But now.. in the '36 the Scandinavian people is not united about defending slesvig, Even with tireless efforts from P. Munch and Stauning Trying to make Norway and Sweden realise that the German threat is not just to Denmark but to all of the Scandinavian Countries

German Minorities already starting to spark conflicts in North Slesvig, has made the Stauning-Munch Goverment (Social Democrat-Radical Left) completletly abandon their Neutrality policy, and Begun Preperations for an Existential Battle against the Germans..

The Danish Army Minister General With had always been a forespeaker for an Existential War if the germans or the "british" attacked, but even he believed to defend Jutland with no support from the start would be impossible,

Wich is why he had begun Re-Organizing the Danish army

The Jutland division Marching towards Fyn for Training to defend against amphibious Attacks

And as the Current Danish reserves was being re organized New soldiers were being recruited and trained for duty

mean while Danish Researchers was working hard to figure out the optimal Schematics for any Coastal fortresses on danish shores, especially since Stauning him self had stressed out how important these Fortresses would be if Denmark was to hold the germans back even if just for a while.

Even tho Holding Fyn was of upmost Importance The Kings Life Guard and The hussars stayed in Copenhagen

Now that Denmark was starting to Re organize its armies, Stauning and P munch had Worked out a way they might be able to "Persuade" their Scandinavian Brothers into allying against a german or "british" attack on scandinavia.. It involved Espionage.. The Head of Intelligence Erik Mertz was begun planning the Spy networks in Sweden and Norway, in an attempt to make them realise they are alsow in the danger zone..

Denmark alsow worked hard to try and gain great relations with the scandinavian brothers so that when they realised the threat they would be more likely to come to Denmarks aid.

Out of no where however news of the Spanish Revolution reached the goverment, tho Denmark could do nothing to help, specially since the Germans and the Italians both had sent forces to help, and whilst Denmark was preparing for war, didnt mean they were gonna directly challenge the Germans.

At the end of 1936 all of the Danish plans seemed to be progressing like planned, the third Division of Danish troops had finished, trade was flowing, danish-swedish relations were getting stronger, The spy networks in Norway and Sweden were in operation, the First coastal Forress had begun construction on faaborg and even in The spanish republic seemed to have the upper hand in Spain... over all Everyone seemed happy.. well except Hjalmar Rechnitzer (Minister of the Navy) who didnt get any new toys

While the Danish foreign ministry was busy maintaining trade relations, little changed in denmark in 1937.

Sadly, the same could not be said about Germany, As of 22th of March 1938 The Italians joined the Germans "Axis"

This caused great distress in the danish ministry, as P. Munch was still a delegate in the Leauge of Nations wich had condemmed the Italian invasion of Abyssinia.


But even though the Germans had gained a strong ally in mainland europa, the Italian - German Intervention in the Spanish civil war had been a failure, as the Republic had been victorious
The Danish goverment ofcourse didnt celebrate the republics victory in spain publicly, but roumors has it the Danish goverment had quiet the party celebrating the defeat of the spanish facists..

even though the Danish goverment was celebrating the victory in Spain, When Erik Mertz came to work the day after with a hangover informing Stauning that the Danish Spy network in Sweden.. had gone missing, he had no idea how.. but Somehow there was alot of Domestic spies in Denmark instead...

With the Growing Nazi sympathisers in Denmark, Stauning was not exactly unhappy about the development with more domestic spies.. and Put Erik mertz to work with Gaining more support for the Social Democrats, P munch was ofcourse unaware of this development.

Erik Mertz was not the only one who had hangovers, P munch was alsow embarrassed as he's continued pressure on Norway had Ruined Danish-Norweigen Relations

At the End of 1938 War seemed unavoidable, and Alliances with Sweden and Norway seemed far away, Coastal Fortresses had been constructed Denmark now had 3 Divisions of 3xInf1xArt, and a Construction of an Anti Aircraft Division was underway 1xInf2xAA
Would these Preperations proof enough for Denmark to hold the Germans back until the Allied forces might feel like rushing to Denmarks aid? If nothing else Denmark will not surrender!

In the beginning of 1939 things were quiet, Atleast until August, Where The russians Invade Finland and the Germans Declear war on Poland

25th August
from the start of the German-Polish war, the Danish intelligence service was under great stress, as german units were going and leaving the border, The Danish goverment responded to this, by beginning full mobilization

As all of the danish army was reserves most of the soldiers needed to be called to service,

Here's the Danish soldiers on Leave in Odense Taking the Healthy way back to Faaborg to prepeare holding the germans back in 30th September

As the Danish troops were organizing in Faaborg the civilian population in Jutland was still unaware of the iminent danger, and that the entire danish army was stationed on fyn and zealand instead of at the border to germany.

The germans declear war on Denmark the DAY before the Kings birthday

While the germans were allowed to invade Sönder jutland pretty much unopposed it was a mixed welcome the germans recieved in Jutland.

While the Danish Armed forces had given up on defending jutland, Stauning did not wish to give up a long term plan regarding the liberation of Jutland, and set Erik Mertz at work with working on organizing resistance groups all over jutland.

By the 5th October only Randers, Aalborg, Jammerbugt and Frederikshavn remained unoccupied in Jutland

At the same time on the 10th English Forces were prepearing to Come to Denmarks Aid

When the news of English troops were coming to Denmarks aid, Stauning was Extatic, that now Denmark would recieve help from their new allies.

Stauning Announced over the radio that a British Expeditionary force was headed for denmark, and that one day All of Denmark would be liberated and take the fight to the germans with the help of their allies..

a sense of hope spread through the danish citizens and now it really looked like the Kingdom of Denmark would hold the germans back and Protect their soverenity

And even though the Politicians plans to push Scandinavia into an alliance failed, The Danes now have a stronger ally, that might enable the danes to reconquer Jutland and who knows, denmark might regain Slesvig after the war?

Except if the germans had a transport fleet​

the 18th October the First british Expeditionary force arrive in Copenhage, and immidiatly marched towards the Danish army wich was running low men.

the English Expeditionary force has Arrived in Copen hagen

Meanwhile on the french front, French Soldiers were pushing into germany, But if they can defeat the germans? seems unlikely at the current point of the war.

So now, Denmark has initiated work on transport vessels with the aim of reconquest of Frederikshavn and generaly invade germany.. wich will be a tall order, but there is nothing wrong with big goals

however, the Allies seems to have overwhelmed Denmark with troops, and now the 5th December 1939 The total Amount of Expeditionary forces are following

42 Brigades of Infantry

27 English Brigades
10 Canadian Brigades
5 New Zealandish Brigades

8 Brigades of Artillery

7 Canadian Brigades
1 New Zealandish Brigade

13 Headquarters

11 English HQ's

With This support from our Allied Comrades in arms, The Danish Isles might just hold out til its possible to turn the table around!

The Current Situation in Denmark

But it seems the Danish population is not THAT satisfied about the Allies help

The Danes seems to be expecting big things from the Allies, or atleast the allies will need to do something big if they wish for the Danes to be impressed

But at this moment, Victory seems far away, you can certainly say theres a LONG road ahead of the Garrison in Denmark

This is aar is good, I have never seen an aar about the danes actually holding of the germans. You got very lucky with the expeditionary forces!

thank you^^ but truth be told i think theres to many expedition forces, (well maybe not south african they are properly not gonna need them at home) but a counter offensive seems really unrealistic in the current position im in specially with the tons of panzers and infantry germany insists on having stationed in Sönderjutland

the swedes are not a big enough Threat yet :/ but i was planning on doing it, i mean they did betray their scandinavian big brother, so i think its denmarks right to give them a wooping of their life time

Denmark has now been in war for about 2 months time, The germans continue to attack the Faaborg guard, but the size of their attacks are lessening, now only 2 armour divisions and a light armour division keep fighting the expidition forces, meanwhile the allies continue to send troops to denmarks aid.. guess non of them trust that france will win, so they'd rather help denmark.. But even tho Denmark has been in a state of war for 2 months now The Danish citizens (not on jutland mind u) all came out to vote for the 1940 election and The Social Democrats won with 70% of the votes!

Even Christian X King of denmark got a seat of office, as Chief of the army, how ever now that the social democrats dominate denmark P. Munch is no longer the foreign minister

In a massive Strategic error The Expiditionary force in Faaborg ended up going on the Retreat, however Reserves was in place in adjecent regions and was strategicly redeployed in Faaborg, this has so far been the closest the germans have been to taking faaborg..

It seems that Denmark will outlast the French in this war.. but for how long? only remains to be seen... hopefully the german soldiers on the west front will just skip past denmark straight to russia?...

(This one is abit short because i just wanted to have the election in it)

I have done that many times playing as Denmark. Just align with Germany, and you can make it happen before they dow you.

Yes its very exiting , i have tried to trench down and join the allies as Denmark, but never succeded. Mabye its an enhanced AI thing, that makes the allied support you so massively. Looks very promising!

Part VI - Operation Fenris

The Liberation of Jutland is coming near!
maybe not so much, but we'l try​

we're in the 1940's now, the Germans are pushing the french back, and has conquerd the Magionet line.. but the Vastly supirior Valhal Fortress on faaborg is still holding the germans at bay, despite the constant bombardments of the Luftwaffa

The germans lacking the ability to breakthrough the danish defense is now turning to sweden for help, as of the 23rd the Germans begun influencing the Swedish minds (Danish conquest in the north might not be totaly out of the picture)

Due to the attack on french positions the German army is no longer stationing a ton of armour at the crossing to Faaborg, wich gives the Danes the oppertunity to make a counter attack, not from faaborg, but from Frederiks havn, As the first Transport ship has finished construction.

The Allied Expiditionary force will Sieze frederiks havn and push south

At the Same time Danish Partisans will be put into work, When Jutland has been secured the Expidition forces will take positions in Kiel and Heide to Abuse the rivers for a defensive position against the germans.

This battle plan might end up in disaster but.. its a chance? no?

Allied forces again Prepearing for a Naval Journey, but this time not from the other side of the world, but to jutland to the enemies territories

Estimated Date of the Invasion of Jutland 1940 late 1st November.
