Spain, with a CB on most countries of the world, decided to use one to help Aragon retrieve her lost Italian islands first thing. The Papal States and Venice must've thought us weakened from this war and DoWed us. So we picked up Marche from them and Naples annexed Rome later on. We were contemplating sending troops to Venice and even sent our ships to thier seazone. Fifty thousand+ troops stationed there. Since we had other plans other places soon it didn't seem smart attack. We also invited Genoa to our alliance.

Christopher Columbus discovered the Aztec empire while fighting pirates along the way. Then, returned home and picked up 40,000 troops commanded by El Gran Capitan. Transported them to visit these Aztecs where they were welcomed as gods by Montezuma or somebody. Then, Christopher, transported El Capitan back to Iberia exploring new sea zones along the way. Now he is exploring the Caribbean. He has been highly productive.

Russian AAR :rar:

War Exhaustion was at 6, due to a war against Denmark and Oldenburg...depressing as it is this gets a whole lots worse. Troops numbers were at a nice 10,000 cavarly. Monthly income was a lowly 28 ducats. A loan of 200 was due. And the Timiruids had blocked Siberia.

And then Poland and Lithunia declares war.

Getting to it at once the Czar begs for loan repayment money, which he receives. Sure paying back the loan had used up the census as well, so no troops could be built but not to worry.

After spending a year killing isolated Lithunian armies the next years census was used to build about 20,000 infantry who then seiged the desolate Lithunian steppes, mighty successfully.

Unfortunately most of those 20,000 troops were killed off the following winter, fortunately the lovely census could be used to hire more. After many years of this pattern Russian WE was 8, and RR was reaching 20 in many provinces. Peace was agreed with Lithunia for 3 border provinces and with Poland for the Donetsk.

Swedne meanwhile had taken Pomerenia (a CoT) in the process annoying Brandenburg. Sweden asked for Russian help in defending the baltic, the Czar being a tricky bastard agreed then sent a message of support to the Margrave of Brandenburg. Sweden owning Ingria and Kexholm was an affront to all Russians after all, and Micheal Glinski's armies hungered for vengeance.

And so with Sweden being beaten under by the Brandenburgian arquebusier attack the Czar brutally stabbed Sweden in the back for the Russian cores, and such was the brutallity and the military might of Glinski that the Swede's folded and surrendered all of the provinces.

Gladdened by such success the Czar attacked Lithunia again, taking 3 provinces of the Orthodox faith and was satisifed, proclaiming the Empire of Russia in the new year of 1520

Spain

Spain entered the 16th century with great expectations.
Some were realized, others squelched..

Two conquistadors were cut down in thier primes. †Ponce de Leon, and †Panifilo de Narvaez killed by hostile natives shortly after birth, squelched.

Nunez de Balboa was given command of a small regiment with orders to conqueor the newly discovered Inca empire.

inca.png

Prospero Colonna was also sent to the continent to assist with subjugating the native populace. Unfortunately they were involved in a war with Chimu and suffering war exhaustion. We decided not to chance getting big THREE bb points per province should their government collaspe during the fighting. Also swaying our decision was the fact a war was brewing in Europe and these pagans would only hamper our ability to wage it. Balboa was re-assigned to exploration duty and mapped most of the Inca territory before he died † squelched.

We had better luck on the open seas. All of the North Atlantic has been explored along with most coastal provinces occupying it. We successfully established new naval supply bases to further our explorations. We have rounded the southern tips of Africa, and South America so far that we've reached our Pacific ports in New Tenochtitland. We've colonized 3 new gold mining cities, and another that's spawned a center of trade.

To our delight yet another CoT spawns in our lands.

pinzion.png

Twenty years from now and we might get a few monopolies..

Back on the mainland more dreams are squelched. Aragon is livid wanting war, war, war! The pity is their primary target are our brother Habsburgs. They DoW, we white peace. They immediately DoW again to the same Habsburg alliance. We leave them to thier own -3 stability, and take the lesser -1 stability by declining the alliance call. So these warmongers are sitting with no troops that can actually fight in Italy because they have no navy and all the troops are in Iberia.

lividaragon.png

So they lose Pisa when our kingdoms are joined 2 years later. Also squelching our goal of diplo-vassal-anexing Genoa who we've been priming for the past 20 years.

The French began preperations and then invaded Aragon. When they realize that we would not sit idly by and allow it, they turn their war machine towards Venice. There they learn the Turks aren't going to sit idle and allow that. Last, but not least they learn that alliance has been formed against them as we send a declaration of war. They've promptly ignored our diplomats in the past. Now they are forced to listen.

We have a slight edge in military training which has allowed us to successfully fend off larger french armies in defensive terrain.

fvs.png

We've managed to capture Gascogne, and Provence. Dauphine is under siege and has been breached. Our leaders General Duke of Alba, Field Marshal Marques de Pescara, and Major General Carlos de Lannoy are all commanding regiments in French territory and doing fine jobs. The navy captured a small French fleet and sent them to the Mediterranean depths still, a large French navy was last spotted of the coast of Venice and we haven't forgotten them. We had hoped the French monarch would be reasonable and accept our generous peace proposal, but it seems he's going to be stubborn. Although his armies have fought valiantly, they are slowly losing territory and it's only a matter of time.

Brandenburg

The Brandenburg kingdom had a new regent in Joachim I Nestor and he had been raised to despise the Polish people for what they done in the past. He raised an army and plotted with the habsburg dynasty to the south. First Joachim annexed Saxony and when he understood that it was a gold mine in Meissen he became even more happy. An annexation of Vorpommern gave us one more province and more armies under our flag + a small navy.

The Habsburgians attacked and invited Brandenburg to the war and the Brandenburgian army flooded the border under the leadership of Casimir. We came to Pomerelia and met a swedish general named Hemming gadh. He told that the swedish army didn't want to fight in Poland to gain a simple town in Poland and laft the siege to Brandenburg. The war was under control and we occupied more provinces than we wanted and when we were about to peace the Habsburgian leader did something evil. He used BBs warscore to get more provs for himself and this made Joachim think.

Many diplomats came from countries around the world: from the north (Sweden), from the south (Austria), from the west (Spain and France) and from the east (Ottoman empire and a yellow small guy that we executed immidiatly). Rumors was that Sweden had taken Pomerelia anyway even though BB had said he would take it at any cost. And released a vassal in Pommern to block our way Joachim thought. Austria wanted to apologize for what they've done and the others wanted Joachim to join their plots.

Joachim fell in a time of sickness and we bought the best doctors to try to heal this succesful ruler

Well the years went and when Joachim recovered from his sickness and started an attack against Sweden almost immediently. 14k soldiers was landed in sweden before The fleet was sunk and they managed to grab the capitol of sweden. This was a cold and ugly place and the soldiers didn't like béing there. The soldiers didn't have time to complain because they were wiped out really fast by winter and swedish troops. A Muscovian diplomat wanted to join the war and Joachim accepted of course. The war was still for some moments before sweden accepted peace giving Brandenburg Pomerelia

Joachim was happy and annexed the Mecklenburgian vassal thus incorporating more taxes to the crown.

The french to the west always wanted good relations but Joachim was a greedy bastard and joined an alliance against France quickly. We had learned the french way of fighting and now it was time for us to use it.

France DoWed Aragon (Spanish vassal) and Spain reacted by annexing aragon (at least the rumor goes that way in Germany) Joachim joined an alliance with Spain and the preparations was finished. the only thing left was a DoW.

It came and The germans was good at flooding borders and we reached the river Rhine and stopped to siege the german provs. It worked fine and we got three provinces before the french army came. The battle of geniouses started.

20k germans started the battle against 40 k Frenchmen. The hold on til Casimir came and saved the day by bringing 40k more soldiers to the battlefield and the french came with more troops to and the battle was won by BB but not the war as BOB said in his seat in the coldest part of europe.

The french came back after an unsuccesful assault (40k inf vs. 8k) and we lost big time. casimir is fleeing towards the Brandenburgian border to meet up with the new troops and if we are lucky the river will help us win this war :D

Austria
1502-1520

The Mideval Age was now over and a new one was starting :The Renaissance...However litle had changed in Austria as the army was still fighting with pikes instead of muskets and humiliation from previous defeat by French hands still echoed the streets...
As the new era unfolded Austrian people had only one thing in mind to revover the lost proud and to do this new tecnologies had to be researched but this would not be all has a new mentalaty had to be installed and so Austria became the most Inovative country in all Europe and perhaps in the intire World...
At start research was carried at low pace as reforms were taking place but soon it got in the right path but before all mighy France could be dealt with another matter needed to be attended...

Polish Sucession War:
(countrys in alphabetic order...)
On one side:Hungary,Lithuania,Poland...
On the other side:Austria,Bohemia,Brandenburg,Tuscany...

Poland had maintained a grasp over Hungary for to much time but this was not all as both Austria and Brandenburg now had claims on Polish soil...
The Austrian/Branderburg coalition quickly overcame the poor Polish atempt to defend themselfs and Austria gained much land from it with help from their German friends...(sorry for peacing you out BB to many time playing SP)

This however lead to tensions between Branderburg and Sweden since both countrys wanted the same Polish province and so both countrys started to ask for Austrian intervention...
However Austria didnt want a war and wished only peace as she thought a deal could be made between both countrys and decided to grant a defensive pact to Sweden...no deals were concluded with Branderburg as they did not ask for such deals and only wanted Hab intervention in invading Sweden...

However Brandenburg did get the upper hand of the conflict before expected and DOWed Sweden but as mentioned above Austria decided to stay neutral as she did not wanted to invade nor Brandenburg nor Sweden...Austria only wished the countrys to sit down and resolve the situation peacefully...

But once again the inevitable War for Renaissance Dominion (France vs Spa/Hab/BB) was in Austrias thouths...
The army army now had the best weapons avaiable and even a short time after the begining of the war it was one of the best alongside with france and OE...Their training was also more even with the rest of Europe and soon after the war perhaps it will be one of the best as new firing ranges will be open ...
However this war will still rage Europe for some more time and its victor/s will surely get on the new era with more confidence...

Ottoman Empire 1502-1520

After decades of corruption and shift away from islamic values, iron rule has returned into the capital. Once more true islamic values are followed under the guidance of new Sultan.

Internal problems were challenge to the Empire, and a program was started to convert infidels into the one true faith. Several provinces were converted to the one true faith, and anyone who resisted was tortured and strangled to death.

As always, war is good distraction to people, and war was declared against Crimea, Ak Koyunlu and Tripoli. After short war, many provinces were added to the Empire and now western part of the Ottoman Empire was united to eastern part and capital with land connection. Only Northern Africa was without direct connection to the great city. Tripoli and Crimea were also made as vassals.

Fools in Tunisia thought that they could exploit the situation, and they declared war against the new Ottoman vassal Tripoli, and annexed them. This was unaccetable, and soon enough Ottoman troops had conquered all of Tunisia. After peace negotiations, several new provinces were added to the Empire, and Tunisia became vassal of the Ottoman Empire.

When Sultan was busy hunting down infidels and impaling them.. erm, converting to the one true faith, infidel french King sent a request to the Ottoman Empire for military access, they wanted to invade Venice. Seeing no profit for accepting such, the Sultan declined. Next move from the French was that they demanded for military access. Who do they think we are? Some small neighbour of theirs they can bully into submission? Sultan decided to teach them a lesson, and a navy was built. While the Ottomans were busy building the fleet, other infidel nations declared war on France, and Sultan decided it was time to strike. French navy, that had moved to blockade Venice, was beaten and sent back to home.

Hoisting the Russian Banner

Ivan III waited patiently for the ambassador from Delhi to step forward of his retinue of bodyguards and bureacrats. He waited patiently on the steps of the Kremlin, rebuilt after its destruction by rampaging Timiruid armies.
In front of him lay the New Moscow, not the slowly decaying ruin it had been for the past 100 years, a new vibrant city, if not a beacon to the world at least a symbol of what Russia could, and would be.

Immediately visible was the newly erected merchant quarter, growing rapidly with the innovation of monopolistic structure in the minds of all Russian traders. Behind it lay the new barracks, capable of recruiting over 20,000 infantry and horse, not advanced but brave beyond reason. And around these 2 centrepieces lay Moscow itself, clean and vastly prosperous by Russian standards.

Greeting the ambassador with a bow suitable for an equal, he noticed the man's rank, he was one of the many sons of Babur and by his decorations had fought valiantly and risen high in the Mughal invasion of India.

"Greetings, welcome to Moscow, any emissary of the mighty Humayun is always welcome here." Giving a mental chuckle Ivan remembered a time when Russian men fought and died without rest against the vast asian hordes commanded by the previous Emperors. Thousands of Russians died to try to push back the Timiruid armies and in the end all for nought.

He had realised soon after taking the throne that war with the Mughals was an idea for foolish catholic crusaders or nobles too blinded by an insult to think as they must. Siberia had been lost years ago but it simply had not been accepted, so the first diplomat bearing a message that was not directly related to war was sent. And perhaps equally surprising was that the new Mughal emperor, Babur Ivan though was his name accepted.

A new way of life was born, Russia had been beaten and now must live with it, but Ivan had always been able to make the best of a bad situation, and in return for acceptance of the defacto loss of Siberia Russia asked for friendship in the form of money or troops should Russia be in direst need.

Babur accepted and a friendly relationship was begun, with Islam even beginning to become tolerated amongst the Boyars of the southern plains in thanks for the Mughal's generousity and commitment to peace.

All this flashed through Ivan's mind as the emmissary, named Jalid Khan, bowed back ritually.

"So my friend, tell us about the state of Russia now, we in the Empire always wish to know how our friendship has helped." Ivan immediately thought that the emissary was inexpertly trying to spy out Russian circumstances for intelligence purposes, yet he was aware that the Mughals did not need to resort to such tactics, they had the men and resources to flatten Russia in months. Perhaps the man simply did care what happened, Muslims did have strange notions.

"All is progressing well to the west, the Kings of Poland and Lithunia have recognised Russia as their suzerian and intergration of their lands will take place within the next 10 years. Conversion of catholics has been totally successful in Ingria, we thank your nation for its funds there. Alas the catholics in Poland are slower to shed their corrupt ways."

"Why you christians cannot live in peace will never cease to amaze me, in Mughal India Hindu's are respected, yet you persecute people who believe in God and the Trinity as you do."

"One must follow this wishes of the people and nobility every now and again Jalid, otherwise they become...restive and without the late Mikhael Glinski leading our armies I do not wish to face any army in the field. To be frank our army is the joke of Europe, not a single firearm has been produced in Russia nor supplied to our troops and I fear for the consquences should anyone else invade us."

"Do not worry, the might of Babur's nation is behind you should such an eventuality come to pass"

Ivan wondered what had become of his nation to depend so on foreign, infidel even aid. Still what had to be endured could be, and he would make Russia stronger for his son, Ivan IV already nicknamed the terrible for his battle skills.

BRANDENBURG

The king Joachim looked at his newly arrived army that had came back from the succesful war against France where Brandenburg had gained Westfalen and Nassau.

-Men of northern Germany I have something important to tell you!!
while you were away, a man named Luther had put up some theses and declared war against the catholics. I have chosen, as almost every single province within our border, to follow this man and to follow his faith. This means we will take a lot of property from the church and that our nation will be richer than ever. WE ARE NOW PROTESTANTS!!

Joachim let Casimir talk a little to his men but soon he came back to say:

-we still have problems in the east with the unstable Polish men that try to plot against our glorious nation. We and our german brothers has chosen to attack Poland but first Austria has to settle his war with France.

-My son Joachim II Hektor will be my succesor from now on and I will retire now and hope that he will rule my country as good as I have done

Joachim II Hektor has won the peoples trust and the unstable lands grew powerful once again.

After Russia decided to attack Poland Joachim II chose to react. He told the Russian leader that the protestant provinces was for him. Russia accepted and Joachim saw his chance to attack. he tricked the Poles to give Brandenburg military access. Austria attacked soon after and Brandenburg joined. The war took about 3 months and by then Brandenburg got three provinces from Poland, all protestant. Now with full stability in German lands Joachim chose to build a refinery in Brandenburg. The economy flourished and Brandenburg started to send merchants to the Centers of Trade in Wismar and Pomerelia trying to introduce a monopoly there.

Missionaries was sent to provinces within Brandenburgs borders and they have succesfully converted Oberpfalz and Straubing.

Joachim II Hektor wants to colonize in distant lands too but sadly he won't be able to within his lifetime.

The war with France rages on..
The French monarchs messengers(let's call them ISP for short) became very unreliable so The Russian Czar decides that he is the only one qualified to act in his stead. The waiting French regent is booted to Russia with orders along the lines of "don't do anything", "your orders, as a sub, are to make sure the land tech slider stays pinned to the right", "etc". We suspect he sent aid too.

We managed to take Armagnac, and Langeudoc. Rebels forced us to divert troops to Tago which had been auto-captured and the rebel army was moving to liberate Portugal. The French regent declares Defender of the Faith, and coupled with his new tech level our advantage is gone. Dauphine is lost and a battle is fought in Langeudoc. We're suprised by more cavalry than expected, in an instant our army is cut to 20%. Captured and annihilated soon after.

All our offensive troops are gone and we try to keep rebels contained. Granada has fallen to them and now Gibraltar, and Catalonia are under siege. Even our capital had rebels that needed to be extinguished. Exploration, and colonization comes to a standstill as we try to keep up at home.

We try to appeal to the French citizens to force thier government to accept our peace terms. Two stabhits are rejected and two provinces occupied by us are about to fall any day denying us the stabhit ability. Luckily our friends in Brandenburg are having a better go of it. We lose a province but they gain one.
The French king returns and accepts our offer: two province to Brandenburg, 150 ducats, and relinquishing the title Defender of the Faith. It was a pity we had to leave Austria alone vs. France but we had no choice. Things were collapsing faster than we could keep up.

Soon after our event revolt risk subsided and we quelled the rebels. Balboa attacked the Chimu, and Inca empires and those wars were over almost instantly when the Inca government collapsed, and the Chimu offered us 550 ducats. A state gift was sent to Austria but it was too late. They soon gave up their Italian possesions to the French.

Exploration is renewed, and the South Americans soon annexed. Our most important discovery are Governors. They can handle inflation. A loan is taken, and gold is minted in an effort to appoint them everywhere. Inflation rises to 3% when we stop minting. That still wasn't enough to promote everywhere but we have to keep strict inflation control 3% is the max.

France decalres war on us. We suspect the Russians were using thier daughter whom we've married to spy us and feed our military info to the French, thus, the DoW. First we annuled the marriage and sent the Russian princess to the pillory in Seville town center. There she is ridiculed, soon we will send her to our dungeon where she will be concubine to our dregs, finally we will send her to the guillotine before sending her home to mother Russia where she belongs.

Anyway we're caught off guard. Most of our army is exploring, and garrisonning the New World. Troops are conscripted as waves of French troops flood over the border. Pleas are sent to Austria for help, no response. Very soon we are overrun and the best we can do is defend our pillory/maps in Seville, and try to lift sieges in bordering provinces. More rebels pop up in Portugal but we're paralyzed to defend our capitol and can't move on them. Luckily the benevolent English take pity and defeat the rebel armies for us. We ask the French what their demands are and told three Italian provinces. We agree and they honorably withdraw from Iberia.

Exceptional year happens and we mint again to 3% and promote governors in the remaining provinces with the cash. Also sent some missionaries to the New World.

There we are.

Thought I took a screenshot of a great battle in Seville where, the French and our armies both went to panic but battled on for what seemed like forever.

I will edit in a map later.

Austria
1520-1537

The War for Renaissance Dominion (France vs Spa/Hab/BB) was going ok to Austria but soon things started to turn as Spain saw her armies destroyed by the French cavalry...now that Spain could not help France could concentrate on Austria and so they did...
However French cavalry men did not had a good time on the Austrian Alps as the Austrians knew what was coming and entrenched heavily on the mountains making it harder for the French to break through...However there were to many French and to few Austrians to cover all of Austria`s possessions and so eventualy North Italy became unprotected ,the French quicly took advantage and later peace was signed ...North Italy was now in French hands...

But Austrian scintists were trying to solve Austrias defensive problem although they did not do it in time they may do so in the near future...

Austria was in debt to her german brothers and so war was declared to Poland to let Brandergurg get what should be theirs...The war ended and Branderburg got away with what they wanted and Austria managed to take a prov from dying Hungary...
In the meantime Bohemia joined and Hungary will soon follow as this once powerful medieval states now face terrible dificulties in this new era and so look forward to join one of the most inovativenness nations of the world...

Austria may be small in size but her army is one of the best of the world(9-Quality/ 9-Ofensive Doctrine) as its trained only to fight and it is equiped with the best weapons avaiable (CRT soon) and will become even more capable over time...

But while other nations are sailing are colonising Austria still remains in Europe will Austria manage to overcome this terrible handicap?

The History of the Middle Kingdom 1419-1537

China in 1420-1437:

chi1.JPG

chi2.JPG

China’s path to her Golden Age began in 1419 with the start of the Admiral-Explorer Zheng He and his famous explorations of the North-East Expedition to the Americas. This expedition would have many unseen consequences on Chinese society culminating with the Imperial Edict of Outward Expansion where China was to become the Central Kingdom, the Kingdom where all the world and Heavens revolve around China. For a time China had 3 good Emperors and about 10 years of the reign of Zhengtong who was mediocre at best however Zhengtong has one great accomplishment though it was he that signed the Charter for the establishment of China’s first Colony in the new world, however the political instabilities caused by the Outward Expansion movement caused such instability as to make this event no more but a prestigious side show unfortunately.

The Sino-Mongol Wars: China Strikes Back!

In 1470 The first Mongolian armies began crossing the border lands and began raiding Imperial border towns and massacring patrols, within a month these attacks had escalated into a full blown invasion and caught the Imperial Army of the North off guard and within a year much of Northern China was overrun.

ch6.JPG

The Black is Mongolian Advances after one year, the Kugrik Khan had boosted that once the Forbidden City falls the rest of China will collapse within five years,

Howver The Mongolians while able thanks to surprise and poor management of the war by the Chinese Generalship were able to run wild until the Emperor Chenghua took control of the situation and gave command of the Imperial Army to General Han-Tzu a distant and obscure relation and had recently gained the Emperor’s attention when with only a host of 5000 defeated a Mongolian charge of 30,000.

Han-Tzu reformed the army command structure and reorganized its logistical department and began a campaign of vigorous counter attacks firstly blunting the Mongolian invasion and then began pushing them back and ended with the victorious routing of the main invasion force with the successful counter invasion of Mongolia.

As a result of this war Mongolia’s power was broken and would soon find herself stuck in a quagmire of wars in Tibet and the Chagotai Khanate as they sought to reassert themselves at Mongolian Horde’s expense and China would dominate Manchu politics with the acquisition of valuable territory.

ch7.JPG

Red/Brown being Sino-Manchu Armies advancing into Mongolian Territory. The Emperor thanks to this war was able to gain valuable maps from the Mongols and with them the keys to diplomatic access to the Europeans freeing China from its semi-isolation n Asia speeding up economic and technological growth.

ch8.JPG

Chinese extent of Geographical knowledge in 1482 after gaining Mongolian maps.

ch9.JPG

From 1482-1501 Nothing really changed in Asia for China, although Mongolia managed to recover somewhat from its disastrous invasion of China by annexing most of the Khans. However one important note is that to head off a Japanese incursion in Korea, the Koreans were made a protectorate vassal state and Chinese interest in Indo-Chinese politics increased. The technological land advantages of Europe while far away still made the Chinese nervous and extensive resources were beginning to be invested into the armed forces despite objections from the Confucian bureaucracy.

From 1517-1537

From 1501-1537 were turbulent years as Korea by plebiscite became under the direct administration of China and thus 5 new provinces were added to the list. Manchu would soon follow as the cultural, economic and military impact was far to great to be resisted forever. To the west Church bells rang nearly defeaning the Chinese Ambassador to the newly formed Russian Empire and further changing the socio-political scene is the reincorporation of the Timmurid Empire into the Great Mughal Empire (aka “Muggles” as termed by certain members of the General Staff) and finally the incorporation of Tibet into the revived Mongol Empire. All these events were worrisome for the Emperor but China continues on, and what will commence in the next 30 or so years only time will tell.

Ottoman Empire 1520-1537

At the beginning of 1520, the Sultan had grown tired of the war against France, and peaced them immediately. It was time to concentrate on more important things than infidel wars.

Outwards expansion started in earnest, first target was Venice. Cyprus and Venetian holdings in northern shores of blacksea were easily added to the Empire. After Venice, Mameluks were attacked and annexed, in Cairo, the Sultan declared himself Caliph of all muslims. After Mameluks were conquered Ottoman armies marched into central africa, exploring and conquering the natives, and spreading the word of Allah.

Economics prospered too, Ottoman Empire was the richest and most advanced in technology and research. Several people, mainly mayors, were promoted to Governors to battle the rampart inflation caused by predecessors of the current ruling family.

Diplomatic front wasnt neglected either, and good relations prospered with all Ottoman neighbours, Russians even helped the Ottoman Empire to liberate provinces from Lithuania. Perhaps the most important diplomatic treaty was signed with Timurids, a defensive pact between brothers in faith.

All was well in Ottoman Empire.

BRANDENBURG 1537-1551

The peaceful times didn't last for long...

The game started of nice with some cash peace and good stability. People in Brandenburg loved it's ruler Joachim II Hektor and he choose to keep up with the other europeans in land technology so he gave a lot of money to the army.

The alliance between Habsburg Austria and Spain + Brandenburg still had some roots in the diplomacy and a plot was discussed against the evil french who had tricked the germans to let France attack Spain. Brandenburg started of with building an army of 100k soldiers with a half of them cavalry.

Two generals popped up at the same time: Johann Georg and Alcibaldes. A declaration of war was sent and they attacked the german provinces of Kleves and Berg. Austria and Spain took care of the south and soon Ottoman Empire joined. The war went really nice to the north where we had captured Berg and Kleves and were aiming for places deeper into France when we got a messege that Austria weren't defending the Netherlands and we soon got an army there to wipe them out. Then a shocking DoW happened from Oldenburg one of the last duchies in Germany. We sent our army in Netherlands and merged them with some in Hannover to fight the evil alliance. A peace was soon offered where Oldenburg was annexed into Brandenburgs borders.

The war against the french remained the same to the north. But to the south there was a major change: Spain had left the war! Now we saw a 60k cavalry force approaching Pfalz. 40k german infantry were already stationed in Pfalz and they couldn't escape so their leader (Alcibaldes) came up with a great idea where his 40 k men hid in the forest and wait for the other men in Nassau (40k inf) to come. It started with the cavalry charging the forest and it was a man for a man fight where the Brandenburgians had greater morale and then the other 40 k soldiers came to settle the fight.

A Glorious Victory

After that the french peaced giving Brandenburg Kleves and Berg and Kleves were soon released to be a vassal of Brandenburg.

BB's tresury holds a lot of cash and it's ruler wants peace now to regain stab etc. he will tech infra for something called majors too.

Spain

Colonization of the New World continues..
The islands of Cuba, Puerto Rico, and now Haiti, and Trinidad. Grain provinces in South America, and a few more gold provinces.

Strategic plans are devised to kick France out of Italy once and for all. In the process leaving Carlos, and the Habsburgs in much better positions to counter them in the future. The plans were.. Once in war vs. France to DoW all her vassals. Careful consideration was given to who should DoW, and who should take what, in an effort to maximise our gains in as little a timeframe as possible.

So we start screaming at Hab to DoW Genoa (as planned) over and over. Our relations are high, and we have military access. The Habs relations are low, still nothing. We send traders hoping to get embargoed, no luck. So we go on and take the 5 stability hit to DoW them ourselves. Then as we're mobilizing Hab starts sieging Genoa almost ruining our plans to annex them in one war and not following our carefully planned strategy. Luckily we had Alba in the area to take over the siege so we could actually take their two crappy provinces leaving the jewel Genoa easily annexed by Hab.

Then we start telling Hab to DoW Naples, another country we have military access through and high relations. They also have the nicest 5 manpower province that we're coveting and is going to be our best gain this war. This time Hab DoWs but doesn't invite us. We're pissed and the plans for Helvetia are scratched.

The war vs. France was much nicer than our last. Italy was quickly overrun, diversionary sieges set up in the southwest. Provence, and
Dauphine attacked, Langdeloc baited to draw some French armies who were massing in northern Italy stalemating the Hab armies.

The French put up great resistance and soon our armies west of the Alps were all annihilated. The Ottomans landed big armies to help the axis-of-good-guys.

after

Let's not forget to mention our ally Brandenburgians who fought in the north and also gaining land.

After the war was over we sent diplomats asking Hab to explain her actions. The Genovese affair, which cost us at least a year of research to placate the populace. The Napoli affair, which denied us arguably the best province we could have gained this war. We were waiting for the response to also ask them why they left us hanging, signing a NAP with the French last war when, we had promised to defend them no matter what, no matter who, win or lose, to the end.

We've bent over backwards, created enemies where we might have peacefully co-existed, to help the Habsburgs. They've been flaky at best throughout.

The reply: Hab retires.

We hope the next Habsburg ruler is a more trustworthy ally.

Ottoman Empire 1537-1551

In 1537 Ottoman situation looked good, economy was strong and Ottoman armies were among the strongest in the world. Sultan was worried about the strength of the french, and when the news arrived that there was war preparations planned against them, Sultan decided to offer help. Such a warmongering nation could not be allowed to dominate european politics. They could become a real threath to us.

Few years the war raged on, and French armies were handling them quite well, Archduke of Austria asked for direct intervention from Ottomans, and the Sultan agreed to send help. Initial wave consisted of almost 200k men. Deep into the france they advanced, until the french mustered a large cavalry army. After that small setback, the Ottoman armies were victorious again, and victory was achieved, and France humbled a little bit.

But Ottoman economy wasnt doing well, even with her armies deep in Africa, spreading islam and the Empire, the Ottoman Economy was performing poorly. Frustrated with the economical stagnation, the Sultan decided to hang all his economical advisors, and hire new ones. Also, war, something that has always fixed so many things, was started again, this time against Morocco and Songhai.

A new ruler

250px-Flag_of_the_Habsburg_Monarchy.svg.png

After the previous ruler had been deposed due to insanity a new ruler had been put on the throne. The actions he was to take were to bring Austria closer to the Ottomans. After recieving an emissary from the Ottoman Empire a treaty was negotiated with them about the Balcans. Now the time had come to Brandenburg. After sending a few emissaries to them we reached a deal which will be made official later. Our cousins in Spain sent us some money which was well needed and France agreed to a NAP.

With the borders secure at all fronts Austria began to save up some money for a Fine Arts Academy in Wien and the promotion of several legal counsils around the empire. This took a couple of years and English money helped us achieve our goal quicker. For the money then sent us they recieved the rights to monopolise the Center of Trade in Genoa.

After improving the infrastructure and promoting artists in Wien the new ruler turned his eyes towards Venice, a nice little country with a nice little Center of Trade. After a few years of failed attempts to get out of the alliance with them we succeeded thanks to the Ottomans. A few months later Austrian armies attacked on all fronts, not all were successful though. After a few months Friuli had been occupied and now only Venice was left. There was but one problem to overcome, the Venetial fleet. After building up the navy to three times the Venetian navys size the Royal Austrian Fleet was finally able to force them back in to the port of Venice and the road to their capital laid open. Troops were called in from Italy to commence a siege there. Franz Josef returned to Budapest to look over the conversion of the muslims there.

Spain

Spain would like to start this off with a few apologies.

First to the Russians whom we've accused of spying on us in a previous post. They assured us they were not and we just felt silly making that assumption with no proof. This happened last session, so we saved their daughter and renewed the vows.

Second we recieved a posthumus letter from the late Habsburg ruler. Seems our oriental messenger "Hamachi" couldn't communcate with him. Again our assumptions were wrong and he will be remembered as an honorable ally.

Spain was wary with the new Habsburg ruler who just so happened to be a former French regent. Then, easing our minds, he made a brilliant diplomatic move and asked.. "france can me you and spain sign a nap for this session while I get adjusted?" The French accepted! and there was much rejoicing.

Soon our trade level increased and combined with new wheat colonies our gold inflation finally fell to zero percent. The money started pouring in amid much more rejoicing. We began fortifying our colonial holdings and increasing our standing armys' size. Missionaries were sent, Cuzco converted on its own, and the navy too was greatly expanded.

Every province we colonized included natives. One native band attacked our Conquistador just before the ninth colonist arrived halving their population down to 800 :) Other than that, and the price of one island staying at 60 for the duration when it usually gets to twenty, and a few failed attempts we had great luck colonizing.

A few stab events and a few -gold events were overcome easily.

Spain now feels like a power to be reckoned with. Not some house of cards that can easily collapse the way we've felt for far too long.

The new Habsburg regent, Maximilian II sends his regards to the Spanish monarch. He accepts the apology and wishes for further strengthened bands between the two brother nations. The messenger also carried a special crown made from Austrian gold, mined in Steiermark as a sign of friendship and goodwill.

May God be with you.

Russia: To the East I Say!!!

Russia having been left on autopilot for 3/4ths of the session was making promising strides in that most important of fields, military technology. Having finally reached a fire phase Russia was now at LT 12, and much rejoicing was forthcoming.

Unfortunately we were still poor and still close to being 2 CRTs down on Austria. Still trade now brings in as much income as production does for which we are happy.

Anyway it was decided with our nice land tech we should go beat up someone weaker than us, Vijanyer seemed like a nice target, even more so after the Russian colony of Bombay was set up and provided a good base for the invasion. General Vorontski and 20,000 infantrymen and 15,000 horse took the northern Vijanese provinces by storm within months, before proceeding onwards through some irrelevant states who'd wisely decided to grant MA. Unfortunately the totally inedible Indian food left General Vorontski's army moral at about 1/3 of where it should be.

Still the great man proved his worth again by beating apart the only enemy field army, sending their 20,000 men running like startled goats and storming the city of Calicut for good measure. This was happily enough to force the Vijanyese Sultan/Poobah to accept the Czar's generous offer of Calicut and its lovely centre of trade.

Russia for the win!!!

deflation for AAR and ontime if possible.
