We have a respectable reputation.

That's right. Respectable. In a world full of tarnished people and aggressive monsters, we have a respectable reputation.

To hear the Austrians and Muslims tell it, you'd think I was a rampaging monster.

From the start of this session, things were not going my way. My ally Bavaria declared war on Wurzburg, thus making me at war with most of Protestant Germany. I was, to say the least, less than pleased by that.

Following Bavaria dragging me into a war, the Bohemians decided to attempt to destroy me. I really can't blame them, since Saxony and the rest of the Germans were involved in an attempt to kill me.

At this point, my Polish "ally" sold me out. First he accepted a white peace with Hungary, allowing the Hungarians to focus squarely on me. Then he refused to cross the border into Bohemian territory, leaving me on my own against the rampaging armies of the Bohemians and Hungarians. Had Austria been more active in this war, I could have been destroyed. The best part about this is that my Bavarian "ally", who had gotten me into this mess in the first place, refused to honor the alliance and therefore left me to fend for myself.

I spent the next year in a panic. Hungarians kept breaking my sieges in Bohemia. It was an altogether unpleasant experience. Eventually, I managed to secure a white peace from Austria (who then kept threatening me not to win the war against the aggressive Bohemians!) and managed to pay 75d for peace with Hungary. Once this was accomplished, it was time to focus on Bohemia. (Afternote: I had secured a white peace with the German minors, who then promptly fell in love with me due to an event).

Bohemia on her own is no match for Brandenburg, and so peace was eventually secured with Bohemia surrendering Erz and Silesia.

At this point, Holstein, Bremen, and Pommern were all vassals of the BerlinerReich (DIPLO VASSALS, no less), and so we began focusing on expanding our nation PEACEFULLY. Bremen and Holstein both accepted this idea, but the Pommeranians just don't seem to understand.

At this point, the game gets weird due to crash bugs and my PC acting very odd.

Originally, Poland declared war on Russia. Russia had been impeaching on Lithuania for most of the game (not that I can blame them), and I had been encouraging Poland to leave my alliance and ally with his vassals. Originally, I planned on remaining friendly with Poland-Lithuania, since this seemed like a wise course. However, Poland waited until AFTER Russia had secured peace from Lithuania before declaring war. I decided I had had enough of the strategic incompetence of the Polish monarchs and banned them from my alliance. Seeing an opportunity for some quick gains, I then declared war on a Poland that didn't have much in the way of a chance. My armies steamrolled over western Poland, and victory was in my grasp when...

CTD

When we came back, the autosave had been before Poland declared war on Russia. Now, everyone (including my Polish "ally") knew I was deciding on knifing Poland in the back. The Ottomans allied with Poland and quietly offered to send 50k troops to assist the Poles when the attack came. Sensing that I was now locked into this course (my "relations" with the other humans having taken the hit already), I banned Poland and then...

CTD

When we came back, it was decided that Poland really didn't have a chance even with the Turkish ally. Brandenburg is, after all, an army with a state. Even counting the Turkish 50k in favour of the Poles, the Poles were outnumbered approximately 5 to 1, and Brandenburg had 2 leaders in the field.

Noting this and accepting reality, the Polish player was allowed to move to England (our eastern european GC having moved to a more global campaign now). However, as soon as the game started, my machine froze in place (which I suppose is even WORSE than a CTD).

When we pick up again (likely Saturday evening!), Poland will be partitioned and Brandenburg will be trying to repair the strained relations with the larger German Empire to the south. After all, Brandenburg has no serious problems with Austria, why should they be hostile to each other?

I think the problem is that the Holy Roman Empire is only big enough for one superpower:D

brandenburg has the manpower while austria has the economy. Both desire what each other have, but are not strong enough to take it from the other. That is when the poles and the turks become major players in deciding the fate of central europe.

I've been assuming 9 PM Eastern for Saturday night.

Everyone who has been involved with this, please post your comments and prepare for the game on Saturday.

As a recap:

KrisKannon (as ImfamousIII) : Ottomans

Kyran : Austria

Duuk: Brandenburg

Arrenius: Sweden

Other players have been rotating in as Poland, Russia, etc.

Every Saturday we play with 6 players. We'd like to continue the trend, so anyone who isn't mentioned here and would like to join in, please post a nifty little response here.

Also -- What file do I need to add to my website, and where do the other players need to download it to so that we won't need to spend time loading the game on Saturday?

Well, this game is over.

While I was just starting the war against Poland, Austria decided to attack me without a CB. The fairly lame excuse he gave me was something about how I took Erz even though he told me not to.

1) That was 50 years prior to him declaring war. Even the people in Erz were ok with me owning them now.

2) Erz and Silesia were taken to buffer my capital from the Bohemians, which he agreed to at the time.

In addition, the double alliance of the Ottoman Turks and the Austrians (the only two original Great Powers taken) proved to be insurmountable. Austria slaughtered my 300k army inside of 6 months, occupied half my territory, and refused to offer me peace even though I waited 3 years.

Suffice to say, I lost this one. :)

Helpful hints for future MP AAR people. Restrict the choices to either all minors or all majors. Mixing doesn't work.

Make sure that the Ottomans and Austrians don't ally. That's just unhealthy to all the rest of the world.

Anyway, great play by all, Kyran and Imfamous flattened me fair and square.

Well, we started out and then saw Brandenburg attempting to expand once more. Thinking it was time to put and end of that before something more serious took place i DoW'd Brandenburg strangely with no stab loss and lost a few battles at the begining from bad supply lines which were fixed quickly. The Austrian army made it to Berlin and occupied it when the lag struck full force. I couldn't communicate properly with the enemy and they began to whine from what the Ottoman player tells me but i was going to make a very fair peace of Erz and possibly one German province to the west.

Dude we should keep this going, just because you got your arse kicked doesn't mean its the end of the world :p

just to point out a few things

the game only lasted 51 years....so if brandenburg controlled erz for fifty years he would of had to of taken it in 1493, which i assure you did not happen. He had it for twenty years tops.

Austria and the Ottoman Empire were not in any sort of alliance. We had partitioned Venice, after that the Turkish people saw no need for any more expansion into austrian lands. I could of attacked hungary, but i know those provs are very poor compared to the ones i was taking in the east. I had annexed the lands of the mamelukes and was going towards persia when duuk ended the game. I could of done this while at war with austria, but with a peaceful border i was able to build gold supplies that would fund any future wars with european nations.

The muslims had no care or concerns over european lands. Brandenburg or Austria could have grown to dominate europe and the turks would of sat idly by until one or the other showed aggression. The only nation the turks worried about was Russia, and I played this throughout the scenario, even going as far as attempting to ally with poland in order to stop Russian expansion.
I even made a deal with Russia to give up a province of Russian culture that i owned just to stop them from attacking. Russian is on the weak front of the turks and can strike far into my nation before meating any real resistance, while austria would be forced to strike into the heart of my forts and armies.

I have played game many times and know the extent of austrian power. With my situation i did not fear austria. I probly wouldnt of feared them even if the annexed all the lands of Bohemia and Brandenburg. By then i would of conquered into india and had plent of resources to support any two front war.

If the cause of Brandenburg was so just they would of earned the support of others. They expected the world to side with them just cause they were weaker than their attacker, yet at the same time planned to sweep into poland and take as much land as they saw fit. This hardly gained support in the european community.

also, nations are much more than just major and minor. there are all sorts of degreess of power, and to get everyone on the same level of power is impossible, let alone a rediculus thought.
besides, everyone has different thoughts on who is more powerfull than who.

i could go on but i got to go.

good game to everyone while it lasted

Well I only got to play in the last session of this game but I enjoyed it very much picking up the reins of the Russian Tzars. For the first few years I concentrated on internal affairs.

It was a bleak start for Juice the last Tzar of the Great Green Monster in the North. I had 20% inflation 2 loan due in less than 2 years and a very bad rep. I only had $632 ducats to pay back my loans due early in the next two years so I had to secure my flanks before moving forward.

The first diplomatic move made was to marry of one of my ugly daugters to the King of Sweden, who accepted. Then the King so grateful for the beauty I sent him proposed that we ally which I accepted, this allowed me to quit worrying about that monster that can be Sweden.

After paying off the loans and letting the remainder of the nationalism in the provinces that were taken before my rein, I decided it was time to take my last national province not secured from Lithuainia.

I asked if the King of Sweden was interested, which he said he would like a couple of Polands provinces which was fine with me. I then set the Russian War Machine in motion and took all but 2 of Lit provinces. During this time I noticed that Sweden was not progressing well and that now the Ottos were interested in how far I was going to take this war. I assured my Otto neighbor that I was only interested in Dontesk. By this time Sweden was not interested in taking the war any further so I signed a white peace with Poland insuring that Lith's fate was sealed. I took the province I wanted and then I drained his treasury.

Then the Ottos decided to annex Crimea which held a national province of mine and we agreed that he didn't want it and was going to let it revolt over to its true Lord. Then everything in the west went south and my most interesting stint as the Tsar of Russia was over.

This was my first AAR so I hope you all like it and please don't kill me for the spelling and grammer errors.

Looking forward to playing with this group again it was great fun.
