Can't trust the Burgundians. We know what happened when they got a sniff of power last time.

Duke of Wellington:Yeah,in a way. They moved their capital back to Dijon and have forged a considerable colonial empire, concentrated in North America.

stnylan:Very true, they almost sparked WW1 there.Hopefully this time they can use their Great Power status (just saying) in a better way than European domination.

OK,here's the next update,I lose money for Jeanne, peace is signed after I occupy Sweden and Austro-Hungary is formed.

Kobehavn,Christian III and Richard III:

"OK,so I'm supposed to pay money for my wife? How much are we talking about here?"Richard grumbled to Christian "Chris" III,King of Denmark (quite obvious there)."Hm...300,000 pieces of solid real gold ought to do it,".Richard gaped in horror and said,"Is this some kind of a sick joke? There is no way 300,000 pieces of gold will go to you that easily. You'll have to pry them out of my cold, dead, decaying hands first!".

"It's that or Jeanne dies at the stake, you moron,"Chris said evilly."Fine, but if she's dead or harmed in any way when I get her back I will send a group of Swiss mercenaries after your head,"Richard spat in anger.Altough he would want to strangle Chris, there was a platoon of armed men outside the room and they could easily kill him.

Three years later,Stockholm,Romulus A. IV and Gustav Vasa:

"Alright,we came here to propose peace,"Romulus Augustus IV said to King Gustav Vasa of Sweden."You must pay me 150,000 pieces of gold in indemnities. You must also cede the provinces of Osterbotten and Lappland to England, and eveything else goes to me,save for Abo which shall go to the Austrians,".

"Fine,I accept,"Gustav Vasa said bitterly.

Vienna,Lajos II and Ferdinand of Austria:

"OK,so you came here to propose a union? What kind of?"Lajos asked Ferdinand."Do you notice the 'dual monarchy' system of the Roman Empire, with two monarchs sharing equal powers and both having the right to veto the other's motions? This is how I plan to bring my Archduchy together with your Kingdom,"he answered.

"Alright,I guess that would work fine,as long as I remain with a lot of power in my hands.I'm not sure the Magyars will take this well,though..."Lajos said nervously."Do not worry, you can rule your people from Budapest and I will leave your country's culture, treasury and people untouched. That is,as long as you are willing to merge your military with mine and accept the Counter-Reformist faith,"Ferdinand continued.

"Alright, fine, but only because you are such a good friend of mine,"Lajos answered."Good.So now,I'll place my capital at Vienna and you can unofficialy rule from Budapest."Ferdinand said cheerfully. The two men shook hands and both departed. The Austro-Hungarian Empire was born.

Yes,the Austro-Hungarian Empire is the sole stable power in Europe at +1 stab during a very turbulent time in my fictional Europe that I will call "Age of Instability", :D :p .Russia is suffering from an early Russian Civil War,Poland-Lithuania is cracking under pressure and wars with Austro-Hungary and a German Confederation,Denmark annexed Sweden,I'm suffering from low stab and a loan that's been extended four times,Spain lost Barcelona to Burgundy and the RE is having a hard time acting as the judge of Europe, unable to prevent Austro-Hungary from swelling to almost twice its original size after the Polish-A.H Wars.

Here's the next update,Austro-Hungary expands while Richard and Jeanne abdicate, leaving Harold III to rule the throne.

Krakow,Polish man:

"Hey George, what's that?"Posioknowski shouted over to George,a good friend of his as he was patrolling."I don't know yet,Posioknowski,but...sounds like horses neighing and...oh my God,it's an Austro-Hungarian army!Run,run for your life,Posioknowski!"George shouted in fear, dashing from his lookout tower.Posioknowski froze in fear. The K.u.K state of Austria-Hungary had become the new terror in the Balkans, easily crushing a Magyar revolt in Temesvar.

Ferdinand of Austria heavily decentralized the country into many autonomous 'magnatates',areas ruled by the wealthy and powerful magnates who were essentially military and civil viceroys with almost de facto independence and so-called 6000-volunteer 'magnatate militia' if it weren't for the thing called 'magnatate taxes' and a heavy reliance on state funding and military support. This helped prevent the revolts,as most of the magnates were Magyars and the magnatate militias, uniformed infantry volunteers armed with a musket and revolver led by a militia general, helped keep law and order,as well as prevent minor raids, without the need of central involvement.

The Austro-Hungarian army, numbering 15,000 men in all, stormed the city's walls with ease.Poland-Lithuania had experienced a brief Golden Age;however, now Austro-Hungary achieved numerical, technological and logistical superiority over them, and also had gotten rid of feudalism, altough serfdom was still widely practiced and legal. The outdated Polish defences, however, still could hold off Austro-Hungarian armies for relatively long periods of time.

The defences of Krakow,a 4-mile long line of brick walls,10-foot deep moats filled with sea water from the Baltic and Black Seas, and scattered watch towers armed with stationary 'tripod'-mounted muskets and howitzers, held for a long time against Austria-Hungary.The Poles and Lithuanians easily held off the Austrians and Magyars with the reasonably strong defences, despite that they have been sitting there for 3 centuries.

However, eventually the Austro-Hungarians encircled the city's walls, cutting off any possible supply line--not that there was ever really one,as there were vast quantities of food, clean water and ammunition inside the city. But soon the city's suplplies began to run low,and with the Austro-Hungarian blockade and bad logistics, there was no way to send fresh food, clean water and more ammuntion for the constant battles to Krakow.

Eventually, the city was starved into surrendering.Yet,the city's entire population was spared...

Winchester,Richard,Jeanne and Harold III:

"I abdicate voluntarily from the throne,"Richard said quietly."I am in my mid-fifties,and have been wounded too much,"he continued."I can't fight on.I retire and I shall leave the crown on my hopefully-able son's head,"he finished. The Lord Chancellor and the Witengamot nodded to this.

"I retire too,I am in my late forties and have lost my youth, and sustained heavy wounds while in captivity,"Jeanne said to the Lord Chancellor."I almost lost a limb in prison,I cannot risk my life anymore...I am too old."she continued nervously, hoping that Richard wouldn't get mad at her abdication,as he clearly wanted her to have the throne.

"So does this mean...I have the throne?"Harold III eagerly asked."Yes son,it does. Now do us a favor and send us to Inverness for a long and happy retirement,"Richard said quietly, not knowing if Harold III is a worthy succesor.

At his death at the age of 84,Richard was given the epithet 'the Merciless' "for he never showed mercy to a defeated foe," Harold claimed.Jeanne died at the age of 88,and was given the epithet 'the Fearless' "for being the one Queen who risked her life at the face of death for the glory of England," he said.

OK,thanks, sorry if that update was a bit crappy,I was really tired last night.Hopefully today I can write a longer and better update.A real WWI fires in this update, sparking both continental and colonial warfare.Hopefully this'll be long :D

Berlin,Kaiser Rudolf:

"Gentlemen,I have proposed a plan to unite all German peoples across Europe under our flag.We have been divided up into many tiny states, petty kingdoms and loose confederacies for too long...far too long.Altough the Kaisers before me have never thought of this 'ludicrous','crazy',and 'absolutely mad' idea,I will prove the common populace wrong by carryiong out this plan!"Rudolf roared.

"Yes,but...who are our targets? We have a majority of the German minor states either already peacefully annexed by us or remaining as petty vassal states,"a man said quietly."We must overwhelm the Austro-Hungarian Empire, alternatively known as the K.u.K monarchy,as the last step for German unification. They have a largely German population and considerable minorities of Croats,Serbs,Solvenes and Magyars. The last three can be put to slavery when we're through with the Austro-Hungarians."Rudolf answered him.

"Alright then...but Austria-Hungary is allied with England,Russia and Burgundy! It seems almost suicidal to attack them.Worse yet, they have considerably swelled in size their size with the defeat of Poland-Lithuania and the Treaty of Gniezno, which gave Austria-Hungary the formerly-Polish held provinces of Krakow,Wielkopolska,Galizien,Podolia and Podlasia to the K.u.K monarchy!"another man said loudly.

"It does not matter. We have the Spanish,a Great Power,as valuable allies and a bitter Poland-Lithuania standing beside us.I assume the Polish-Lithuanians would want to seek revenge on Austria-Hungary?England and Spain are mortal enemies, and Spain will also most likely want to snatch the Burgundian Low Countries for themselves.Seeing as they like to keep neutral,I doubt the Romans dare interfere in this."Rudolf answered him sharply.

"Excellent plans milord,so we have Great Powers on our side and Austria-Hungary has their Great Power allies. How will we overwhelm the Moscow Alliance,as we could call them for the alliance was signed in Moscow, though sir?"another man piped up."Well,Russia is frighteningly enormous, but is backward and feudal. They will heavily depend on numerical and geographical superiority,so we must defeat them with technology and logistical superiority.England will be a painful thorn, but I trust Spain with its task of eliminating England.Same goes for Burgundy.Austria-Hungary is our prime target, they must be terminated for German unification."Rudolf said confidently.

"Furthermore, should the Romans intervene on the behalf on the Moscow Alliance I have an ace up my sleeve;the Mamluks. They and Rome are the bitterest of foes, and will most likely distract the Romans for a short period of time, which should be all we need. Our relations are so good that they cannot refuse an invitation to our military alliance."he continued confidently."If the Romans do decide to join me,of course...Austria-Hungary and the Moscow Alliance will not stand a chance."he beamed.

"Very well,I'll send the messenger with the Declaration of War,"the last man said.

Brest-Litovsk,Russian soldier:

Diary of Feodor Kosinikiev,Russian soldier:

Dear diary,

We have had a really hard time resisting the Germano-Polo-Lithuanian onslaught. The Tsar was right;we absolutely need numerical superiority for victory. We also have geographical superiority, knowing when to stop--that is,when winter strikes--and then just lay back and relax, watching the enemy slip on ice,dig through snow and try not to freeze solid. When spring came,we strike like lightning, hopefully intercepting the enemy.

We also rely on our Western defences. They may be medieval, made up of a moat, some high stone walls and wooden watch towers, but we've got the power of mortars and falconets behind them.Men with pots of boiling hot oil are always eager to drop it on the head of a German,Pole or Lithuanian.

Gunshot wounds really hurt.Last night I got hit by a musket ball from a German raider when a raiding party was cornered and fought desparately to the bitter end,as there was no escape. The shot nearly blew off my left arm!I returned the pain by bayoneting the man to death and then blowing his head off with a musket shot.

Our armies are quite sluggish.Last week,Mogilev fell to the Poles while the army sent there wasn't even halfway there. We have men that are busy besieging the city, while Colonel Piotr has been constantly insisting that we stay right here,in the Volyn province,"in case of enemy attack".This is really boring.I wish I were at the siege of Warsaw or have been sent to the Dutch Front,an imaginary line running through the Burgundian cities of Antwerp,Arras and Brussels, where some of the most intense fighting is.

So long diary,I think I just heard Colonel Piotr change his mind and decided to have us go to lay siege to the city of Riga,a German-held city. Finally, some excitement!

Love,
Feodor

Antwerp,Burgundian officer:

Letter of Charles von Koenig,Burgundian colonel, sent to his wife:

Dear beloved wife,

I am at Antwerp,a major trading center and virtual fortress. The evil Spanish are constantly attacking us,especially here in Antwerp,Flanders.Just this morning I almost lost a leg and my friend,Ludwig, lost his life when a Spanish attack happened. There is so much blood in here that it soaks your waists. Our army is reduced from 50,000 something to around 20,000 in just two months.

I can't take this anymore!I should've remained as the son of a wealthy entrepeneur and one of the King's maids instead of volunteering for the Armee le Bourgogne. When I could've lived a happy life in Dijon,I'm instead stuck out here, forced to shoot people who might've been friendly if we weren't on the opposing sides to death, and risking my life every ten seconds! It's not worth it.I sought excitement and now I found too much of it.

Yet,the corn poppies growing in this area give me hope.It shows me that you can fight in the direst of situations and still win. They grow in a field of blood just fine,so it shows me that I still have hope of living an untraumatised life after this heated war, even if I must kill thousands of brave men.Sometime in the future, someone should write a poem to immortalise a battle like this that I am sure to happen in the future. They should name it "In Flanders Fields",too.

I must go now,my army is being moved to Arras to aid the defence of the city, guarded by an Anglo-Russo-Burgundian force of almost 60,000 men in total fighting against some 30,000 Spaniards.Hopefully I'll live tomorrow to write again.

Love,
Charles

Thanks, here goes the next update:Jerusalem enters the war on the Allied (heh heh) side, and more letter/diary-style updates.

Jerusalem,Baldwin XIV:

"There's a big war in Europe, right?A contest of strength between the superpowers?"Baldwin XIV,Grand Master of the newly-established Order of the Knights of Jerusalem, said.Baldwin's state had been formed by the Mamluks, who, being very intolerant to Christianity since the end of the 15th century, could not handle the outbursts of violence and rioting in the newly-Catholic Jerusalem, who expelled its Muslims.Believing that Catholic monarchs could better control the unruly Christians, the Mamluk nobility convinced the Sultan to create a small and relatively harmless vassal state;thus Jerusalem is born.

Baldwin,an ambitious and brave 'hotshot' leader, immediately broke the oath of vassalage he had sworn to the Mamluks and entered war on the Allies' side.

Baldwin planned to take out Germany, the European pariah.Within a few years of preparation, and some expansion in Mamluk territory (the seizure of Sinai,Medina,Arabia and Jordan--as Acre was Orthodox and in Roman hands),Baldwin attacked.

Rhodes,knight from Order of St.John:

Diary of David Laspine,an Anglo-Burgundian born Knight from the Order of St.John, which joined the Allies on December 11,1573:

Dear diary,

Today,a Chivalric army have laid siege to Malta,a Spanish-held Medditeranean powerbase.I have been ordered to stay harbored in Rhodes, and Fort St.Elmo, our newest fort yet--meant to also be a fortified merchant's city later--has recently been finished.Fort St.Angelo is the one fort most susceptible to Central Power (again, hehe) attack, but it is also the most heavily fortified one.

We have converted to Chalcedonian Christianity recently in hopes of the new faith giving us the strength to fight off this new threat. To show their thanks, the Romans apparently shipped hundreds of illuminated manuscripts and countless bright, colorful icons to us.The Jerusalmeties also have done the same, but have recieved more gifts than us...however,it's not the time to feel envy.

So far,the war has been going bad. With all but Tartessos (Murcia) owned by Spain on the Iberian peninsula--the port city and CoT of Tartessos remains in Roman hands and is a Second Constantinople, being filled with the greatest and most colorful of icons, thousands of illuminated manuscripts and cathedrals so high that they tear through the heavens,as well as a large garrison and strong walls--is the one Roman foothold in Iberia.Thankfully the Shipyard of Tartessos, able to muster a fleet larger than the legendary Spanish Amada,is not in Spanish hands.

As of now,I am still stationed in Rhodes. However, there have been plans to move my army to get into the Dutch Front.I don't want to go there,though--it is where Spanish forces are fully focused, and milions of men die there every day. They say that, should the Dutch Front fall, the fate of the Burgundian Netherlands is horrid.

I even volunteered to go out to the Russian Front, where Polish-Lithuanian forces fought Russian ones.Maybe even the German Front, where Austria-Hungary and Germany clash, but not the extremely bloody and terribly violent Dutch Front.

Sincerely,
David

Riga,Teutonic Knight:

The diary of Teutonic Knight Ludwig:

Dear diary,

I am busy besieging the city of Riga.We have annexed the Livonian Order long ago,and added their lands--including the city of Riga--to our realms. We accepted Chalcedonian Christianity and expelled the heretical Albert of Brandenburg when he took up the teachings of Martin Luther. And now,we,in fear of being attacked by the Germans, joined the Moscow Alliance for protection.

Riga fell a few days ago.Just as the German forces left the city, though,we attacked and caught the German rear by surprise, quickly overrunning and routing them.We may only possess falconets and mortars for the siege, but they'll have to do.

Hopefully, this war will soon be over.I really want this war to end soon,I can't see any more innocent brothers, pressed into military service and threatened with death, fall before my eyes again in such large quantities.

Love,
Ludwig

Duke of Wellington:Thanks :) ,I haven't had time for updates since my cousin John drowned to his death sometime last month :( :( :( I'm going to have the Orders and Cyprus play a greater role in the war later,as Russia will eventually withdraw (favorable peace,at least for them).

stnylan:Thanks too :)

Here's the next update, the Germans enter Roman soil, and Frundsberg unfortunately (for Germany) dies.

Aguntum,Frundsberg's diary:

Diary of Georg von Frundsberg,German commander:

We are now laying siege to the Roman city of Aguntum.Make no mistake that,as a border city,it is extremely difficult to seize;the Romans, great architects and strategists, built its walls under the supervision of Consul Claudius Salinator,an iron-willed and brave warrior who is also a great strategist and former Imperial Architect, with major funding given to everthing he builds.I cannot pass an oppurtunity to face this man in battle.

I don't expect the Romans to just sit there and watch as I take Aguntum;however, even Consul Tiberius Aemilius, the most hot-tempered and impatient Roman soldier I have ever met, would not dare face my army and suffer another Battle of Cannae.I still expect the Romans to bring up a strong army to fight, though;maybe not a Consular one,but still a large one to fight.

I also cannot attack Rome yet--this kind of attack is suicidal.Salinator will be waiting for me there, and even though I would like to face him in battle and see how well he fares,I refuse to face him and die. Then again, there may not be any other way to take Rome out of the scene. We only began by attacking a merchant convoy of theirs,as our crew were starving, and now they suddenly attack us viciously. If they aren't defeated soon,Germany will be crushed.

Still, the siege is going fine.A Roman army under the command of Ioannes,Count of Pula has recently been defeated and the Count slain. We expect an attack by the 'Roman Dragon',none other than Salinator, soon enough. This will be my chance to humble Rome,an oppurtunity I cannot waste!

Aguntum ten days later,Salinator and Frundsberg:

Frundsberg had been waiting for this for long enough.Just as he was about to snap,Claudius Salinator's Consular Army appeared out of nowhere.Claudius was born out of a Romano-Greek family, and proved to be an aspiring scholar as well as a warrior by heart. He quickly shot up through the Roman military ranks, and both Imperator Romulus V and Basileus Constantine XII promised him a Roman triumph and a place in the Great University of Rome if he could beat Frundsberg, and he would be respected much like Scipio was after Hannibal's defeat at Zama so long ago.

Frundsberg muttered under his breath,"It's time. The battle that decides whether Germany wins or loses everything.I am their Hannibal;this time,I'll make sure Zama doesn't happen again.".He ordered an intense artillery bombardment upon the Roman camp while Salinator was preparing his troops;the Roman Consul swore to God that he would kill Frundsberg for this surprise attack.

Salinator ordered a cavalry charge, while Frundsberg continued his artillery barrage, which dealt heavy casualties on the Roman cavalry.Salinator tried sending up Theodorus,Prefect of Mediolanum and his equites up the hill, where they succeded in tearing a gap in the German lines and dealt heavy casualties on Frundsberg's men before being driven back by the Landskenchts.

However,Salinator was faced with his cavalry almost totally annihalated and the death of the respected Quaestor Ioannes, also the Duke of Liguria, when the man tried to help out Theodorus with his infantry regiment, only to face death when a cannonball blew him in half.He (Salinator) was now faced with two choices;retreat or stay fighting, hoping that someone would reinforce his troops.

He chose the latter, and was rewarded with it.Altough he was grieviously wounded by a musket ball and half of his troops were dead by evening, the army of Paullus Scipio arrived just on time and successfully outflanked the army of Frundsberg. The German force was cornered and almost totally annihalated with Salinator's final and decisive cavalry charge, followed by a cannonade for two hours as the beaten German army returned to camp and tried to counter with cannon fire of their own.

Eventually, the artillery fire stopped and Salinator took a company of troops to enter the German camp with. The camp was wasted,it was in ruins and pieces of bloody bodies were littered everywhere. The stench of burning lead was not easily ignored as he (Salinator) and his men searched the area. They eventually found the corpse of Frundsberg, killed by a cannonball that blew him in half.

Altough Kaiser Rudolf of Germany thought that Frundsberg's death really meant nothing as he was sure that there were other great commanders,he was wrong.Frundsberg was the man who led to German victories at the Southern and Eastern Fronts, now holding all of Western Russia but St.Petersburg and also occupying Moscow. He was the one man who led a stunningly quick campaign against the K.u.K Monarchy and already had half of Hungary occupied,as well as being responsible for the annihalation of a Roman force. His death sent shockwaves through Germany, yet the future of the European War remains unsolved...

Will Rudolf unify all German peoples and defeat the Allied forces?Or will history go as it's supposed to be and the CPs will be crushed? One thing is for sure now,the CPs are losing and Spain has been knocked out of the war, losing many of its colonies (through Russia's treaty that gave me Florida and all Eastern South American colonies owned by Spain). It looks grim for Germany and Poland-Lithuania...

A good battle.

And condolences as well. In my experience you never really 'get over' such things, you slowly grow larger to better encompass them.

Very true stnylan, yet I still like to think that anyway :) Anyway, here's the next update.

Moscow,Michael Romanov and Rudolf of Germany:

"Look, what do you want?Oh right, the peace treaty.Well then...what do you plan to give up?"Michael said greedily. In a few years,he overran German forces in Russia, forced Poland-Lithuania into an unconditional surrender--stripping it of all but Warsaw--and finally seized almost half of Germany. He was definitely winning the war,but thought that it was time for peace.

"Very well,I am willing to give up the provinces of Hinterpommern and Vorpommern,as well as twenty ducats."Rudolf muttered."Not good enough,"Michael said sharply,",those two provinces and military access. That's the only kind of peace treaty I'll accept."."Fine,we'll have it your way,but only so that I'll lose an Eastern Front",Rudolf grumbled.

And thus, the Treaty of Moscow was signed.Despite losing an Eastern Front and not having to worry about the great threat of Russia for now,Rudolf's fortunes still wouldn't change...

Berlin,Claudius Salinator:

Salinator patiently awaited for the attack of the Germans. He had attacked and seized all of Southern Germany in record time, proving his abilities as a commander (stats:5/3/5/1)and also defeating many German armies thrown at him.He had arrived at Berlin and was besieging it,and also expected the aid of Metellus Salinator, the Count of Split and his less-able but still decent brother (Maj.general,stats:4/3/3/1) soon.

However, news son came to him that Metellus would be delayed because of a battle in which his forces were ambushed, yet he still achieved a (pyrrhic) victory over German Maj.General Eugene.Until then, all he (Claudius S.) could rely on was the occasional English and Burgundian armies that made up the bulk of the besieging force,as his own army had largely melted away due to battle casualties, illnesses and fatigue, and desertion.

His hopes of Metellus' reinforcements, however, quickly melted away as news of Metellus being reassigned to aiding the Romanesque Hispanians, now centered around Cordoba, reached him.Looks like Anglo-Saxons and Magyars are the only help Salinator will get...

London,Rudolf:

"Well, finally something fell,"Rudolf grinned.Yesterday he had captured the city of London and sacked it after launching a naval attack. His High Seas Fleet (H.S.F in game) made it to the British Isles with relative ease,as the English Royal Navy was busy combatting the Spanish Armadas sent against them in the New World.

Hopefully, the Spanish--cannon fodder for Rudolf--would last long.He wanted to end English involvement on the continental stage as quickly as possible.

Yeah,I can't agree with you more. And I thought I left my surrounding sea zones under tight control... Oh well, apparently I had London Fleet attack Spanish ships at Mexico.R.Hispania also revolted and gained independence in "Roman sympathizers in Andalusia revolt",an event for Spain that I just had to make :D

Anyway,here's the next update:

Algarve,R.Hispanian:

Letter of Matthias sent to his girlfriend Isabella,Matthias a young Hispanian soldier:

Dear Isabella,

I am busy, along with my friends and the army,in invading Algarve, formerly part of the Lusitanian Kingdom of Portugal that is now, however, part of Spain since its annexation.I did not know that merely being part of the Andalusian Revolution would get me drafted into the Hispanian Army.I just wanted to help, and now I'm helping way too much!

Anyway,we are attacking Algarve,Estramadura and Gibraltar. It would be nice if we could seize Saguntum, but that remains a future possibility. As of now, there are two parts to this war,one good and one bad;one the good side,we could humble a world power. On the bad side,we probably will die trying. And I just can't stand killing Spanish troops,no matter how much of a bitter enemy they are.

Just today,we ambushed a Spanish raiding party and almost annihalated it.I slew many at that time, but one victim of my musket stands out. After I blew off his arm, this particular man fell to the dirt.As I was about to kill him,he had said "Spare my family,"before I plunged my bayonet into his throat.I can't believe that I just killed someone with a family and effectively made a widow and orphans.

Hopefully this war ends soon,I'll turn 18 soon enough and hopefully I do live that long for us to get married.Be safe,Isabella.

Love,
Matthias

Bermuda,English and Spanish commanders:

"Oh no,not this early!"William,Duke of Exeter shouted fearfully."Unfortunately it's very true, the Spanish are coming here with aims of annihalating us."his loyal second-in-command,George--the Earl of London, altough he doesn't know that his city was in ruins--reported."Worse yet, they've hired a mercenary Roman officer,Donatus Scipio (event:A Roman tries to join the Spanish forces). He's not on very good terms with anyone in Spain due to his hot temper, great arrogance and pride, but he's a capable commander indeed (General,stats;4/3/4/1)".

"Uh,well then...we shall wait for them,I guess?"William said nervously. However, before George could respond there were already loud laughter, bloodcurdling screams and noises of musket and cannon fire."Too late sir, they're here."he responded, sharply turning and taking his gun and ammo.George then left the tent, and began firing at the Spanish troops.

"Very well,I guess I'll have to take charge,"William sighed, getting up and putting on his hat and taking his weapons and ammo.He marched out of the camp, got on his horse and rode into the fray, screaming senselessly and firing everything he's got.The whole island of Cuba had fallen under Spanish occupation;Harold III would not be pleased to see Bermuda fall, and William couldn't afford being sacked.

The vicious fighting that ensued defied all words known to man.Despite the 8000-man (5000/2000/10) Bermuda Regiment fighting hard under William's command,he couldn't hold them off forever and eventually the Regiment, panicking, broke and routed.Spanish cannon and a hot pursuit annihalated the force, and William was killed while trying to rally his troops.

Bermuda was soon besieged, and it quickly fell.King Harold III would definitely not be pleased with this, and it ultimately compelled him to move from Winchester to Tehuantepec, where he would meet his fate later...
