"The host has a different version of the game"

I get this bug when trying to play with a friend, despite having done the following steps:

1: Ensured no mods are selected for either of us
2: Verified integrity of game files
3: Deleted local files then reinstalled

I have no clue how to fix this. The issue is clearly on my end, as no servers come up allowing me to join unless I deselect the same version tickbox. Please help!

Nope, normal non-beta game, I even have the same checksum as all the hosted games that are allegedly a different version.

Checksum, version and build are all equal havent found a fix though

Have a friend whose having the same issue. We've had him delete and reinstall, verified ect. He doesn't have any mods on and so forth. checksum, build, and version are the same as mind and my other friend(s).

A long shot to be sure, but here is another quirk of some Paradox games in MP. Be sure that no one has played single player in the same session before going into MP. If they have they need to restart the client.

Have everybody open Steam library, right click on Stellaris, hit 'properties', go to the betas tab, and verify what version everybody is playing on. There is more than just the beta - if you used this to revert to the older 1.9 or 2.0 patches then it will cause the same issue.

Somebody has either reverted to an older version or is in the beta and forgot about it.

Which is what it is telling you - somebody has a different version of the game. EVERYBODY trying to play the game needs to do this and verify what version they are in.

If it were that, they would not get matching checksums. Zero chance of it.
