Whew. I must say I do think landing in Norway is a mistake, even if it does cause me some temporary embarrassment. A raid to take out my reactor, sure, but a real invasion attempt? Why bother? It's some of the most difficult terrain and worst weather in the world, it's a very short distance from the main fighting front where I'm just getting to the point of being able to detach lots and lots of units, and there's no industry to speak of. You could take over the whole of Norway and I'd go right on fighting. You'd have been better off forcing the Straits and attacking the Caucasus from the north, or landing on the Baltic coast of Poland. Although, admittedly, resistance would have been a lot faster in both cases.

Edit: Let me do a quick recap for those of you who weren't there. The Siberian front is now stuck like granite after Sid surprised me with the capabilities of stacks of 50 militia; I expect to see it moving sometime after Madrid falls to my panzers, say 1955 or so.

The Caucasus front is likewise stuck, not so much for objective reasons as because both sides forgot about it! I had to put all my attention into the Polish front, and the Comintern were presumably also busy elsewhere. At any rate, by this time both sides have been digging in for three months, winter is coming, and the mountains are still standing. Don't expect movement here.

The Baltic and Balkan fronts have seen exciting things happen! There will be screenies forthcoming, but briefly: The AI fought a lot smarter this time than it did when I wargamed this in SP, and pushed me back beyond Königsberg. Then the panzers got there, in the proverbial nick of time, blew a hole in the Belgian line south of Warsaw, then drove up the Elbe to the coast, pocketing twenty or so Belgian divisions. (Six of which are still holed up on Bornholm, keeping a whole army corps tied up.) Meanwhile the Belgians blew through the unavoidably weakened southern part of the line, drove to the Black Sea outlet of the Danube, and pocketed all the Polish divisions in the Baltic. However, the Poles were able to get supplies across the Black Sea - still an Axis lake - and when I could shift some tanks south, I managed to re-link with the 100 or so divisions in Romania and also to cut off the Belgian spearhead of twenty to thirty divisions, which had by then reached the Crimea.

South America went as expected; there are now no Norwegian divisions fighting there.

Finally, a new front has opened up with the Comintern invasion of Norway! Surprised the hell out of my militia, I assure you. They landed at Mo i Rana, south of Narvik, and destroyed my nuclear reactor in the first few days of fighting. Very embarrassing, to be sure. They currently hold a long strip of coastline, and a nuke destroyed two armies that I rushed north to try to retake Trondhjem. (I retaliated by destroying Madrid.) But with the Belgians now fighting almost on the Rhine and in full collapse, I can rush divisions north and at least hold them; it is no joke to fight in Norway in the winter. And, as I said, it's just not that decisive a front, strategically speaking, as long as I hold the North German plain.

Ok, so screenies! We start with the Baltic front, early June. I've tried an attack with the Polish troops alone, and I'm not getting anywhere, but the Belgians can't shift me very much, either. It's worth pointing out that throughout the campaign, the Polish AI kept taking field marshals off my carefully constructed 12-strong stacks and sending them to command single mil-art divisions in Siberia! I kid you not, I saw this happen! So those 80 divisions are nowhere near as strong as they ought to be, simply for lack of good commanders.

BalticJun03.jpg

Three weeks later. I've chopped off a Belgian advance, but what you're not seeing is the scary moment when they held Lublin and cut off my advance! Now, wouldn't that have been a disaster. Fortunately I was able to retake Lublin from the east, but it was a tense ten days.

BalticJun25.jpg

Another month. As you can see from where the tide of battle has left the Belgians, they made quite the push in this period; at one point they were threatening Wilno! Happily, the Yngling panzers are here now. Torun has been taken and retaken several times, creating and uncreating the pocket around Warsaw; I think it's due to have still another iteration before I manage to hang on to it for good and wipe out those fifteen divisions.

BalticJuly27.jpg

Which leads us to the situation at the end of August. And it's over. The only thing limiting the speed of my advance now is how fast my infantry can march. You'll observe Lodz about to get pocketed here; later on Danzig suffers the same fate, and then I blow right across the Oder. By this time the Belgians are out of panzers, those all went into the spearheads.

BalticAug30.jpg

Which allows me to link up with my counterattack out of Denmark! Committing all those troops to the attack left the Belgians without enough forces to hold against the panzers bursting out of Fyn and back onto the mainland. Three divisions have just disappeared from Hamburg. Note that we're back on the 2nd of August, here, so this attack is developing simultaneously with the battles for Torun. I didn't really have the forces to go very much further than this, the perimeter just gets too thin, but the linkup occurs in Berlin, incidentally trapping five divisions or so in Rostock. You'll note, however, the Chinese troops occupying Århus; an ominous sign of things to come, even if these ones never got any further. I think Sid just wanted the airbase in Aalborg.

So much for the north; now let's look at the Balkans. Things were pretty quiet there during the summer, but as my attack along the Baltic coastline developed, troops from the Zamosce area tended to get sucked into the victorious advance, eventually creating a weakness the the Belgians could exploit. Also, at this time Poland was played by a sub, and we had agreed that he should take care of the southern front. Considering this situation, I do wonder if maybe I should have asked for him to play Belgium, instead:

BalkanSept08.jpg

Naturally, as soon as I became aware of this, I began pushing at the base of that salient with whatever tanks I could divert from my westwards march. To begin with that wasn't much, though, and by late September the Belgian vanguard stood on the Don:

BalkanSept25.jpg

Fortunately, by this time there was a supply line over the Black Sea, so the pocketed troops could at least fight. A week or so later, the tanks were beginning to have an effect; also, I suspect that by this time the Belgian AI was pulling back whatever it could to shore up its defenses in Germany. At any rate, a strong southward push began:

BalkanOct08.jpg

And ended, after much frustration, in retaking Stryj, relinking Romania to Poland proper, and cutting off twenty to thirty Belgian divisions from resupply. Fighting for Stryj was really nasty, though; I attacked it six or seven times before finally getting around a flank (some tanks into Zamosce - three times before they managed to hold it) and being able to take it.

BalkanOct17.jpg

Let's go back to the Baltic, where my triumphant advance continues:

BalticSept24.jpg

Hah. Let's see them stop that little lot.

I think I mentioned my great respect for the fighting qualities of the Kazakhs; here, for example, they are cut off from supply, reinforcement, and hope, but still fighting on bravely. I salute the Cossack nation!

KazTroops.jpg

I had, of course, a plan of attack for the Siberian front. Let's just say it didn't work.

ChinaPlan.jpg

And lastly, the new, Norwegian front!

NorwayOct26.jpg

It does seem to me that the Comintern is being a little deliberate, a little cautious, here, where a whirlwind, all-out commitment might have brought them to the Baltic by now. Still, whatever it is they've got defending Trondhjem, it's hell on wheels. Infantry assault, panzer assault, combined arms assault, they shrug them all off alike. The nuke that torched 14 divisions and Røros have thrown me back on to a pure defensive for now, though. Still, we are Ynglings! Winter is coming, and we have the mountains at our back.

Well, actually, the Ynglinga Hird doesn't exactly have a presence in Norway anymore, except for some radioactive dust; what you're fighting is militia, second-line troops, and fifteen-year-olds with .32 caliber rifles. And they're not running, they're conducting a fighting retreat, which is an entirely different matter.

And, by the way, speaking of propaganda: I'd get some better translators if I were you. :D

Against the power projection abilities of the mighty Universal People's Republic your volkstrum shall be swept away, for every month you fight on the final peace treaty shall be that much harsher!

I'm on my knees thankful that I invested so much effort into Aircraft Carrier battle groups, I suspect that my navy while porbably not as large as Great Britains is nonetheless far more versatile allowing me to land and maintain beachheads anywhere I choose.

If also Gollevainen has indeed trampled upon and destroyed your nuclear reactor (although I am unsure of this) then we can rejoice as any significant concentration of Norweigian troops shall bite the dust.

From an economic stand point the wars conclusion seems enevitable, Norway has 320 IC, Poland has 11... but 300 base IC so probly has 400-500 IC with resources.

So that Puts the Hird Empire at a grand total of 720 IC.

The Universal People's Republic and its liberated territories cosnsits of an industrial capacity of 510 IC, although most of this consists of light industry (textiles, tractor factories, small arms, light shipping, automobile plants, machine shops, machine tool plants, fabrication plants etc) it is still impressive.

The Spanish "Empire" (although by now I am sure its more of a federated collection of quasi socialist states) is 314 IC.

Kazakstan has 4 IC, although 45 base so probably 50 ic.

India has 128 IC.

The Allies have a composition of England 380 IC, Belgium 660 IC, and Italy 108 IC.

Axis: 720
Communist International Liberation Army: 1002 IC
The Allies have 1148 IC.

Since the Axis is at war with both of the other 2 Blocs it s facing a grand total of 2150 IC.

So the longer this war goes the more the Unified front can convert their economies to war purposes (although by now i think everyones economies is geared for war), the more time everyone has to roll out additional munitions, tanks, vehicals, ships, aircraft, and tin cans.

Norway cannot by now build aircraft and ships and tanks and small arms, it by now is not only scrapping the barrel for troops to plug in the holes in the line but also desperately conscripting unsuitable but nonetheless brave population demographics inorder to from new formations to throw at the Chinese and Spanish amphibious and then later standard military forces.

This at the same time that the Hird is trying desperately at this point to delay (albeit sorta successfully considering the horrible weather and permafrost in siberia) the seemingly unending waves of Chinese lightely trained but highly motivated conscripts marching with a Mosin-nagant in one hand, their back on their back and a pair of winter sandals (and if theyre lucky a clip of ammo in their pocket).

Some 3 million Chinese troops are mobilized in the Greater Siberian Economic Zone versus some 200,000 Norwegians.

In fact now that I mention numbers lets look at them.

China: Nine and a half million men and women in the military, despite the half dozen wars China has been in since none of them were fought on Chinese soil since the 1908 there was no affect on China's manpower base, with over 500,000,000 people there's easily 120,000,000 combat aged males and females.
Spain: Due to the crushing defeat at the hands of Belgium Spain only has a modest but well equiped and politically pure army of 720,000 men, its experiance in peripheral fighting however and its expert military officer corps gives them however a dstinct quality when fighting in the extra continental theatres such as Brazil or the Middle east, or as recently in large scale amphibious actions.
India: Due to its young age as an independent nation within the Comintern it has a modest army of ruthless Gurhka's of 240,000 men, so far have fought well in the plains of Kazakstan and the mountains of northern Persia.
Kazakstan: Ruthlessly determined to remain independent and thankful to the Chinese for giving them the tools nessasary for modern statec-craft in return for military aid to the Comintern, because of their age they also have a mdoest army of 200,000 men.

A grand total of estimately Eleven million servicemen and women.

The Axis have with Norway two and a half million men, highly trained, well equipped, and with a good core of highly experianced divisions defencively they have proven to be as tough as nails. However being outnumbered 5 to 1 on average however isnt that bad.

As Poland has a standing army of five millions soldiers, hover they fight on possibly a far wider and pressing front versus an enemy that has when factors favor them won every engagement.

Thus the Axis have seven and a half million men, comparable to their enemies so if theyre careful and factors favour them can hold, especially choke points but once again this picture becomes more bleak when one considers Belgiums two and a half million men, and England's two million and seven hundred and fifty thousand men, and massive surface navy.

Norway's and its "allies" defeat seems for sure, although the huge distances involved (5000 mile long front in Siberia), no less then three oceans to get to Northern europe from Shanghai over sea, the wide fronts between Poland and Belgium, Norway and Belgium, and Norway and China (Spain-China vs Poland front is rather narrow but is an additional front nonetheless) makes the war similar to the Civil war was OTL for the Confederates and the Union, the industrial might and the manpower of all those arrayed against norway isn't enough to make itself felt everywhere at once and will take time for the noose to close.

There is however no doubt should the war last to say 1953 the war with all the combatants in the fight will irrevocably swing in China's favour.

But none of this denies the ability of Norway to win a short war byt quickly crushing Belgium (if possible and very unlikely if Daniel finally returns) and thus turn all of Polands might on Spain and China in Europe and redeploying the panzer and front line forces to the North sea coast of norway to fend off the Chinese and Spanish invasion force. and once these fronts are stabilized or removed concentrate once more upon China.

However this last scenario is unlikely as Norways troops are growing dangerously thin on the ground in various fronts, a knock out blow to Belgium requires possibly twice as many troops to finish off quickly (and whom still possess nearly twice as much IC as Norway and is near enough to Spanish and Chinese forces to be aided if needed).

Time especially with the loss of Norways reactor plant is on Communisms side.

Bah. Communism is destined for the ash-heap of history. With all the divisions they've lost, Belgium cannot possibly recover, and thus all the industrial heartland of Europe - that is to say, most of that IC that you were so gloatingly counting up as being against me - will fall into my hands. Or perhaps I shall permit them to continue as a Norwegian satellite, thus preserving what's left of their army for use against China. But in any case, I am only a few months away from a triumphant march through the ruins of Brussels. Winter or not. There is just not enough force on the Rhine front to stop me.

Well Indeed its rigth to say that the Republican Spain has finaly recovered from the last years devastating cathastrope in the Pyrenian front, and finaly the Rupublican guards have retaliated against the main foe in that unfortunate event; the Ynglings. Becouse it was them who lured us to challenge Burgundia in the peak of its migth and then backstabbingly switched sides, freeing the Burgundia to throw everything they got in the Europe against our incomplete defence line.

But now, the tide has turned. We have made our own knife stab to the Yngling back, literatly as our troops entered into the norweigan heart-land and Are in no-condition of retreating there anytime soon.

As the assaults main parts have been discriped in detail here, I wont go back them but I Shall make few poinst on the situation in Norway that the Ynglings seems to hide. The front showed in KoMs screen-shot is from the early part of the invasion, rigth after the intial assualty force had destroyed the nuclear reactor in Gällivara, and the first reinforcments had arrived. Since then the Front have moved so that the Seccond wave, that landed in the Oslo, together with PLA's strategical strike on Röros have concluded the Fall of Oslo, Hamar, Röros, Narvik and Gällivara under the control of the Rupublican Spain, thus making the situation in Bergen a quite sweat-pouring. (Unfortuanetly, the screenshot I take, came from wrong position, and I cannot present the situation by any image. Perhaps Sid or someone who has the save can do that)

In effect the Capital of the Yngling Kingdom with two other provinces have been cut out from the rest of the Norwegia and By our calculations are to be doomed, as the Combined PLAN and Armada Espana naval forces controls Baltic and North Sea from any reinforcments coming from German and Baltic Fronts.
Also, we like to remaind that the covardly nuclear strike to the allready smoking ruins of Madrid didnt make us to loose our sleep. It was by our counts the seccond one since 1948, and combined to the two other Burgundian trikes, totally a third nuclear strike against non-nuclear Spain....how manly  To retaliate that, we just like to inform, that the troops in Trondheim consist the core of what remainded of our Army after pyrenied's campaing, war-torn, seasoned and experienced infantry divisions that have just returned from their African and American retake-campaings.
The bulk of Spanish forces are tied to the Kaukasus, and we have to admit that the Northern front has costed us a change to rabid spanish led brake-trough in that direction.
And finally, a small force of Indian led Spanish troops keep retaking the South America as the main forces have destroyed firstly the Brittish resistance and in this new situation, the Norwegian one. Also, the people of Guayana has been liberated from the Norwegian slavery to rejoin the Spanish Imperium.
