Oh deary me, what is Alvadro doing... manifestation of the people? this is doomed to failure. And poor old Alejandro, caught between people who hate him, and those who don't trust him, it will be interesting to see what he brings out of this sorry situation.

Whatever respect I had for the Republic is gone....they deserve to be washed away and a new resistance formed once those idiots receive their just consequences...spontaneous manifestation? Leadership entails responsibility, not passivity!

And though he be now their foe, even if it were otherwise I would not dwell longer in this city in the vain hope of rescue from some ethereal source. Yet I am not the only valiant in this valiant people. And have ye not all lost your nation? And what else have ye not also lost, cooped here in a narrow land between the moutains and the sea?
Here once was light, that the Republic begrudged to California, but now darkness pervades all. Shall we mourn here deedless for ever, a shadow-folk dropping vain tears into the thankless sea? Or shall we return to our homes? There they lie still and await us who in our folly forsook them. Come away! Let the cowards keep this city!

Looks like this is going to be a siege at a final redoubt. Alejandro's fought one of these before. I'm not worried about San Francisco.
But if a mass popular uprising fails to spark, I don't know what the fate of the nation is. I still think that British Canada, or perhaps Mexico (is Juarez in power now? He should be an Alvarado fan), will tire of the instability at their border and go in to set things right. Kind of like the Eagles at the end of Return of the King.

Dosen't anyone realize that Alejandro was the one who fought the battle at Tijuana? Never trust Anglos in AARs.
Alvarado certainly isn't of the same caliber as the American Founding Fathers I have a feeling that General Morgan will not exactly meet a happy end either; how the loyal Dons feel would be interesting...
