The year is 1321 (or something,i can't remember). The Mod is CK2+, and The DLC's are all possessed.

Emperor Dermou sits as emperor of Outremer and soon Francia(as soon as his coward, weak and hated father drops dead), His ancestors having been faithful crusaders a hundred long years past; and his predecessors working long and tirelessly, suffering many martyrdoms( 4 previous strong rulers dead in warduels, all with infantile heirs... grrr) in the service of christianity; pushing back the Muslims to the edges of society. The Seljuks, the once might rulers, are reduced to paltry counts. The Fatamids are No more... The Pope sits fat and happy, declaring crusades further and further from home, growing rich on the blood of other men, his authority reaching an all time high....

Emperor Dermou is young and ambitious... Strong by birth, blessed with a genius of a wife, he knows no bounds in his dreams for glory... and indeed, it was fortold by his mother's murder that he would become... The Sword of Islam, the Hammerer of Rome, and the rightful Leader of all Islam.... Tired with the Machinations of Rome, Emperor Dermou bides his time, pacifying his Vassals and seeking a way out of his moral obligations to the Fat Papist pigs.... He wishes to convert, and drive back the greedy Christians, with their Crusader Kingdoms... And who better to do it than the emperor of Outremer, King of jerusalem?

So; who among you can help Emperor Dermou? The Crhstians are at moral authority 100%, Muslims are at like 20-30, if that... both shia and sunni... They might hold 1 or two holy sites... how can I convert? Egypt/syria are independant kingdoms of their own, I have the levant and a good bit of arabia
And how does emperor Dermou prevent getting crusade dogpiled by the papist dogs, who shall undoubtedly come hither?

You need to have a muslim capital, a muslim tutor for your heir, or a muslim liege, no way around. Take a muzz vassal, give him your crown, and convert, before taking it back, maybe.

About crusades, 25000 doomstack on Rome, if you take it immediately after the beginning of the crusade, you win.

Or, if you're in France, just wait for 7 more centuries, and you'll automatically convert.

In order to convert to an Islamic religion move your capital to a Muslim province and use the decision to convert to local religion from the intrigue tab. The downside is that a ruler can only move their capital once, unless you're moving it back to your primary title's de jure captial (for example the king of France can always move his capital to Paris, no matter how many times he has moved it before). So this may mess things up for you if your current capital is not your de jure capital.

There's no real way to prevent yourself from getting dogpiled. However, the crusaders will be poorly organized and they'll drop in one by one. One good doomstack paroling the coast will be able to smash most of them before they can gather and start posing a threat.

The Capital movement method is the first I thought of, however; doesn't the religion you are converting to have to be of equal or greater moral authority? (thats what i read on the (probably outdated) wiki anyways....) Thanks for your responses anyways!

Also... sayyid/Mirza.... How to obtain? I can't seem to get any of them into my court (for obvious reasons... and matrilineals are a NONO in the muslim sphere...

I don't think moral authority factors in it in any way. I've never had any problems converting to local religion. For example in a recent achievement run I was able to convert from Shia to Jewish as the Fatamids and in a Byzantium/Rome game I mended the schism, virtually wiped out Catholicism, and was still able to convert from Orthodox to Catholic without any issue despite the latter being reduced to a couple of provinces in Pomerania.

I haven't played Muslims much, but I do think Myrza phases out after a generation (i.e. it doesn't get passed on to children), so the one you'd really be after is Sayyid. That one is hard to get though if you don't have it yet. You need a female ruler or heir, a male Sayyid in your court, and a matrilineal marriage. Which in turn means neither the female ruler/heir nor the Sayyid male can be Muslim.

You might get lucky and find yourself with some Sayyid men in your court if you push a claim to a title held by a Sayyid, but it's not guaranteed to work. What be guaranteed to would work though, but would probably take several generations to achieve is if you convert to Islam (or be Muslim from the start), invite a Sayyid, convert back to a non-Muslim religion, demand religious conversion from the Sayyid (need 26 opinion or to imprison him and must be at peace), and then arrange a matrillineal marriage. Avoid inviting Zealous Sayyids as you'll only be able to convert him if you imprison him first and he might run away. If you can get on who has sympathy for your religion that is best. Anyway, the children of the union will be Sayyids and they can convert to Islam once again.

You'll note this method requires you to be able to switch capitals to a Muslim province and back to a non-Muslim de jure capital. You'll also need 2000 prestige. And it takes at least two generations in general, but since your current character is male it would be at least three generations instead (Dermou->female heir->Sayyid children).

You can move your capital to a muslim county, convert and then give that county away, which moves your capital again. I don't know how it decides where to move your capital, but when I did that to change cultures, it moved it back to where it was to begin with.
