so yeah, I wanted an easy game so I was playing as France in Ironman, about 25 years into the game, I felt I had a big enough powerbase to take the reclaim savoy mission and attack the HRE
So I went to check who the emperor was, and uhh, the HRE interface button wasn't there
I then checked the Imperial Mapmode, no provinces were in the empire
checked some province histories and made a discovery, the provinces were all removed on the start date

The Holy Roman Emperors page on the ledger is completely empty
it's really weird

guess it will be real easy to rip my way across germany now
wanted to get in on a league war, but I guess that isn't going to happen now

game says it's still in Ironman

(ignore the fact I've no other cloud saves, I deleted all the pre-1.8 ones as the map was an unfortunate patchwork *shrug*)

so yeah, how odd

No I really only ever start from 1444

I've just checked and it also fired the Ruina Imperii achievement, which I hadn't done in Ironman yet clearly
All sorts of amusing
can't seem to reproduce it, so it doesn't seem to be exploitable, I'd love to know how it happened

Generally it can be done by looking at different dates, then going back to 1444. Not even starting a game just looking at the bookmarks.
I also did it after quitting out of a BB>Prussia>HRE game.
