Here's the next update,Theodoros,Russia and Nogai (later also Tibet) take on the GH and their Khazak and Uzbek (and later Chagatai) allies. And Ioannes' rebellion continues, taking a city but losing a decisive battle...
Kherson,Prince Hector of Theodoros:
Hector observed his trebuchets lobbing heavy boulders at the walls of Kherson,Crimea. His siege had lasted last month;altough he was well aware that the Khazak Horde and Uzbek Khanate had joined the Golden Horde's side in the war,he was also well aware that the Nogai Khanate had been fighting furiously, and had already incapicitated the Uzbeks, taking their ability to fight and signing a favorable peace treaty with them, gaining Kara Kum,Karabogaz,Khiva and Turkmenistan.
The Khazaks, however, was a different story. The KH attacked constantly and struck like lightning against the Nogaian defenses, forcing Khan Nur ad-Din of Nogai to wage a purely defensive war against the swift and hard-hitting Khazaks. He could not send any men across the Khazak-Nogaian border,as then the Khazak Khan,Hoggar I,could easily devasate his undefended land.An attack at Karsak, capital of the Khazaks, resulted in a humiliating defeat for Nogai.
Meanwhile,Russia had used numerical advantages so far to a reasonably good effect against the Golden Horde, altough the Russians also had a marginal technological advantage over the Mongols.Having captured Iaroslav,Samara and Bogutjar so far,Russia was having a great success in defeating the Mongols, even though they had lost Vladimir.
Hector was also doing finely.Kherson was due to surrender in an estimated three months, and the Golde Horde's Golden Age obviously seemed to have hit a dead end here.News of the long and bloody Fall of Astrakhan, where the city's vastly outnumbered garrison fought for 11 hours in a brave last stand before they were totally wiped out by a Nogaio-Russian force, confirmed this.If there was one thing the Golden Horde still had from its Golden Age,it was the Mongols' indescribable bravery and their preference of death before dishonor.
However, bad news came when it appears that the Chagatai Khanate had joined the evil Mongols. To try and counter this,Hector got the mountain-dwelling (apparently) snow-loving Tibetans (I used the columbus cheat and traded maps with Theo, hehe

),who began to fight hard against the CH,their archnemesis. The Chagataians were not used to mountain warfare and the cold winters of Tibet any more, and soon lost the entire war,in both the Russian and Tibetan theatres of warfare.
The Khazaks also lost one decisive battle that opened up their lands to Nogaian invasion;the Bttle of Ust Urt.In this battle,50,000 Khazaks fought to the bitter end against around 30,000 Nogaians.Altough the Khazaks were initially winning, anoher Nogaian army of 30,000 arrived to reinforce the firs one.The Khazak force fought hard, but officialy outnumbered, losing was inevitable.Khan Hoggar was killed while fighting. The Khazak force--1/3rds of the combined Khazakian Army--was completely wiped out after a two-day battle.
With the decisive Nogaian victory at Ust Urt,Khan Nur ad-Din of Nogai invaded Khazak territory and, with the Khazak armies quickly disintegrating and Hoggar II of the Khazaks still only 2 years old (and thus various Khazak nobles fought hard for the Regency),the Nogaians confronted little organized opposition, with the two only actual battles being the Battle of Alga and the Siege of Karsak, both of which were Nogaian victories.Alga was ceded to Nogai in the peace treaty, and the Khazaks became subjects of Nogai (force-vassalization).
The Chagatai Khanate began to make more of a comeback with the diplomatic annexation of Uzbek. They stormed the exhausted Nogai which, altough having nearly doubled in size as gains from the wars against the Uzbeks and the Khazaks, were exhausted.Only Russian intervention stopped the Chagataians from sacking Emba.Nogai ended up having to pay a handsome sum of money and cede Khiva to the Chagataians in exchange for peace.
Unfortunately, the Chagaitian Khan attacked Tibet again, breaking their truce and sparking rebellions all over the Khanate.Luckily, this time only money (180d) was ceded to Tibet;previously, the CK had to surrender all lands east of their capital to the Dalai Lama of the Tibetans.
In December,Kherson finally fell, and the city surrendered.Hector, pleased with this, move to attack Lugansk and Donetsk by (apparently) splitting his force in two.He would lead the attack on Donetsk, while Argyrus,an illegitimate son of his, would strike at Lugansk, despite the bitter Russian winter.News of the surrender of Ufa to Russia were welcome news, and the GH was also now on the verge of collapse.
Beograd and Kosovo,Ioannes VIII and Constantine XI:
Ioannes was clearly pleased with the results of the Siege of Beograd. The city had been seized from Loyalist hands, and Ioannes had established a state known as the Republic of Dobrudja, centered around Silistra. It was not a Republic at all,but was really an oligarchy, with Ioannes (the Head Consul and the Head of State) having little actual power (altough he hardly realizes this). The Senate held most of the governmental power, particualrly the Congress branch of the Senate.
He had recently taken Beograd, but serious news soon arrived;Constantine XI and Diana Palaelogus were attacking Kosovo.Altough Ioannes was skeptical that his technical daughter-in-law became an Eastern Jeanne d'Arc,he was definitely surprised to see her really leading the left wing,in full armor and armed, when he met Constantine's forces near Kosovo the next week.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Constantine sighed.
'When,oh mighty Pantokrator in Heaven, when did bringing the Empress to fight ever a good idea?'he thought.Diana had persuaded him to let her lead the left wing in battle. She was pleased when he agreed after a week of talking, and now he was clearly worried about her survival.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The battle started out smoothly for Ioannes. He had encircled the Loyalist right wing, thinking Diana to be more of a nuisance than a threat. He inflicted heavy casualties on the right wing, led by a converted Turkoman from the Kara Koyunlu federation named Avichai;Avichai and his guards fought hard, and he was severely wounded while trying to rally the wing before an Constantine sent out two detachments of infantry to relieve the broken wing.
The attack succeded, and the injured Avichai was evacuated from the battle, along with his guards, many of whom were either dead or grieviously injured. However, the detachments were quickly annihalated by a surprise attack from the rear as soon as the Orthodox Black Turkoman had left the field.Ioannes then turned against Constantine's blob of troops.
Constantine's body of men held out for a long time, but eventually they suffered very high casualties, and exhaustion, thirst and hunger took its toll on the men.Constantine himself was badly wounded when a soldier hit him with an axe;however, when Diana, bored of watching the battle, charged at Ioannes' rear.
The attack caught Ioannes' troops by surprise, and the Dobrudjan troops were sent into chaos and confusion. It was at this time that Constantine took his chance to finish Ioannes' army off,and he and his remaining men charged at the Dobrudjans, inflicting heavy casualties.Ioannes was mortally wounded by a javelin thrown by Diana, and died soon after, while the battlefield blazed around him.
Kosovo quickly fell after this, and Silistra was next.Shortly after massacring Kosovo's population of Ioannes' sympathizers, called Ioannians, the city of Silistra was submitted to a long and bloody fall by Diana, while Constantine left for Constantinople to recover from his wounds. He was clealy proud of Diana's deed at Kosovo, more than Silistra.
With the fall of Silistra,Ioannes' short-lived Republic was brought to a grisly end.Silistra and Kosovo were brought back into the Empire, and Silistra was burnt down and its inhabitants slaughtered in droves to show Constantine's hatred for Ioannes and the Ioannians.
The Byzantine Civil War was finally over, and the Loyalists triumphed (yes,I know,it's kinda short isn't it?).
