Born: 1800 (36)
Birthplace: Brussels, Vlaanderen
Party affiliation: The UAI (liberals)
House: Conclave of Stadtholders
Background: Born from two of the most important families that the Empire has seen and a perfect example of what really means to be a citizen of the German Republic, Miguel is determined to lead Germany to a new age of prosperity and control over all Europe.

After follow the steps of his mentor, Jose Fernandez de Leon, studying mechanics in the prestigious Catholic University of Leuven (where he also learnt the value of pluralism and full citizenship in the society), Miguel travelled through all Europe (what allowed him to speak fluently 6 languages). This travels would convince him of the need of free trade for the progress of Germany. When Miguel came back to Germany in 1823 he founded a new company, "VRP Metall-und europäischen Eisenbahnen GmbH", that a few years later would made of him one of the biggest industrialist of the Republic. This experience convince him of the benefits of a laissez faire society, but at the same time taught him of fragile could be an early industrial society without the interventionism of the government.

The awful foreign politic of Simeon Asch would make him finally decide to enter in politics. While being young he has been a firm defender of pacifism, as many other young liberals, the results of these kind of politics convince him of the need of a pro military government supporting a strong army and the punctual intervention of the German army in Europe to warrant the peace and add more territories to a Germany that, in his opinion, should join all the peoples of Europe inside its borders.

Now Miguel has got the position of Stadtholder von Brussels, one of the most liberal regions of the republic, and he is determined to enter in the government and start making the changes that Germany will need for, one day, rule over all of Europe.

Deutschland über alles!!

Background from 1836

01/01/1836 - Miguel is elected Chancellor of the Republic of Germany.

A clone of my character in BR's interactive AAR, Ferdinand de Spinoza. A descendant of him, anyway.

Doktor Doktor Wolfram Siegfried Gotha, MBE

WolframGotha_zps71f8e98b.jpg

Born: 1789
Birthplace: Salzburg
Party Affiliation: Imperialists
House: the Assembly

Background: Wolfram S. Gotha, an Economics graduate at the Salzburger Universität, and Philosophy graduate at Cambridge University, spent most of his previous life in Great Britain. During his study at Cambridge, Gotha managed to make many influential friends, up to and including members of the Royal Family. He was privileged enough to be able to spend six years on writing his thesis, called Philosophy of the Consumer: a corporate, one-sided view on manipulating the crowds to achieve the highest possible profit with the least possible risk. Of course, being firmly embedded in Britain's literati, he was awarded knighthood for his "excellent service to the British community".

During the Schumann administration, Gotha returned to Germany. He was soon to sail back to Britain, however. Schumann, a friend of Gotha Sr., instructed the Foreign Minister to appoint Gotha Jr. as Ambassador to Great Britain, where his numerous contacts would come in handy. For fifteen years, he dutifully served the Consul abroad.

Wolfram loathed the political instability that the Republic has brought upon his homeland, and sought to reinstate Hohenzollern rule - absolute rule. While he had been satisfied with his service as a foreign dignitary, now was the chance to make a difference at home. In January 1836, Wolfram Siegfried Gotha packed his bags and went home. He had been elected into the Assembly.

Name: Maximillian Unger
Background: Maximillian Unger is the eldest son of Adolph Unger. The Unger family has long been loyal to the von Hohenzollern family. However, now with the creation of the German Republic the family loyalties have shifted towards the country instead of the former ruling family. In addition to this change the family has undergone a drastic shift in its purpose to the nation. Originally the family had served as military leaders such as Marshal Friedrich, Marshal Harold, and even Bernhard Unger's early life before the injury. With his injury Bernhard's family became men of politics and the law. Bernhard was one of the writers of the Constitution, when "Joachim Hector Linder" became Consul it was Bernhard and his son Richard who investigated the legitimacy of such an action, and it was Richard Unger who helped decrease the importance of the rank of Consul and shift the power to Chancellor during his two years at the position. Now with his father's death two years ago, Maximillian Unger seeks to further his families glory. Only Maximillian Unger does not have the skill or knowledge of his other family members behind him. Others were great lawyers or generals or diplomats, but Maximillian had been cloistered away in Mantua with nothing but his books for to long. He has no true profession. He is only a man with knowledge of the past of the Republic and his family.
Age: 58(1778)
Birthplace: Mantua (lands his family were once Counts of but still hold considerable land in)
Party affiliation: UAI (Liberals)
House: Conclave of Stadtholders

I am greatly exited for the Interactive next section, which I of course shall join :). Even though this has been decided, I still want to give me opinion on the proportional voting. I think it is a good idea, and will hopefully cut down on the election corruption that is extremely prevalent in FoE and EoE. FoE, with its electoral vote system often goes down too one or two major swing votes. This has bread a lot of contempt in FoE. The Weighted voting should make it harder for a handful of people to swing elections, and hopefully shall lead to less corrupt, and more unpredictable elections. I encourage Avindian not to slow the pace of the IAAR down to much, because I attribute some of the more positive feeling of playing EoE as apposed to FoE to EoE's faster pace. Well, this is my two cents (or your regional equivalent), and I am looking forward to the game :)

Name: Doctor Florentin Willem Graf von Wächtersbach Dr.phil.
DoB: 16th February 1778 (age: 57)
PoB: Cassel, Hesse-Kassel
Party: New Society
House: Assembly

Born to Maximilian Graf von Wächtersbach in 1778, Florentin Willem was brought up in a strict, religious background. From a young age, he had the resctionary views of his father instilled into him, though never took to them as ardently as the Graf may have hoped.

In 1797, he travelled to Frieburg where he studied economics, law and philosophy at the University. Completing his studies in 1804, he published his thesis On Reaction – a thorough, introspective look at the position of reactionary views in the new century – in 1805. The thesis received praise in academic circles, and von Wächtersbach stayed on in Freiburg to lecture on philosophy at the University.

During this time, and as a result of continued reflection on his political views, his stance softened, and he began to associate with more moderate members of the right wing. In 1808, he published a harsh attack on the views of noted reactionary historian Freidrich Anicllon – who was a personal friend of the Hohenzollerns. The paper, On the Philosophy of History, gained von Wächtersbach a degree of notoriety within academic circles, and he soon became a fashionable, controversial speaker.

In 1815, following a nine-year spell at the University of Freiburg, von Wächtersbach was forced to resign by the death of his father, and he retuned to the family estates in Cassel. It was not long, however, before he grew tired of life on the estate, once again leaving for the academia, completing a doctorate in mathematics between 1816-1820. He did not stay long at the University, however, deciding to pursue a career in politics. He was elected to the Assembly in 1822, at the age of 44. Where he has since lead a distinguished career as a noted conservative politician.

Name: Wilhelm Braun
Age: 37
Birthplace: Braunschweig
Party: New Society
House: The National Assembly
Background: Wilhelm, born in Braunschweig, is the grandnephew of Casey Braun, writer of the Constitution. In honor of his granduncle, Wilhelm graduated from the War College and served his required tour, but while serving Wilhelm discovered that he did not want to be a career military man and resigned his commission. Upon returning home to Braunschweig, Wilhelm settled down with Nicole, his childhood sweetheart, and together they had a son. However, Wilhelm began to grow restless living without a trade so he joined the field of politics. His leaving of the military was not to be confused with dislike of the Army and as such he joined the New Society. Wilhelm studiously threw himself into his work enjoying the give and take of politics. He was shortly thereafter elected to the Assembly and now stands ready for the new challenges that lay before him.
((I hope that my lack of forum experience will not preclude me from participating in this AAR.))

Name: Maximillian von Vandenburg
Born: 1800
Birthplace: München
Party affiliation: The Imperialists (Reactionary)
House: Assembly
Background: Born into a prominent and wealthy Bavarian family, Maximillian grew up hearing tales of the Hohenzollerns from his grandfather, who had heard the same stories from his grandfather and so on. As a child, he spent most of his days reading about the glory days of the Empire. Once he became an adult, he attended university, focusing mostly on history but also several subjects suited for politics. After graduation, he worked in the civil service, specifically the foreign ministry (or whatever the German equivalent is called), until he was elected to the Assembly. He believes that political power should reside in the old nobility rather than the common people. He also has a fondness for the Hohenzollerns, who he feels should rightfully rule Germany. Part of this comes from the knowledge that centuries ago his family allowed the traitor Geoffrey von Wittelsbach to use their family name, a crime Maximillian feels brought dishonour upon his family and which he must rectify through undying loyalty to the Hohenzollerns. He desires to see the Hohenzollerns return to power and will go along with anything that the royal family supports. However, he does realize that Germany has changed over the centuries and returning to an absolute monarchy is unlikely. While seeking to return to the old ways, Maximillian is fairly moderate in his reactionary views (if such a thing is possible) and is willing to compromise to get things done.

I hope I didn't miss anything important. This is my first interactive AAR. :eek:o

How are you going to call the new AAR? I am curious...

This looks better and better per moments. I hope that some one decide to enter the Alliance to have players in all parties.

I'm not touching the ideology dates, but since I don't have a functioning copy of V2 at the moment, I can only go off of the game files I do have, which indicates an 1830 start date for the A-L party (if I remember right the UK has an A-L party at game start). I will double check and make adjustments as needed.
Just checked in-game, no A-L party at the 1836 start. Also for some reason the British communist party has an earlier start date than the socialist one ('48 vs '49).

Thanks for checking, SirktheMonkey. In that case, I'll change the UAI to outright pacifism instead of anti-military; since the AAR hasn't start yet, please do change parties (those who have already create players) if you feel your character wouldn't be a pacifist.

I am also going to officially announce, here, that I anticipate beginning this new AAR on Saturday or Sunday. It may start earlier, but the re-downloads of Vicky 2 and the expansions are taking an insanely long time with my slow internet connection. Saturdays I usually do laundry, and there's a nearby restaurant/bar that I usually have lunch at with an excellent (free) WiFi connection. It does look like NNM won't be in the cards, unless I could graft the events and decisions onto the base game without bothering with the extra tags (which is what gives the converter conniptions).

((My first character ever, I hope I can come up with something good :))
Can I actually be someone from the van Oranje family? In this timeline they are obviously not kings of the Netherlands, but they can be Dutch nobles right? )

Apologies in advance for writing a bit of history for you, but it shouldn't be too hard to ignore or write around it.
Jérôme Defarge.jpg
Name: Jérôme Defarge
Born: 1789
Birthplace: Paris, France
Party affiliation: The UAI
House: The National Assembly
Background: Inspired in large part by the German Revolution, French republicans rose against the monarchy near the turn of the century. Jérôme was little more than a boy when he and his parents fled to the Holy Roman Republic after the revolution was crushed, but its fallout has defined his life. He grew into a position of political power representing the communities of French émigrés within the Republic that led to a political alliance between the UAI and the French refugees. His current seat in the National Assembly is due to that support of the UAI, but he personally has some small sympathy for the Imperialists due to his dislike of pacifism and the declaration of the German Republic.
