January 1, 1492
I have been appointed the Minister of Vinland today by our king, Asegeir Egilsson. I surveyed our realm, carved out of the wilderness and the pride of all who dwelt within it. We had 400 ducats in the treasury, excellent (+3) stability and the provinces of Nova Scotia (our capital), Fundy, Micmac and Bangor, as well as our colonies in Gaspesie (Level 5), Isle Royale (Level 3) and Wabana (Level 2). We still used mostly battleaxes (Land Tech 0), but were excellent seafarers (Naval Tech 2) and skillful traders (Trade Level 1). Additionally, a Vinland princess was married to a Danish price, giving us contact with that country. She would give us excellent intelligence about what happened in the old lands. We also have 10,000 infantry and 2,000 calvary stationed in Nova Scotia.
I started by trying to send some of our merchants to earn profit for us in Europe. To my great chagrin, it was well beyond our means (I could only access the northern CoTs which were worth little, and had to pay 16 ducats per merchant). Therefore, we decided instead to use 185 ducats from our treasury to fund three colonists to our three colonies.
