The HOI2 Medieval MOD

The Medieval MOD till now we are at 9,5%

Now that some people have really started to work on the MOD, and we have nearly reached 10%, I have decided to renew the first side. Here I am going to write current issues of the MOD (which are written on the end of the first side). I also took my time and have renewed the positions of the mod (Or credits, if you like to call it as that. If I have not mentioned you, and you think you are worth of mentioning send a private message to me):

-If you take a look on reply 100, you can see there a nice map of Asia. But the problem is, that it is very hard to find the flags of the nations drawn there. It would be a great help, if you could find at least one of those flags (Already found Kashmir, Sindh, Japan and Mongol empire).

Some extra information. The territories as Africa and Siberia that will not be owned by any nation on the start, will be under a nation named Bandits, natives and pirates. This nation will be in a war with all the nations right from the start. So we will improvise colonizing and the barbarian invaders. The AI will be changed, so that the nations as the Soviet Union (Duchy of Moscow) or Germany (Probably Prussia) dont get to strong. To make the nations battle each other, the AI will be taken from the Random road scenario. So all nations will DOW each other (Well I think atleast that would be the best solution).

i think that equal ic will suffice for international equality but in real prussia and moscow did get to strong (well prussia did not in time so poland pwned them) moscow slowly conquered all neighbors and made hard time for poland turkey and sweden

besides there is (i think) possibility to make map in the Europe boundaries

is that flaming thing on picture rocket?? ;]

Edit: By the way, making all countries DOW every other country probably wouldn't be the best way to go. There are historical records of wars etc for most parts of the world at this time.

Have you considered limiting this mod to europe, north africa and west asia?
like in battlescenarios, except i`m not sure how the other provinces are blacked out : /

I think I know how we could model the lack of exploration (making world conquest impossible). We could severely limit the range of ships, and add impassible borders for places that shouldn't be passed (such as north Africa to south Africa), and I think that this can be done with sea areas as well. The only exception would have to be Russia so that the Mongols can invade properly.

Well there are 3 possibilities. My possibility make a nation which would control all territories that are not under control of any nation and be in war with all nations. So we would at least improvise colonization. Second do the same just we would delete the territories as inner Africa, Upper Siberia, Australia, Most of both Americas. Third we would limit the territories to north Africa, Europe, most of Asia. Which do you think is the best?

I have lined out the borders of the nations in Europe (well mostly. For some I dont know the exact borders. Those nations are Burgundy, France, Bavaria, Brandenburg, Poland, Duchy of Novgorod, Duchy of Muscovy, Great Duchy of Litvia (Hope that is the right name), Duchy of Kiev. Well that should be the most of the European nations. The provinces in red or islands are 1 provinces states that are independent. For any propositions make the map in the style below). The list of nations till now (First is the name of the nation, second is the nation that should be used for the nation to make the nation in the Armageddon mode. I think means that it can be changed or im not fully sure that that is the right name of the state):

-Kingdom of England - England
-Duchy of Wales - Wales (Yes it does exist)
-Kingdom of Scotland - Scotland
-Ireland - Ireland
-Kingdom of Portugal - Portugal
-Kingdom of Castilie - Nationalist Spain
-Kingdom of Aragon (Catalonia) - Republican Spain

Avignon is a part of the papal state (As Salzburg), I just dont know which of those provinces in the red cricle area is Avignon. If someone could edit the European map as this map shows I would be very thankful. If not I will make the map as soon as I will have time (Like in a month).

I think you first should create all the small states and afterwards put in different Emperor events, like when Emperor go to war, he gets extra units FROM the member states.

Does it really worth to invest time in this?..

I don't want to be negative, im just telling you my opinion: it will take years to finish that.

You will need to do:
Borders- the 'easy' part, wich you are seeming to consider to do right now.
Modding units- this part will take hours and hours and more hours.
Modding unit icons- you will have to.
Modding sprites- or it would look stupid.
Province names- i don't see the Mongols marching on 'Stalingrad'.
Ministers- yes, it is possible to find one or two pictures of leaders here or there, but you can't make them all. What you will do for the air force ministry, for exemple?
Economy- you can't simulate a feudal economy with an IC system- wich need 'energy' and 'rare materials' to work.

...i conclude than the HoI engine is definitivly not suited for a medieval mod :( This would be more doable with Vicky, for exemple.

I hope i don't kill your enthusiasm by posting this, but it may save you hours of work for a project than have very little chances to work...
