Are you planning to make more guides in the same thread? I was wondering if you could clean the guide up? Make sure that people don't post comments on your guide, it gets harder to read when others "interrupt". Everybody has different views on strategy, so there will always be disagreements. It becomes more of a strategy discussion when others post in between your guide-related posts.
Maybe you can collect all your guides for England in one thread when you have finished them? (and asking people not to post there)

Not in a Guide. If I'm writing a guide I don't want to discuss the strategies...
But, off course, I don't know what intentions UBootMan had with his thread. But if I feel like reading a guide, I do feel it's disturbing with all those short posts where people say that they disagree, or have som "moderations" to the strategy. I think you should take this thread off of the Game & Forum Info for New Users & Major Thread Links, because I feel you are putting too much restrictions on me.
edit: Hopefully you recocnize that there are differences between a discussion and a guide. That's why I asked UBootMan, because I got the impression that it was a guide on how he felt that warfare should be done with England. Not that he was going to discuss/ask what others felt about it.

The first post in a thread can be edited to update his version and the remaining post to comment on it. Thus the original poster may learn something he had not considered, and others can adapt and learn from him.

It is a guide, unfortunately some "geniuses" are posting to it. Could a mod plz delete those posts and close the thread.
So you are saying that when writing a guide, the author is actually asking for a discussion, and that he hopes to learn something from others? I believe a person who writes a guide is rather certain what he means and wants with his work. If he wanted to learn, I think he'd rather ask a question looking for som clarity in the subject brought up
He is offering his oppinion. Others are free to do the same, I would rather not have 100 threads discussing Strategy for England in one particular campaign.
You are pointing out my point exactly in this matter: We don't want 100 threads on england-discussions for one scenario. That's why we are compiling the discussion threads here. And that's why it would be nice if everybody didn't discuss the same things over and over in every guide. We can all discuss it it one thread, thought it might be easier to get help from the forum that way.

This thread is really worthless if it can't provide viewers with anything else but a regular discussion thread, where people drift off topic times and again. (this wil eventually happen in a guide too if people keep posting). I don't know what others feel, but I started this thread because I feel that it is often hard to find what I'm looking for due to the fact that every discussion looks like the same: A couple of post related to topic, and the rest just flying away into a completely different subject.

If the first post in the thread contains the updated guide and thus the information you are looking for what is the problem?
If you do not want to read others views on the guide then don't!
And now this thread is completely worthless because those involved pulled the rug completely out of under it. This thread, now deleted by Ulyanov, was not closed by Ulyanov because of disagreements with the moderator, it was closed because Ulyanov seems a bit too caught up in the definition of what this is. I was really hoping that this thread was not going to be about the power trip that it has become.
Its too bad because it was really shaping up and now we have nothing. Ulyanov, sorry if this sounds inflamatory, but you had a great idea going, just drop the pretense and put it back together man, we're all behind you. Stop trying to over define it, at its minimum, a list of topic threads, it was an incredible resource, especially since the search function is down. No offense, but you are jumping the gun. Get your thread going and work within the rules. If this thing continues to grow beyond its bounds and the users start to petition the moderators who knows what it may become. You may get your wish after all, but stop trying to get it all at once. You don't start a game as Bavaria and immediately attack Austria, grow your country first man.
Please, Please, Please put it back together!!! I think I'm not alone in saying that what you were doing was really valuable even though it may have not been your ideal.
Off course, I had a "vision", and nothing turned out the way I wanted it. It's great if you liked it the way it turned out to be, but you should thank Castellon, he's the one that shaped the thread's form. It's really sad to see that I am the big betrayer here, just because I don't want to be responsible for someone else's ideas and to do the administrative work for a thread I never intended to start.
Sorry, but I don't want to run Castellon's thread. I don't have much sparetime besides studying and working, and I sure don't want to use the little time used on these forums working on a thread which I have absolutely no influence on. And by the way, I also felt that this thread actually had little or no value because of the fact that it just was a list of links to undescribed/scrutinized discussion-threads. And if it is just a list of links this should be, I guess some of you people can put such a thread quick together. Shouldn't be a too big job to do.
