1402. It is said that he speaks of catholicism harshly but our King doesn't see this as a threat.

April 4th, 1402.

Ep1-2.jpg

We are starting to see some heresy in our kingdom... Some say a change is coming but we all trust our King with this matter. Still, we are a little upset.

Ep1-3.jpg

Wurtemberg dared to insult our Monarch. Our King views this as an act against the Empire but will he go to war over an insult? Will our time of peace be short-lived?

Our Lord does not seem to want to wage war against our German brethren. Our allies, Austria and Hungary are in good terms with Wurtemberg and our King think that they will not follow in our bloody footsteps.

Revenge is a meal that is best served cold....

February 8th 1408.

Ep1-4.jpg

After nearly 10 years in researching land improvements, the people of Prague are now able to build stronger fortresses for our kingdom. Our King ordered the building of a stronger fort in Prague to protect our capital.

Meanwhile, in Prague's university...

Jan Hus is spreading teachings about a new form of religion. Our people seems to think of this as heresy but the King seems to think otherwise.

Again, who are we to disobey the King's orders?

Ep1-5.jpg

An extraordinary leader has joined the Bohemian Army. Jan Zizka is his name and the king thinks highly of him.

With a military genius like him leading our armies, we have nothing to fear... besides fear itself.

Meanwhile, in Prague...

Jan Hus is gaining more and more adepts. This could become a problem soon. We have to do something about it....

Ep1-6.jpg

Prague's university master Jan Hus was ruthlessly killed after being deceived by our King and Emperor...

We came to think that his ideas were right and that we should follow him.

Jan_Hus.jpg

He WILL be remembered. When the time will be right, we will rise as one and depose that Lord that deceived us all.

Ep1-7.jpg
Ep1-8.jpg

People in Silesia and Morivia mourn the death of our king Vàclav IV. We, in Prague cannot be more happy.

This is now the time, OUR time. It is time to rise from this decadent kingdom's ashes and bring a new order to the world!

Let's fight for our beliefs, and bring victory to our hussites brothers!!!

END OF EPISODE 1

To see if you can shake the pillars of Christendom.

Probably :)

Ep2-3.jpg

August 16th 1419.

Our new order is in place now. Only Moravia and Silesia still believe in Christianity. It will be a matter of time until they see the true light.

The Hussite Regency Council now rule our land. We do not believe in negotiation and think that this is time to liberate our brothers by force. We will still accept catholics in our lands for the time being, with time they will come to us...

Our goal now is to secure our lands, borders, and wait for an opportunity to release our brothers from christendom.

Ep2-5.jpg

Hungary is now in total turmoil. Revolt everywhere within their lands and nationalism at it's lowest. We see in this the will of the magyar people to join our ranks. We declare war without a second tought, Hungary having lost their last ally in a previous war they lost.

With our 25,000 strong cavalry army, we march for Carpathia and Presburg.

Our morale is at it's highest and the ennemy, altough in greater numbers, has lost hope and won't even prove us a challenge.

Charge, my men, charge!

Ep2-6.jpg

Hungary is quick in trying to deceive us with their petty tribute. We won't settle for anything else than their northern lands.

Ep2-7.jpg

Sorry for the Husssite there :)

After nearly 4 years of war between us and Hungary, we control over half of their provinces and rebels took some territories along the way. We are in great negotiating position and after debating if we should continue or not this war, we came to the conclusion that we should accept their offer and stabilize our land.

Future conflicts will come, we are sure....

Bohemia after the first Hussite-Hungarian War:

Ep2-8.jpg

March 11th 1431.

After our glorious victory on Hungary, some german states invited us in their alliance. Surely they need our expertise on their side. We will accept... for now.

Our alliance consists of Bavaria, Austria and Franconia.

We also hope to start converting Moravia and Silesia to our great Hussite faith.

The council wishes to convert Moravia first since they are our Czech brothers.

Ep2-9.jpg
Ep2-10.jpg

August 5th 1435.

Our western neighbor, Saxony, let go of their alliance and now are searching for help elsewhere. This is a chance we can't let pass. We muster our armies consisting of 25,000 cavalries and rdeclare war on them. We are pleased to see that Bavaria and Franconia follow us to war. The traitorous austrians back down, though. We will seek redemption soon enough...

The war is short-lived and within 8 months, Saxony surrendered and we annexed their lands.

Ep2-12.jpg

Zigmunt of Hungary send us an envoy telling us that he might be willing to make concessions in order to retrieve his claim on our bohemian land. This is an offer we cannot accept.

He deceived us once, we won't let him do it again!

December 24th 1437.

Ep2-13.jpg

Our council has decided to put a man name Albrecht in charge of our domestic and military systems. We are not pleased by this decision because of Albrecht's lack of talent. We hope they will reconsider and put in place someone more suitable to be our leader!

Very good AAR, It takes some courage for the Hussites to be all alone in this all-Catholic Europe.

And still a century before the true reformation! :(

But well done so far, let's see how it turns out.

La meilleure des chances. ;)

For now, I am only trying to survive, yes those "christians" are giving me a hard time :p I hope to make it to the reformation to see some trouble ELSEWHERE :p

PS. Merci bien!

Excellent start. I agree, it is lonely out there. The early start hopefully gave you a slight leg up on the challengers. Looks like it so far, at least. Very nice.

Could that Albrecht be Albrecht von Hapsburg? Strange to see that the sequence of events for the Hussite wars in Agceep has been dropped. No Romanist Bohemia anymore? No more Prokop Holy and Jiri z Podebrad?
