That sounds fun, maybe you could fit that hermetic guild event into Fredrich the Glorious’ reign like we discussed before in the context of him looking for cultist strong holds, maybe you could even use it to elaborte on the fate of Muslim Berbers and North African Arabs during the two Fredrichs’ crusades and the Pagan Resurgence (ironically including the spread of Judaism in Ethopia and the Middle East, through there was still the rise of Malian conquests) in Africa. Marco Polo sounds interesting, through other pre Age of Exploration explorers like Ibn Battuta might be to see fun mini arcs or one offs for as well.
I like the idea about searching for cultist strongholds. I was actually thinking of working in a cult stronghold located in west Africa (near where the ancient human spaceship was found) which the Kaiser would stumble across. I was also thinking of working in old legends like King Solomon's mines, which would be based on ancient human ruins the cult has made its stronghold. Could also explore the relationship between Friedrich and Gunhilda as well as the Pagan Resurgence's effects on western Africa.
I am considering one-offs for important explorers, not only scripted or historical ones like Eimerich and Ibn Battuta but also randomly generated ones which rose to prominence like Wolfram Ferdinand and Reinhard Gabriel. I might also extend this to generals and admirals like the Johann family that backed Princess Sophia during the Anarchy. Of course I won't forget about the conquistadors too.
Any other Ck2 and EU4 that's been released since this AAR's Ck2 and EU4 segments you think would have effected the story had they been in the game when you writing this megacampagin?
From pulling up the DLC features on the wiki, let's see:
Conclave's overhaul of vassal management, administrative laws, and council interactions would've spiced up the game in peacetime and avoided stuff like sitting around doing nothing during Saint Wilhelmina's 30 years of peace.
The Reaper's Due could have fleshed out epidemics and the Black Death instead of being something I tanked relatively easily because I had so much money I could just quarantine the entire Hohenzollern court until it ended. There seem to be events for solar eclipse panic (would play into Friedrich the Glorious's heliocentrism research in some way), "zombies" (could be a fun one-off...or angel shenanigans), and a "prophet of doom" (who could be a minor antagonist during the 13th Century Crisis).
Monks and Mystics obviously has the societies and loads of story potential outside the Hermetic Society.
Jade Dragon could have allowed me to bring China in earlier and adjust its 1066-1444 history to not be an almost exact copy of real life. I could have even had some Hohenzollerns head off to China, or some Chinese warlords invade Central Asia and India.
Holy Fury has coronations, sainthood, bloodlines, and artifacts. It's quite obvious what I could do with those. The revamped crusade mechanics would've made the crusades much more interesting instead of me just ordering the Pope to spam crusades every few years and then winning through overwhelming numbers. Then there's playable Hellenism which could've put Hellenic pagans on the same level as the other pagans who participated in the Resurgence. (As an aside, a future update will talk about the fate of Hellenic pagans in the modern day.)
Mandate of Heaven would again flesh out China more and formalize the multi-emperor system.
That's all I know for now. Got a list of any specific events you'd think would be great for one-offs and I didn't show in CK2/EU4?
