We have a respectable reputation.
That's right. Respectable. In a world full of tarnished people and aggressive monsters, we have a respectable reputation.
To hear the Austrians and Muslims tell it, you'd think I was a rampaging monster.
From the start of this session, things were not going my way. My ally Bavaria declared war on Wurzburg, thus making me at war with most of Protestant Germany. I was, to say the least, less than pleased by that.
Following Bavaria dragging me into a war, the Bohemians decided to attempt to destroy me. I really can't blame them, since Saxony and the rest of the Germans were involved in an attempt to kill me.
At this point, my Polish "ally" sold me out. First he accepted a white peace with Hungary, allowing the Hungarians to focus squarely on me. Then he refused to cross the border into Bohemian territory, leaving me on my own against the rampaging armies of the Bohemians and Hungarians. Had Austria been more active in this war, I could have been destroyed. The best part about this is that my Bavarian "ally", who had gotten me into this mess in the first place, refused to honor the alliance and therefore left me to fend for myself.
I spent the next year in a panic. Hungarians kept breaking my sieges in Bohemia. It was an altogether unpleasant experience. Eventually, I managed to secure a white peace from Austria (who then kept threatening me not to win the war against the aggressive Bohemians!) and managed to pay 75d for peace with Hungary. Once this was accomplished, it was time to focus on Bohemia. (Afternote: I had secured a white peace with the German minors, who then promptly fell in love with me due to an event).
Bohemia on her own is no match for Brandenburg, and so peace was eventually secured with Bohemia surrendering Erz and Silesia.
At this point, Holstein, Bremen, and Pommern were all vassals of the BerlinerReich (DIPLO VASSALS, no less), and so we began focusing on expanding our nation PEACEFULLY. Bremen and Holstein both accepted this idea, but the Pommeranians just don't seem to understand.
At this point, the game gets weird due to crash bugs and my PC acting very odd.
Originally, Poland declared war on Russia. Russia had been impeaching on Lithuania for most of the game (not that I can blame them), and I had been encouraging Poland to leave my alliance and ally with his vassals. Originally, I planned on remaining friendly with Poland-Lithuania, since this seemed like a wise course. However, Poland waited until AFTER Russia had secured peace from Lithuania before declaring war. I decided I had had enough of the strategic incompetence of the Polish monarchs and banned them from my alliance. Seeing an opportunity for some quick gains, I then declared war on a Poland that didn't have much in the way of a chance. My armies steamrolled over western Poland, and victory was in my grasp when...

When we came back, the autosave had been before Poland declared war on Russia. Now, everyone (including my Polish "ally") knew I was deciding on knifing Poland in the back. The Ottomans allied with Poland and quietly offered to send 50k troops to assist the Poles when the attack came. Sensing that I was now locked into this course (my "relations" with the other humans having taken the hit already), I banned Poland and then...

When we came back, it was decided that Poland really didn't have a chance even with the Turkish ally. Brandenburg is, after all, an army with a state. Even counting the Turkish 50k in favour of the Poles, the Poles were outnumbered approximately 5 to 1, and Brandenburg had 2 leaders in the field.
Noting this and accepting reality, the Polish player was allowed to move to England (our eastern european GC having moved to a more global campaign now). However, as soon as the game started, my machine froze in place (which I suppose is even WORSE than a CTD).
When we pick up again (likely Saturday evening!), Poland will be partitioned and Brandenburg will be trying to repair the strained relations with the larger German Empire to the south. After all, Brandenburg has no serious problems with Austria, why should they be hostile to each other?
