Really, really weird porn.
I'm often surprised that people don't realise the whole game of EU4 is just a huge masturbatory aid.

one where you use invasions to create rude shapes on the maps, to fill you up with manpower to create huge men to out man each other in homoerotic wrestling matches, which get bigger and more sensual as you progress through the game.

check the mega-Mod MEIOU&Taxes, their map is much more representative of the period
or something like that

I somewhat wish EU4 vanilla to represent trading cities in a similar fashion to M&T, such a pretty mod, it does slow down towards the end though so perhaps one day with a sleeker engine.

Wow, that sounds very informative. I'll Definitly check it out :D

https://archive.org/details/bookofknowledgeo00jimrich

"Book of All Kingdoms"

Is a fully illustrated e-book of a manuscript by a 14thC friar which EU4 grabs some flags from for itself (especially the Berber and african regions and unfortunately the Makuria-Alodia ones (Plate 15) :(). It's a superb source of not merely observed flags but a description of the travels of this anonymous friar who travelled, we assume, as far as from Mali to Persia and perhaps Delhi, although its wise not to take all his writings as bona fide fact.

Enjoy.

Also look at the country history files. Sometimes they have a note about what they're supposed to represent and can give you an idea of what to look for. Like the Kathiawar tag, for example, has this comment:
#This was really an area with many small rajput tribes and therefore this state is a bit of an abstraction. Should it manage to change government type it's to be assumed one of the tribes prevailed over the other's.

I completely agree with you on that one. I think people too often misunderstand EU4, and think it is a historical grand strategy game. It's clearly a piece of software developed to produce randy feelings. In fact, Paradox Interactive is secretly part of the Pornhub family.

I am aware that some country files contain small informative notes as I am a modder, however; these small patches of information are not as detailed as I'd like them to be. They're also quite rare; they are not in all history files.

I am aware of the existence of the nation of Styria, but I require a source (preferably primary) aswell as semi-detailed history. :)
I am aware that Itza often represents Chechen Itza, in fact I happen to find the ruins of Chechen Itza very interesting, and would like to visit them one day. What I'm trying to find out about Itza, is it's independence and the administrative capabilities it held. Itza being a city state, present at the city of Chechen Itza, doesn't necessarily represent any of it's history as an independent state.
Concerning the link: Thank you for it, it perfectly describes what Pate was, and represents a simplified political explanation of what Pate and other city states in the area did. I appreciate the link, but do you know if there is anywhere that describes Pate's history?

Thank you for the ruler List, it truly is very helpful. It proves that Pate was an independent state that did exist, however there seems to be nothing on the actual nation?

There are many historical inaccuracies in the game. Some are inevitable: It's impossible or inconvenient to place every tiny county in the game. That counts mostly for Europe. As for the rest of the world, I believe that Paradox realized at certain point that players love exotic tags, and their PC systems are powerful enough to handle them. And so many dubious states appeared. I'm not happy for that but obviously I represent a minority.
What dubious states?

I don't want to name them and get involved into recourses on history.
That's fair and all but then why even mention it? Don't mention something if you're not going to back it up afterwards. I'm curious as to which state you're referring to because I'm not fully versed in history and learning some more would be nice... so at the very least, you won't get into any debate with me.
