Little back story. France PU'd and Integrated Castille very very early in the game and Austria broke their alliance with me right before French attacked. Thats one reason why France was so powerful.
This had to be the longest legit war I've ever had. By legit, i mean many battles throughout and huge ones to.

Through pure determination not to give up and give French any concessions and a massive amount of debt.. it took me nearly 25 years before I could turn the tables and go on the offensive.
I would split the war down into 3 'parts'

The first part would be the first 11 or 12 years when all of our allies were involved (France - England, Portugal, Trier, and Denmark) (Pope - Venice, Hesse, Poland, Pomerania, Ulm, and Saxony) in the first part, France was extremely offensive in Italy and pushed me back as far as Florence and Pisa where I was able to hold them there.

The second part of the war was between Years 12-25 where I would call the Stalemate. All our allies leaving the very bloody and pointless war. I was able to push France back to Savoy where the we would see countless battles back and forth and me losing a good amount of them I however did some strategic siege/defending the war goal to keep France from sending the -1 stability peace deals.

The final part of the war in the final 10 years or so, the french lost a major battle and I was able to go on the offensive and take most of southern France, however they came back in full force and took most of it back. I was able to get to Paris and the war looked like it was finally going to turn in my favor until "Bankruptcy Alert!!!!" With Paris in my hands I was able to finally get a white peace with France. But I ask myself at what cost? :(

Here is a few facts from this war
-War started Feb 1669 and lasted till May 1703.
-I went through 4 different Popes during the war!
-A total of 140 battles took place, I would say 80% of them were battles consisting of at least 50k troops on each side.
-Largest battle to take place was 186k French vs 121k Papal troops.
-Unfortunately I lost the majority of the battles but able to keep the war going due to high manpower + merc reinforcement/recovery.
-At one point in the first 10 years France had 63 war score on me and occupied all of northern Italy (Venice was ally-in-war with me)
-I had 163 loans at the end worth a total of 72.9k (I make about 40 ducats per month so that's around 150-200 years to pay off)
-All our allies white peace'd about half way into the war and was down just to vassals and colonies for help.
-Around 20 years into the war, I was able to get Austria as a ally again.. able to call them into war to help. They instantly 'White Peace' due to war length.

I'd like to know if any of you had similar extremely long wars that weren't what I call a waiting game.

They should fix this, they shouldn't join if they would white peace day on :D

I've never had a so long war, but I remember some long wars (25 years max I think) and it's what makes me love the game :)

I once had a 30 year war with France playing as Tunis. They occupied the southern half of Italy which I controlled and wanted me to release but I had naval superiority blockading all of mainland France and ocuppying all their colonies. Due to lost battles on my allies behalf this left the WS at around -20% so France would not peace out for favourable terms. Eventually they got locked into a large HRE war giving me the time and space to take Italy back and occupy Rome, my war goal, ultimately securing a concession of defeat just as they were returning to retake Italy. I didn't require any loans but a was constantly spending dip buying war exhaustion, I just didn't want to release Sicily as it was part of the achievement. I spent the next 100 years rolling up the Ottomans and taking military ideas eventually fighting the French again for the Aragonese provinces I required, the war was over so quickly demonstrating that if you have 130% discipline not even France can touch you!

Haha the troops had me beat in morale which is what killed me, and remember in my game France basically owns all of Iberia and is 2x stronger than you're normal France. I think i got extremely lucky in this war and did pretty good with what I had. For most of the war we were equal military tech (23) but he did beat me to military tech 24. I had 5% more discipline than them and was doing huge damage to them but each battle we had, my morale was so bad compared to them. And of course lucky France with god-like rulers and generals also helped them. Only 1 of my 4 popes in the war was a god ruler and helped me turn the tables on France. We were both able to keep our WE down for the majority of the war but i think just like me France started getting too much debt and didn't have enough monarch points to lower his WE anymore.

Longest war I had was a 56 year long war with Russia as Prussia. Mostly a lot of stackwiping and painful siege after siege through Russian winter, waiting for manpower to recover, then doing it all over again.

I took 360% OE in the peace deal, went through three monarchs, 400,000 manpower (four times), countless numbers of men, and about 400 AE, but it was worth it.

Your. Not you're, YOUR. Please, for the love of God, use proper grammar. I am absolutely tired of people on the internet just not giving a damn about grammar. It's frustrating.

And yes, this frustration comes from reading too many youtube comments which I could've avoided - but I'll be damned if I let some moron not caring about grammar "because internet" deter me from reading the comments I do care about.

Holy hell 50+ years lol. A lot of battles too? or was just most of it spent on sieges. I think if bankruptcy didn't force me to end my war. I would've tried occupying all of France and taking the most that I could. What makes this war stand out to me is just the huge amount of activity it had in battles.

I would've tried occupying all of France and taking the most that I could. What makes this war stand out to me is just the huge amount of activity it had in battles.

About 20 battles involving several hundreds of thousands of troops early in the war (the let's-slug-it-out stage), then about 70 more involving tens of thousands in little stack-wipe and hunter-killer stacks (the your-ass-is-mine stage), and about 300 quick wipes of a few thousand men at a time (the splat-you're-dead stage). I never ran low on cash because I controlled half of France, all of the HRE, most of Italy, all of Eastern Europe, all of Scandinavia, and the English section of the Isles, so I was rolling in dough.

When I ran out of manpower, I just went 1.5x my FL on mercenaries until I had more manpower again.

I once had a war like this as Russia. I'd just westernized (when it still gave western units), so I was a bit behind in tech. Poland saw its oppertunity and jumped me. At first, my tech disadvantage meat I lost several battles and had a lot of territory occupied. However, I progressed through techs faster than Poland, and was eventually ahead of them. The tables were turning, and, after 50 years of total war, hundreds of thousands of soldiers and a couple of loans, I took Polotsk.

It's not "beacuse internet". It's because we're not all native english speakers, so yeah, we make more mistakes, and there is nothing wrong with that. There is no problem with You correcting mistakes, but for gods sake, show some indulgence and, most important, CULTURE.

We had a MP game where it was France, Spain, Portugal and Italy versus Ottomans, Russia, Austria, and Prussia... That war lasted at least 50 years. The valiant defense of the Alps by the western coalition is now the stuff of legends in our MP group.

I constantly have 2 decade wars with France, playing as Spain, it always goes like this. Burgundy, my ally joins me in the war (burgundy succession never triggered), gets the crap beaten out of France while I conquer all southwestern french provinces. But since burgundians provinces have higher taxes, the war score keeps in favor of the french except for the little province I was able to conquer that was the CB. I then keep spending money hiring merchs to keep the french out of all the provinces I conquered until Burgundy settles for a separate peace and the war score jumps to 30-40 and I get what I want from them.
The last war, began around 1710 and ended on 1730, I was able to get ALL french provinces on the Mediterran Sea (which I like to call the Spanish Corridor), giving me direct contact to the HRE who made me Emperor after I vassalized 4 of the electors.
Now that I'm Emperor is just a matter of time before I can utterly crush Le Grand Bleu Blob.

Sounds like a 30 year war in the making.

Now, for the OP, you don't have the requirements tp create Kingdom of God or you don't want to? I always wondered if it was worth the trouble.
