Absolut: that apology was for FIL

So may it be, but seeing as Maximilian II now rules Austria he will accept the apology nonetheless.

Ottoman Empire 1551-1568

Wars against Songhai and Morocco were concluded, both of them agreed to become vassals, and in 1554, Tunisia was added into the Ottoman Empire, and people rejoiced. But even still, the Sultan wasnt happy at the slow speed of the empires expansion. Several military advisors were executed and replaced. Executing people seemed to be nice motivation for those who replaced them.

Bored of always fighting on land, the Sultan decided it was time to improve our ships of war. Thus, during this period, the navy was expanded, new cannons were added to old ships and new tactics were developed. Anyone wanting to invade the Empire from sea, would have to face one of the finest navies in the world.

Border treaty was signed with Habsburgs of Austria, where the Empire ceded 3 provinces to Austria. Sultan was angry and dismayed! Negotiatiors were tortured to death and Sultan declined to speak of the treaty no more. As far as the Ottomans were concerned, there had been no border changes in Ottoman Hungary. Later a happy surprice was when ducats were going to arrive to the Ottoman treasury from Austria, but no one could remember why?

Meanwhile the Mughals were having problems with revolts, and the Sultan decided to send armies to aid subduing those revolts. What we wouldnt do to our muslim brothers. Allah Ackbar!

When the navy was finally finished, the Empire launched its expansion towards Shiite infidels in Oman. New Ottoman cannos ripped their old ships to pieces and armies of Allah landed in all key places. Quickly these worms were conqueredand soon the Omani capital fell. During the peace negotiations, Zanzibar was given to the Ottoman Empire.

From economical point of view, the Empire was showing signs of recovery from the stagnation of previous decades. Several new governors were promoted and infidels were hunted down throughout the Empire.

The mass or Russian peasantry marched pass in a shambling line that led for miles back into the country, General Shuiski peered down the telescope for signs of a german advance from the west.

Still none, and this allowed the eldery general to breathe again, an attack now could well be ruinous. Advance scouts reported that the main Brandenburg army had broken camp and crossed the border days ago but as yet they had remained as ghosts to any of the Russian patrols.

Uttering a soft prayer to God to keep them ghosts for a while longer General Shuiski nearly collapsed from relief as he turned to watch the eastern road. The last of army had moved off it, and was deploying into battle formation, Russian doctrine being as it was this did amount to round mobs rather than a formation. Sighing, the veteran led his household cavarly to join the assembling army, maybe he could force them into something more military...

As events transpired he had less time for this than imagined, the Elector's army was about to make contact and only the actions of a squadron of cossack scouts prevented total surprise being achieved.

"Wheel, wheel you sons of turks!!!" bellowed Shuiski as the vanguard smashed through the weak screening forces to his armies right flank, the centre of the Russian army milled in what appeared to be confusion as the heavy German knights continued their charge. But the hours of drills had finally paid off and the russian pikeman had formed up mere metres from the german lancers.

The result was happily predictable, the light forest coverage had slowed the lancers charge and they were simply cut to pieces by the numbers of the russian pikemen. Unfortunately the rest of the german army, all 30,000 heavily armoured men at arms were plodding through the forest. To make matters worse they also carried the newest flintlock muskets, the Russian army only had 1 of the old matchlock variety for every 3 soldiers.

His men could not stand up to any sustained fusiallade from those death weapons so the order was passed to the cavarly, they'd have to break the enemy line now or the battle was lost.

Leading his own warhorse into position the signal was hoisted above the general's standard and the 15,000 heavy and light cavarly of the Russian European Army did what it did best. The charge was something perfected by the experienced cavarlymen over the course of this war and it was a thing to terrible beauty. The deadly musket shot made no impact on the mass of the flood of horses and men, and at the point of impact the solid german line simply exploded backwards as the men were hurled back.

Carnage raged down the line as russian horses were hacked down by germans who'd had time to equip their shortswords and take revenge for their comrades who were getting split down the middle by cossack lances. As Ivan beheaded another footman he spared a glance around him, the german line was buckling but had not broken, and he could see patches were Russian cavarly was coming off worse as their momentum had been used.

Turning sharply he called his bannerman to hold up the retreat signal, running down another german halbadier he made his way back to the Russian lines. Happily most of the cavarly saw the signal and broke off, pursuit was nonexistant as the germans were not foolhardy enough to pursue in a stung out bunch.

Although the germans had not broken they had suffered terrible losses and as the russian infantry closed Ivan could see that the battle was evenly balanced. He could only hope that the cavarly and infantry reinforcment columns could arrive before the germans superior training could win the day for them...

War, intrigues and other stuff that might be interesting

Maximilian had just sent out his servant to walk his dog when he recieved word that a Spanish emissary was waiting for him outside Schönbrunn. He hastily got up and started to get dressed, he was used to lying in his underpants eating various cuisine masterworks. When he had gotten dressed he hurried down to the gates of the castle and as the servant had said, a Spanish emissary waited there. He told Maximilian that the Spaniards and French were getting together to discuss various deals and discuss the possibility to exchange different provinces. He thought this was a very nice initiative and told the emissary to send his regards to the King of Spain and tell him that he accepted his invitation.

The summit was being held at one of the French Kings residences in southern France, near the town of Montpellier. They discussed back and forth how to distribute the provinces in Italy and the Lowlands so that everyone could be happy. After a while, Austria and France reached a deal about Italy and Spain was notified of this. Austria was now under the impression that France and Spain would conduct a separate deal and went home to Bruno and his food. A few months later France had prepared to finalise the deal between Austria and France. Just as the deal was to be made Spain attacked France, for no apparent reason. Austria was somewhat confused and disliked the action taken by Spain very much. He thought about this and after talking to the French decided to join in on Frances side.

The war started with Franz Jozef leading the main army down in Italy to liberate the Italians from Spanish oppression and instead introduce Austrian oppression. He quickly took these provinces without as much as 5.000 men lost. When he reached Messine he sent over 14.000 men to siege Sicily as he didnt want to risk being trapped there. He now turned the army around and marched through Italy in to southern France where he faced the Spanish under Alba in Dauphine. This battle was lost although more casualties were inflicted on the Spanish than on the Austrians. Before he entered Italy he had sent 50.000 cavalry to aid the French in their homeland. Shortly after they arrived the helped liberating Paris and chased the Spanish army all the way in to the English Channel. Franz Jozef now linked up with his cavalry army and began to liberate the French provinces occupied by Spain, at the assault of Guyenne he fell victim to a bullet from one of the trenches surrounding the town. He was immidiately carried away to the field hospital although they could not do much to save him. He died a glorious death and he did many great deeds during his life. He later got a kings funeral in his hometown of Salzburg and were lowered in to the ground outside the the Festung Hohensalzburg.

However, the war progressed and soon Austria was ready to enter the Spanish mainland. It was now that scouts noticed large armies accross the border from Brandenburg. This meant that a campaign in Spain was impossible and soon the armies were sent back to Austria to meet the new threat. At this time, Maximilian II died due to a heart condition and his dog Bruno died due to grieving him. Very sad. Anyways, all bad things brings something good. The new monarch was Rupert II, a mightily better strategist who realised that claiming the title Defender of the Faith would be nice. After a year of savings this was claimed and he immidiately saw an improvement in the morale of the troops. Brandenburg were beaten in battle after battle and several provinces in southern Brandenburg had fallen to Austria. An army of 25.000 men had also been dispatched to take Berlin and met no resistance at all on the way. When they got to Berlin an army of 20.000 men was spotted but their commander thought that it was nothing to worry about. The assault commenced and progressed nicely until it was realised that they wouldnt give up. An army of 40.000 men was now spotted coming in from the north and a retreat was ordered. Out of the 25.000 men that started the trip around 13.000 made it back to Kassel.

At this time the Ottomans had started an offensive in to Austria, which was busy with Brandenburg. The armies were now readied to meet this threat and withouth someone to lead them this proved to be harder than Rupert first had thought. Slow and steady the Ottmans were pushed back out of Austria and Vienna was recaptured from the Ottomans. The war in the south progressed this way for a year or so until the Ottomans decided to withdraw, allowing us to siege some of the provinces behind the front. At the moment the two armies are about equal in strength and it should be a nice fight once a general appears to lead the Austrians. Until then, nothing new is expected to happen, unless the Ottomans decide to attack. The resistance Austria met was the hardest so far and it has really been an interesting fight.

Long years of peace and prosperity in Spain then,

Spain opened negotiations with France to see if there was a possibility to exchange core territories. We asked for Flanders and Hanaut, and offered Italian provinces with the added bonus that France could gain a land connection to annex their vassal Naples. France replied that their only interest of Italy was Genoa. We didn't think Austria would be interested but offered to bring it up with them to show good faith.

Suprisingly Austria liked the the idea and we informed them (as we did France) that Spain would be willing to leave Italy for the two Dutch provinces. Basically our offer was Those 2 can divide up Italy any way they want (we have 5 provinces there).

Suddenly we realize that France has cut us out of the negotiations and has brokered a deal to take possesion of Genoa in exchange for one(1) minor Italian province. /? We tried to make sense of it but couldn't, although we had our suspicions..

Alba was in the Netherlands 100k strong, and Farnese in Iberia with 70k. Legal councils had been promoted throughout the empire, and France was converting all her provinces. We sent a state gift to England and asked if she would watch for rebellions across the channel for us if we went to war. Since France was obviously stalling and in the process of bribing my ally this seemed a good time to attack.

Initially we hoped to overrun France quick, a nice tidy war and acquire our provinces of Flanders and Hanaut. Alba had some success quickly taking those two then moving on to Paris. Farnese was less successful assaulted Armagnac but failed, still French attempts to dislodge him were rebuffed. France gathered many armies around Paris and engaged us several times. We won the battles but attrition took its toll and we withdrew.

In the south reinforcements arrived and Farnese moved on to Langeudoc > Lyon > Bourgogne. We demanded Flanders at one point when refusing would cost France stabilty, they refused. Again with Hanuat added and refused. About this time Austria joins alliance with France and takes our undefended Italian cities. (Our suspicions were proven true and that's why France didn't accept) The Austrians also combined with the French trying to destroy our armies. We managed to send what few remained to our fleet waiting in the channel, and transport them to Iberia. There, they tried to join with our forces Besieging southern France. Alba was caught and killed by the Austrian backstabbers.

The war quickly turned, our offer of white peace was refused. We needed help and appealed to the Ottomans, Brandenburg, and England. The former two came to our aid as we endured stab hitting peace offers from France. Russia joined the evil allies some time after. With the help of the Ottomans Italy was soon liberated. Austrian troops all turned and headed out of sight to Brandenburg we assume.

Italy is now all but controlled by Spain, The Netherlands are controlled by France. Austria is in ruins, and Brandenburg is struggling (but perservering) having been targeted by the 3 of them.

We'd hoped for a quick war where France would quickly see the futility and relent. Being as they had indeed sucessfully bribed Austria that wasn't be. The war has disrupted our colonization, trade, etc and for this we are sad. But in a way we are glad that it happened. We found out who our real friends are, and won't feel obliged to state gift the Backstabbing Austrians any longer.

Ottoman Empire 1568-1584

Year 1568, a peaceful year. Expansion in Africa continued. Armies, colonists and missionaries were sent to deepest parts of this dark continent, to explore and spread the word of Allah. A short war was fought with some african natives, but, news of that didnt even reach streets of capital. Sultan shrugged it off aswell, he had more important things to worry: "I like impaling more, than burning alive. I want all infidels we capture be impaled."

Peace reigned in the Ottoman Empire, trade flourished, new ways to trade was discovered to trick the stupid infidel merchants. More tax collectors and governors were hired, larger army was being built. Only worthwhile event was when Morocco joined the Empire peacefully. People rejoiced. Quietly did the years roll on...

Then Spain declared war on France. At first, Sultan wanted to stay neutral, but once Austria joined on the french side, it was time for Ottoman Empire to intervene in the conflict. French-Austrian alliance would have been too powerful alliance to tolerate.

Thus with Brandenburg, Ottoman Empire declared war on Austria. At first the Ottoman armies landed in Italy, and liberated Spanish cities, then they turned their attention towards heart of Austria. The border that had been unchanged for over 100 years, was crossed and Ottoman armies were inside Austria. Virtually undefended, Ottoman armies advanced deep, and even the Austrian capital fell. Austrians managed to capture it once, but soon after it was taken again.

he History of the Middle Kingdom 1538-1600

By Blayne Bradley

This period of Chinese history will be the period where the sleeping Dragon of China begins to stir and stir it will. In 1538 China has 62 provinces, the largest pure national manpower of 248.4, 6 colonies of note. A stable and efficient government, and a wise and stronger Emperor under Jiajing.

China’s foreign policy was only beginning to become expansionary with the acquisition of Dai Vet as a tributary state. And a host of royal marriages between the Chinese Imperial family and many foreign powers such as the Mughals in an effort to maintain the peace.

Domestically, China was wealthy, possessing a large reserve of currency, a massive yearly income of over 2600 Ducats a year! On the trading front China possessed three profitable Center of Trades and maintained a monopoly on all of them.

China at this time possessed 8 Manufactories further increasing China’s wealthy, and China’s aggressive General Staff in budget matters ensured that all of China’s provinces were fortified.

At this time China’s military was massively increased resulting in “real terms” of a far more advanced military advancing from LT 4 – LT 13.

Chna, economically, militarily, and politically was most probably the most advanced and powerful nation in the world.

vietnam2.bmp

Vietnaaam.bmp

Above between the years 1538-1600 the Chinese would claim full control of Dai Vet and after a brief war with Camboia released Annam as a puppet.

vassal%20seasia.bmp

The Chinese Empire would between the militant years of 1538-1551 launch a lightning quick campaign that would utterly crush all of Indo China and force them all into tributary states of the Middle Kingdom.

chiexplore.bmp

Also in this time China would fully explore South East Asia, partially in thanks to the maps gained from the peace treaties with the new puppets.

chiexplore2.bmp

Also in this time span Ambassadors have been sent to various European nations in order to facilitate friendship between the Middle Kingdom and its future vassals.

Between 1551-1568 were however far more troublesome years for China, as China’s intervention into the chaos of Indo-China has had negative results, the people just did not seem to understand China’s benign influence on the region and revolted sporadically and eventually because of incompetence on the behalf of the Puppet governments these insurrections became full fledged resistance movements attempting to topple their legitimate rulers and attack Chinese peacekeepers.

annam.bmp

The Emperor reacted by firstly ceding territory in Southernmost Dai Vet to Champa who were holding out far better then they’re counter parts.

chinese%20tech.bmp

The violence encouraged greater focus onto the military and as a result the Military reached Land tech 16 and Naval tech 12 in this transitional period.

russiaindia.bmp

Also in India thigns looked grim as the Russians in an act of aggression attacked Vijahanar and claimed their Center fo Trade and established many colonies n the area relations soured between China and Russia.

Continuing to 1600 China gets even stronger relatively by being the first nation to simultaneously reach LT 18 and NT 18 and pssesing the most Center of Trades, trade tech however very unfortunately begins to wane as does Infastructure tech but the latest Emperor Wanli appears to have his sight set on setting his house in order and allocate more funs to improving the infrastructure of China.

This period also shows the first conflict between China and England, before they nearly clashed over Englands attempt to attack a Chinese vassal in Indo China but relented and ceded the gained territory to Chinese administration instead.

However it would seem that peace could not last forever and war broke out again in China’s more remote Colony. Vanh Ku Gwor. Which has appeared to have been resolved as a Chinese victory, with the ceding of English trading interests in the region to China and China made a gesture to mind the fence by giving a state gift to England.

End of Chapter.
