After updating to 1.2 me and a friend started a new MP game after discovering that in the old one the AI had done no research and had build almost nothing other than ships.

Once again we have played through till war and after spying on the UK and noticing their transport practical was in the 20's i loaded up as them and discovered they have built over 200 transport ships!

I also loaded up as Russia and discovered they have 30+ subs are building BB's and need 110IC in CG.

So now the game runs at a good speed but there is no fun in it :(

If I recall correctly (this was happening 6 years ago so...) the overbuilding transports was an issue in HoI1 ! Someone should do PI a favor and destroy old, faulty pieces of programming that somehow seem to pop up with every new release.

Glenn is on the money here... minors doing silly stuff.. well that's just too bad.. majors being wonky destroys the challenge.
Both production AND research AI needs an overhaul and fine-tuned to the needs of major nations. Research and production AI should talk to each other and make and execute a plan like the player does.
Maybe give each major a set of valid goals it can pick from to execute research and production wise, or an even smarter idea.

Sinking fleets of transports doesn't really interest anyone.

I decided to come back in 4-5 months. Now it is indeed pointless.

Meanwhile, bought myself Victoria Revolutions which I never played. (Victoria is no doubt the best choice of an era for PI engine(s) and was enjoyable, after nth patch, but let's not get into this again...). Better go for safe stuff while waiting for PI to get things straight with its new releases.

Thanking all the people out there who have the energy to struggle with HoI3 and thus helping/pushing PI to really finish a promising (and only promising for now) product. No hard feelings hopefully. As for PI people, keep up with the good (part of your) work and stop delivering half-baked cookies!

Darn...I havn't played for 3 weeks after seeing the US build 11,000 escorts in my first game.If this is true and the AI is still retarded when it comes to production then I guess there is very little point in playing. Can people please keep the forum updated on this matter, especially when they get to later years playing the '36 scenario....

I noticed in my brazil game that Japan had 60 transport convoys and over 2500 escorts as well. Absolutely rediculous. I guess the only way to play HOI is in multiplayer.

That does indeed need tweaking but if I am not mistaken Von Reisender's autoslider mod improves AI production as well, as for technology there was a guy working on it some time ago, but he disappeared...

Except HOI3 uses the engine used in EU3 and EU:R, not HOI1, HOI2, etc.

So they unwillingly made pretty much the same faulty piece of programming they did like, seven years ago even with a new engine and code. :D

I loaded up the game in November 1936 as the USSR and they were building mostly soldiers and aircraft. That makes sense to me.

Are you sure this is not just a problem on your end?

And yes i am using patch 1.2.

Hopefully USSR is not building transport ships, but infantry units.
(Anyway, since AI dont research doctrines, his infrantry sux.)

BUT All naval countries (USA - UK - Japan) build tremendeous amount of Transport ships + Escorts.

Do us a favor and register your game please, then post these bug issues in the bug forums along with some accompanying pics. This will help PI to solve issues quicker, other than simply saying "X is broken, fix it" and not even have the decency to register your product. They need a seperate production AI for each major country, not a generic one for the whole world.

All the units have the same build priority regardless of the country.

If you look in the code you can see that at 1 point they do something specially for USA. hopefully they expand on this :p

The transport bug has been reported in the bug forum.

The issue is apparently that if a theater is requesting transports, they are built, then they are assigned to a theater that is *not* requesting transports, and more are queued up and built, because the other theater still needs them.

It's not just the UK that is doing this. Netherlands does this, Germany does this. I haven't looked at all nations but I bet there are others.
