I really want to try out this mod but I have no idea which version is current. I think the version on the front page has been superseded, but I can't find a definitive and cumulative newer version in the forum. Does anyone have a cumulative patch?

Did either one of you read my post. There is no new version until EJ gets around to fixing the issues with the new Beta. He has dropped out of communication again. So there will be no new version unless he comes back or someone else volunteers to help fix bugs. I hope this makes it clear.

I think it is very important that this mod and others like it are supported, as they ultimately define Darkest Hour as being a game like no other.

That's great news novapaddy your reputation in modding speaks for itself!! I'm a long-time fan/player of this mod but frustrated at the constant 'false hopes' of new versions released.. It would be great for an experienced modder to recognise the potential here and work with it.

OK that should do for a start. I do not remember if I still have your email. Please give it to me again. I have about 3 pages of feedback that I sent to EJ. My email is kevinpnunn@hotmail.com or backup is kevinnunn38@yahoo.com. There is a weird bug that hits it seems later in the game, maybe 1940 or so. I included it in my emails. I put the debug line in there and it works as a bandaid to just change the setting from 1 to 0. Anyway, please get the mod downloaded and get me your email and I will forward the playtesting feedback. The mod is better than before and really enjoyable. Thanks again for volunteering and keep up the good work brother.

Hey P the version on Page one is the latest. However if you see my post above the link is for the new beta, this is not intended for everyone yet. I am not even sure if the link is still active. Hang on... Yep it is as of now. NovaPaddy has graciously volunteered to help so it would probably be better to wait until NP works his magic. There is a game breaker bug but I do have a bandaid. The deathdate.txt is wrong and has no Ebert or Hindenburg deaths which are needed to get Hitler into power. I just copied them from the .bak file and that seemed to work. So it is up to you and anyone else who does not want to wait.

OK, I am working my way through delanonne's notes regarding fixes for the beta version.

So far I have fixed all the events with no text.

I will now proceed to see if I can fix the units / counters etc which are broken.

UPDATE: All counters now match the new units, a messy job, but done.

UPDATE 2: There is now a major problem with this mod.

If you are going to take units from another mod, you really need to be very careful.
No only will the divisions_types.txt file need to be changed, the counters also, the tech files also, the event files, if you are also taking the events which mention those new units; AND OF COURSE, if your new units do not have the same d_xx number, you are seriously building problems on top of problems for yourself.

You will start to get problems like delanone mentioned in his notes,

ERROR : (Illegal model 1 for Superheavy Artillery) 'd_22 = {' Line = 73803 file = Mods\The Grand Campaign\scenarios\save games\Germany_1941_May_1.eug

well d_22 is now superheavy artillery, which is ok, but it is only one model, while in the armor_tech file it has more models mentioned, hence the crash.

EDIT:
I'll just follow what EJ has done and try to get everything to hang together and work.

That's strange.I get a crash every time I try to load a saved game.

Well some important files have had changes to them. I would be surprised if any savegames worked at all. The changes mostly affect WW2 events etc, so if you are at WW2, then bad luck. You may get away with a savegame from before WW2, but it will be a matter of luck.

From my experience of this mod,it has all the historical events which you just mentioned.

Glad to hear it:).I know about Peace without victory mod which is fantastic and focuses on interwar events and politics.

Hey J both this mod and PWV are based off of the old AAR mod which was made to link the 1914 scenario to the WW2 scenarios. The majority of the work was on the interwar years which did not exist. Ericafaq and EJ had different visions for how the mod should go so they have different approaches to how to get a historical outcome for WW1 and some of the interwar events.

This is my first post so I'd just like to say thanks to everyone involved with these mods. They really take the game to a whole new level.

I also started having problems with my saved games after the update. And I don't mean my old saved games but I can't seem to be able to load any new saved games. If I start a new game, save it and try to load the game later, it crashes. I was able to load an old game I had saved using the previous version, though it gave me errors.

It seems to work now. I installed the latest version and Novapaddy's fixes, started a new game and saved it. I tried this many times and loading the new game made the game crash each time.

I installed the latest version without Novapaddy's fixes, did the same thing and loading a game worked as it should. I wanted to check if it was one of the fixes that caused the crashing for me so I added one fix and loaded the game I had saved earlier (the one without the fixes). The game loaded as it should so I saved the game again, added another fix, loaded the game etc. etc. I've added all the fixes and loading a game works as it should now. But is this okay since I started the game without any of the fixes?

Hey C thanks for the feedback. That is exactly the sort of information that we need. There are still some more tweaks and fixes to come.

I've checked a savegame and yes it does stall, but if you press "i" for ignore, and Return, you can play.

I have amended the GER.inc file as there was a mistake in the file not spotted.

If you have used the previous FIX files posted yesterday, the only change today is in the GER-Germany.inc file. So just replace this one file from today's uploaded files over your previous version.

d_19 is a naval unit and it was listed as a land unit. The game reading the savegame stopped as this is incorrect, as the parameters in the file are for a naval unit, and it was being told to see it as a land unit. Smart game!
