Due to disagreements and cooperation problems with a moderator, I've decided to take with me my "ideas" and retreat from this thread.

The initial ideas to a thread like this can be found here

Thank you, Flame of Udûn! Now we got this thing going! ;) Hopefully, as more people steps by our humble thread, people will comment and/or discuss these threads and say why they feel certain guides/discussions are good or bad.

I would appreciate if someone could help me with making the "rules"/requirements a discussion or a guide has to fullfill to make it to our list above. The threads should be scrutinized in some way, but off course not to strict :)

Soo, making your own list, are you Flame? Hehe By the way, I believe the Teutonic Order thread is 1492 scenario. They are discussing the CoT in Danzig, which is not there in 1419, but in Kurland. I think the Siebenbürgen one is too short to make it to the list. I really appreciate that you are looking up country related discussions around here. Keep it up!

The COT usually moves to Danzig in the early stages of the game anyway due to event.

Ok, I just want to ask a question about general strategy, is it possible to do a WC with the smaller, 1 or 2 province German countries? I REALLY, REALLY want to do a WC with Saxony.

Yes. Rich germany provinces will launch you ahead in the tech race very early, giving you an edge over everyone including France, and Austria. After that its the normal - Vassalize Europe, and then diplo-annex them once you're ready to kick BB wars off.

I suggest, you make a clean new thread after we have enough amount of links so there will only be links.

My plans for this thread was also that it should be a discussion forum concerning strategy, and where we can refer to good discussion threads if anyone had some concerns concidering a country they're playing. I will post all new links in the second post of this thread, so it won't be neccesary to make a new one, as I don't have any plans of ending this thread. I was thinking of it as more like the
bAAR kind of thread, exept that this would have discussions and recommendations on strategy guides or on country-specfic discussion-threads that people find very helpful. Therefor I would be happy that you do not just post a bunch of links and just leave it with that. I want people to find/make good threads and talk more about them and be selective and critical to what they bring up here. This thread would be more helpful to people if we had some discussions going on :)

So, if anyone has found many links (without knowing much about the content of the thread) that you wonder if could be listed here, I would prefer if you send me a PM. I would like to see this thread as a more "active" one! By the way, thank you for the contribution kucing! ;)

Wow! I've played this game for 2 years now, never saw it happen! Is it a Teutonic event? :)

Anyway, a strategy guide for the US would be interesting. Or is this only for WC guides?

How have you gotten that impression? Any guide would be welcome. WC is no fun anyway! :) I like nice and tidy games. I'm making a guide to Brandeburg/Prussia which I will make a link to soon. No warmonging there! :p

NO!

You are drifting here.
This was set up as a link thread to different nation specific strategy threads.

We do not want one thread to discuss strategy. That is what the general discussion forum is for!

I see...

It wasn't my intention to discuss general strategy here, but to present the threads to each other. It would be more meaningful if people were more aware of what the main focus in the suggested threads are. It doesn't mean that I'm not going to add more links to the list. I thought maybe, when the list was beginning to get really long, people could ask which "Brandenburg-thread" that was most handy if one was curios about, for instance, events mainly. If there where 15 links concerning Brandenburg they wouldn't have to look through all of them, if others knew which one that focused on events. But if posting in this thread takes up too much space or anything, we can always call it the day. (If I may, I would like to continue this thread. So if this mean you have to take it off the "Game & Forum Info for New Users & Major Thread Links"-sticky you are running, I have to live with that)

You can continue the thread, just don't discuss the strategies in this thread. That is what the linked to threads are for.

I also think the problem is that initially you will be linking threads that already exist, therefore knowledge of them may be limited.
Once you start adding current links, what you are looking for is more likely.

You can also put a short description in brackets if the thread is on a specific strategy, rather than something general.

Basically this thread should be for maintaining the list of links and reporting new threads. Comments on the particular threads should be made within those threads.

I still think that there's two distinct types of threads, which are currently both 'properly' placed in the 'general discussions' forum for lack of anywhere else to put them. he country-specific 'strategy' type discussions, such as the ones referenced here, and basic gameplay questions like "how do I load my armies on ships?" or "what are the requirements to diploannex?".

In my personal opinion - and, I think, those of several other people, judging by their posts - the admins/mods should reconsider the possibility of splitting these off into a new subforum, rather than artificially making them hard to find by forcing them into the already cluttered general discussions area, which is also the catch-all for things like newbie questions on how to play the game itself.

I point out that out of the 50 most recent threads in the 'general discussions' area at the time of this post, only 8 would fit into this category, and that's about normal. So in order to find these threads (without going through the selective list provided here) you have to sift through 5 times as many threads which bear absolutely no resemblance to them.

People will still start new threads on the same topics, I have see threads started on the same topic that is right under the one they just started. Also most people use the default setting of displaying only the threads from the last 30 days. So lots of nations would have their threads slip off the listing and definately off the first page.

As most of you know if it is not on the first page then it does not exist for most members. Therefore the idea of a link thread and a link to it in a sticky thread seams the best solution.
