The problem with letting the a.i. touch your nation for even a second is that it will instantly mess everything up. I organized my troops into chunks I like lead by proper leaders, got the ministers set up etc.
The one thing I always hated in HoI2 were the tech teams. You constantly have to pause, select new tech (and find one with the proper historical year) and match it with a proper tech team. In the inter war years (20 years) I assume that you'll pretty much have to play on ultra fast. That means that basically all you do is mixing and matching.
One solution that I always had in mind is to aggregate techs. There's not really a need for: artillery 1920, 1922, 1924, 1926...
The event chains are leading to 2 world wars from 1914 - ~1918 and 1939 - ~1945. The 20 years between the world wars don't support wars on a scale that would warrant such small increments between techs.
Gameplay could be much smoother by aggregating inter war tech into bigger chunks and multiplying the cost accordingly. Tech A1920, A1922, A1924 could become A'1924 with 2.5*A1924 cost.
Maybe it's just me, but I can't imagine someone liking this stupid HoI2 tech system with unnecessary matching and no tech queues.
Hey S we did not make the tech tree. Changing it is not easy. We are however looking into changing it with the help of a new volunteer who has a ton of experience so it may happen. As far as letting the AI mess up you organization, yes it happens but if you do not want to wade through the interwar years there are not a lot of choices. You can still do one long handsoff game to get through and then start a country. I often do that and it can be a lot of fun. I have seen some really cool things happen and I think hey it would be fun to play xxxx to see how it goes.
