The problem with letting the a.i. touch your nation for even a second is that it will instantly mess everything up. I organized my troops into chunks I like lead by proper leaders, got the ministers set up etc.
The one thing I always hated in HoI2 were the tech teams. You constantly have to pause, select new tech (and find one with the proper historical year) and match it with a proper tech team. In the inter war years (20 years) I assume that you'll pretty much have to play on ultra fast. That means that basically all you do is mixing and matching.

One solution that I always had in mind is to aggregate techs. There's not really a need for: artillery 1920, 1922, 1924, 1926...
The event chains are leading to 2 world wars from 1914 - ~1918 and 1939 - ~1945. The 20 years between the world wars don't support wars on a scale that would warrant such small increments between techs.
Gameplay could be much smoother by aggregating inter war tech into bigger chunks and multiplying the cost accordingly. Tech A1920, A1922, A1924 could become A'1924 with 2.5*A1924 cost.

Maybe it's just me, but I can't imagine someone liking this stupid HoI2 tech system with unnecessary matching and no tech queues.

Hey S we did not make the tech tree. Changing it is not easy. We are however looking into changing it with the help of a new volunteer who has a ton of experience so it may happen. As far as letting the AI mess up you organization, yes it happens but if you do not want to wade through the interwar years there are not a lot of choices. You can still do one long handsoff game to get through and then start a country. I often do that and it can be a lot of fun. I have seen some really cool things happen and I think hey it would be fun to play xxxx to see how it goes.

Hey, it's me again.

Still playing as China (Yunnan->CPM), I'm running into a little problem. After WW1, in 1919, the "May 4th Movement Grows" event keeps happening every three days, with no end. It's bumped me up from zero to 60 dissent. Does this have anything to do with the fact that Zhili has annexed Beiyang China already? If so, is there any fix for it?

Hey S this looks like another gift from the latest version of the game. We did not do the events for China. Limith worked on them a lot and then left the mod a long time ago. He reads and speaks Chinese and was able to get a lot of information from Chinese documents. I do not know exactly what happened with him and Paradox since he was part of the dev team for a while. I am sure that event is not supposed to fire endlessly. Are you playing Yunnan at this point or CPM? I can try to find the event and see if I can figure something out. We have had a few events like this. Maybe I can change it to not persistrnt if that is the problem. I will have to look in the events to find it. Knowing which file to look in will help. So please let me know.

Man I cannot agree with this more.

But usually I see them curb stomp the ottomans by around the end of 1915... that's evidently where they send all their troops. perhaps the BEF needs to be event coded to teleport to France at least in time for the battle of Mons? 9 times out of 10 i never even see Brits fighting in the western front only commonwealth nations like Canada. It makes it way, waaay too hard for France to hold out against the schlieffen plan unless it can somehow hold until the Treaty of London with Italy by end of 1915. even then the damage is usually done and it's impossible to hold after the Russian revolution against the 250+ german infantry divisions throwing themselves at the poor le frenchmans

Hey T you are right but the AI France usually is able to beat the Germans even after they get back all of the divisions from the Russian front. I am not sure why that is. I am not sure why the Brit AI does not help France. Is the UK in the Entente. We fixed it so they should be if at war with Germany. The US does help but they often get stuck in Mexico and miss the war completely. I can try and look at the UK AI to see if it has any priority to help France. I will let you know what I find out.

Hey, thanks for the reply again!

I'm currently playing as CPM. The war against Beiyang went historical, so I'm mostly holed up in the south. In 1918, Zhili Clique went to war with Beiyang China and won, having now annexed it. As far as I can tell, that's the historical outcome. Anyway, thanks for the help, this is for obvious reasons kind of breaking the game for me right now.

One other peculiar thing of notice is that with every instance of the event, another "No immediate outcome" or however that was phrased is added at the end of the event effects.

Hey S I was looking at the May 4 movement events and it seems that they are there to drive your dissent up to 60 and then there is an event called Protest the Treaty of Versailles that drops it by 40. Did you get that one? If so then it looks like it is working as Limith intended. I knew that China was a mess but after looking for that event I am sure of it now. This all started as Limith's CCIP mod and I helped him do a lot of the research for numbers of troops for the Nats and Commies. I guess Paradox took his work and put it into the game. From the events I can see that some of them are supposed to be temporary. I know that it always ends up with the Nats in control. I suspect that Paradox made it that way or left it that way. I was never in on what he was trying to do with his mod, only helping with research. I am not sure what can be done to change it. I do not like the way it is going right now. Can you code events? If you want to work on it that would be great. Otherwise we have nobody that seems to care about China. I do of course since I live here but I cannot code for beans. Let me know if you have any ideas or want to help out.

Hey guys the creation of the Red Army event I believe is supposed to fire more than once since they have almost nothing when the Revolution starts. There are special force limit events that keep the Red Army at 50 or 60 units until the Civil War is over. So I do not really see a big problem with it. I have not looked at it much though. Rudi was supposed to work on the RCW and the Sov-Pol war.

Hey T I looked at the Eng AI for 1914 and it has France and Calais as high priority areas to help defend. The highest of any actually. So I do not get why they do not help. Maybe they need an event to put the BEF in France. I am not sure how to make one though. Does anybody have an idea how to do it? If somebody can make an event and test it to make sure it works I can add it to the next version of the mod. Please let me know.

Alright, this is peculiar. Just now, I tried it again and once it hit 63%, the event you mentioned fired with no problems. However, on my previous attempt, it had gotten me up to over 80% and nothing happened. Maybe it had to do with having shut the game down in-between. So it's working as intended ... sometimes?

Unfortunately, I'm not much more of an expert when it comes to coding events. Which is a real pity here, because I find the history of Interwar China absolutely fascinating and it is one of the main things drawing me to this mod.

Well S it is a good thing then that we all get to enjoy the fruits of Limith's labor. He worked long and hard to make this work well. I wish this was not a cut down version of his work that always seems to turn out the same. Before you could get all sorts of different situations buy 37 with different factions owning Manchuria and some nice variety. If I had the time and skills I would like to bring back more of his original version. He however was never able to finish it. I do not know why he left but, it is a sad loss for all of us. China could use some more love. At least it is working ok sometimes.

Hey that event is just a quick way to adjust the difficulty level of the game. You can leave it on no change. It was written by a guy who left recently. I decided to leave it there. It does not hurt anything.

Hey R did you follow the instructions on post number two on page one? You just unzip the TGC mod folder and put it into the DH mods folder. You only need the folder with all of the TGC files in it. There may be one extra level of folder that you do not need. I hope that makes sense. Let me know if you still have problems.
