Paradox Major Faux pas?

After reading many of these complaints, and being very familiar with customer service and marketing, if Paradox dosen't quickly address the major issues of it's biggest supporters they will find that their future offerings will be ignored and then they'll be one more Computer gaming company making chinese cheap junk to stay afloat.

Too bad to be true!

It's not as if Paradox has made it so you're running around with laser guns blasting Aliens, or put Germany in South Africa - a couple of cities are slightly out of position.

You are wrong. There are many many mistakes in the map. Brest is one of them, Stalingrad an other. Is HOI3 a fantasy game based on a fantasy world map? No, of course it isnt! This is why you are so terribly wrong. And Im sure you are wrong about what the PI Develop Team really meant to produce with HOI3. They saw the map after it was designed and chose to do little or nothing about it. It's a game breaker (for a game like this is SUPPOSE to be) and it's going to be a bad witch for this game until they do the changes neccessary.

Oh and its not a bad ww2 game because there just isnt a ww2 but a free for all moshpit cagematch tekken tek tournament without ANY resemblance to ww2, and never even gets away on the right foot (japan being beaten out of china, italy conquering entire france etc)

i am a devoted fan of paradox and i almost have all their games..

its the 2nd time after Rome that i feel like i got an unfinished product. I know paradox along with moders will fix it but i paid 40e for this..

Next time i will wait till 3 patches some mods and the 50% discount to buy a game.

Sorry

After catching up on this thread all I can say is...wow! And I thought I had some issues with the game.

I remember thinking how HoI2 was so constrained by historical reality and wishing I had more freedom to both see and do novel things. Ok, so maybe Mexico invading the Reich is a bit rich, but isn't that the price we pay for gaming liberation elsewhere? Surely it must be nice to be able to turn ones back on the SU and do business in the west without having to assume the SU will inevitably come in on historical cue and spoil the party? How about researching nukes as a non-USA country, should that be impossible too?

All I know so far, from what I've experienced playing the full game, is that me and my bros are going to enjoy the crap out of this in MP. But I do understand the angst of those who feel HoI's historical credentials have been somewhat betrayed. But like I said earlier, if that's the price for a more flexible experience I think it's worth it.

I think they made a bad decision with the map, it seems like that for some reason, the new province system required that all the provinces be roughly the same size. And I would bet that because of that, they were unable to put everything on the map in the place it was supposed to be (like some others have said, I have a hard time believing that they misplaced Stalingrad, especially since this isn't exactly their first WWII era map). Put me in with the group that thinks having an accurate map should have been a higher priority.

As for the other bugs, this is just par for the course--anyone expecting different shouldn't have. If the underlying game engine is good, the game will end up fine (at least judging by past releases--I found Rome to be flawed from the start, even without the bugs). So I think if you basically like the game, but wish the bugs were gone and the crazy implausibilities as well, you'll end up enjoying HOI3.

doesn't anybody else hate the fact that it takes forever (ie. 2-4 seconds) for the names of the provinces to appear? sometimes they never show up. I need to know the names of the provinces right away.

Riiiiiight. You have fun telling the internet how badly paradox screwed up while I have fun playing the game. ;)

The map may be immersion breaking and a game ruiner for you (and a few vocal others), it isn't for me and many others, and paradox aren't changing it, and I'm sure they didn't misplace all these cities just to piss off their customers - they made a design decision, and for better or for worse stuck to it. I wouldn't mind if they released a patch moving major cities back to their 'rightful' places, but it doesn't bother me.

OHgamer is working on a map mod which should clear up all these problems, if you can hang on a few months. The game might even be bug free by then!

with the current AI it doesnt really matter, if you have events unfolding that arent even remotely along the historical lines why bother with a map thats halfway accurate...i really expected them to at least fix stalingrad with 1.1, should have been some minor adjustments but according to their posts its supposed to be there cause its "functional"

after sacrificing all my sleep before my trip i stayd up and playd all evening and night. its gonna be a LOOONG DAY tomorow

i regret staying up.

i got annoyed as hell by
:
CONSTANT trade offers from minor nations like 0.38 supplies for 0.08 money wich they cancel 3 weaks later. mexico and latvia send me like 10 trade offers a months it feels like. damm freaking annoying.

poland in allies 1936....
finland in allies
will this mean war with allies-soviet?
hard to trade for oil. no one sells it
everyone trade with or for supplies-money. very boring

game is very slow. took me 8-9 hours to 1939 from 1936. on fastest with barely no time stops. and this is on an endgame computer used to host multiplay games with 25 active human managers in fm 09 who is very demanding. do i need to say 16gb ram fastest motherboard fastest hd configuration hehe.

scrolling of map and colours gonna be patched up soon , they cant have it like that.

Did I actually hear some fanboy say "you'll just have to fight the battle of Stalingrad out on the plains."

Uh, perhaps we can also fight the battle of Midway in Nantucket Sound or some such.

I want to fight the battle of Stalingrad in STALINGRAD. This is not an unreasonable thing to expect or ask. After all, placement of Volga was kind of important to the whole thing as it unfolded in real life.

I am actually very insulted by Paradox's attitude and response to this.
