We try to arrange a royal wedding with Algeria, but they refuses.

13/2
Our peace treaty with Spain is no longer in effect. Now it's time to start taking back what is rightfully ours (Toledo&Gibraltar). The Spaniards has strengthened their fortification in Toledo (after all, there is a lot of gold in those mountains) and we don't believe we are strong enough to deal with that yet. Gibraltar on the other hand has only a small garrison and should be taken quite easy, if we just could get rid of that 16000 army they have stationed there first of course. To our big surprise Spain hasn't fortified either Murcia or Estrameduras. Those arrogant Christian dogs don't seem to take us seriously. Maybe they don't think that a tiny little country like us would ever dare to wage war against their mighty empire. It'll be our greatest pleasure to teach them the opposite.
We summon the Spanish ambassador and hand over our declaration of war to him. First he just sits there staring at us with disbelief but when he realize we're deadly serious, his face turns red and he furiously leaves the room without saying a word.
We soon hear that Spain has activated their alliance and that we are now at war with Spain (Lorraine, Kurpfalz, Cologne, Poland, Helvetia, Hesse). Bah, we couldn't care less, non of these countries have the slightest possibility to send troops to southern Spain. We turn to our allies for help and The Hanseatic League, Hannover, the Teutonic Knights and Brandenburg join us in our war. The treacherous Portugal and Venice brings disgrace upon themselves and dishonour our alliance. So in practice we have one war here in Spain and another up in northern Europe (always nice to see Christians fighting Christians).
Colonel Jafar (16364, 2874) is ordered to take Gibraltar, colonel Suwaida (16000, 3000) is to march into Estrameduras and then go on to Castille. Colonel Sebha and colonel Marbat shall take their small (1000) expeditionary forces aboard a transport and then set course for The Baleares and The Canary Islands, two unfortified Spanish provinces.
Our scouts also report that the Spanish army (16000) in Gibraltar is marching towards Andalusia.

13/3
Jafar lays siege on Gibraltar.

22/3
Suwaida is intercepted by the Spanish army in Andalusia and before he has time to form his lines the Spanish charges and win a major victory. Suwaida is forced to retreat back to Sierra Nevada with what is left of his army (7005, 1044) .
Now happens something that has to be called a miracle. The entire Spanish army who has just begun to siege Cadiz, vanishes without a trace! Maybe Allah intervened and let the ground open beneath the infidels to swallow them completely. Yes, that's after all the version we're going to spread across the world, then everyone will realize which side is truly supported by the Almighty.

19/5
After having regained his strength in Sierra Nevada, Suwaida makes a swift move into Murcia and then marches on to Estrameduras.

30/7
Suwaida arrives in Estrameduras, still no Spanish troops in sight. Very strange!

26/8
Genoa makes an expensive peace with Savoy, they have to pay 238D.
Helvetia pays 102D to France in exchange for peace.

28/8
When the Spaniards finally shows up, it's a pitiful sight. A tiny army (1506) tries to recapture Etrameduras but is severely beaten by Suwaida, who kills 506 enemies while only losing 7 infantry and 2 cavalry.

10/9
Our two transports are intercepted by two Spanish warships in the Straits of Gibraltar, they immediately flees towards the Gulf of Almeira and then resumes their original courses.

22/9
Helvetia makes a status quo-peace with Savoy.

23/9
Our allies Hannover pays 101D indemnity to Kurpfalz for peace. Incompetent fools!

8/10
Hannover makes peace with Spain as well, this time paying 19D.

2/12
Colonel Marbat lands his army on The Baleares.

30/12
Colonel Sebha lands on The Canary Islands.

1500

14/5
Jafar, now reinforced with 4000 men under colonel Anaba, assaults the walls of Gibraltar for the fifth time and this time he's successful. At last Gibraltar is ours.
Jafars army is now reduced to (10836, 1769) while Anaba who just took part av the final assault only lost 101 men.

1/6
We have now learned to make cannonballs cast in one piece. (Seatech 3).

7/6
A Spanish army (9586) tries to drive Suwaida (5209, 685) out of Estrameduras and this time they succeed. Suwaida retreats with the remains of his army (3471, 337) into Andalusia.

26/6
Jafar och Anabas combined armies (13981, 1659) rushes into Estrameduras and in a bloody battle kills 3239 of the 8732 Spanish soldiers that just some 19 days earlier defeated Suwaida. Those Spaniards knew how to fight though, 2683 men of our infantry and 396 of our cavalry found their way to Paradise.

4/8
Jafar and Anaba marches into Castille and for the second time in less than ten years a Moorish army stands outside the walls of Madrid.

22/10
Colonel Nasiriyah and his 3000 newly recruited men reinforces the siege of Madrid.

26/11
Our trade post in Jamaica is now level 2.

1501

3/1
We're greatly surprised when we're told that Spain has made peace with France, giving Luxembourg away and paying 142D in indemnity. We summon our foreign minister and ask him how come we weren't informed that Spain and France were fighting a war. His pathetic excuses can't stop his head being separated from his body. When the survival of the nation is at stake there is no room for incompetence.
Well, at least this explains the absence of any major Spanish forces so far. Bur now we'd better hurry, it can't be too long before the Spanish armies arrive from the French frontier. Good thing we already ordered the remnants of Suwaidas army (3471, 337) to help in the siege.

22/1
Our allies once again disgraces themselves, first it was Hannover and this time it's the Hanseatic League who is forced to an humiliating peace with Helvetia, paying them 101D.

7/3
Moldavia now is a vassal to Russia.

14/4
The day we have long feared is now upon us, a large Spanish army (33675) led by Cordoba marches into Estrameduras. We quickly send out our scouts to find out in which direction Cordoba plans to march from there. If he chooses to go towards Castille in order to break up our siege, we would have no choice but to negotiate for peace and settle with just one province. But luckily, Cordoba takes his army to Andalusia instead, that should give us the time we need to capture Madrid.
The Hanseatic League pays another 81D in indemnity, this time to Hesse. Those allies of ours has turned out to be so useless. We just have to leave this alliance as soon as we have the possibility to join a better one, hopefully with France.

12/5
Cordoba arrives in Andalusia and lays siege on Cadiz.

17/5
When we assault the walls of Madrid for the fourth time, the defenders no longer can resist us. The city is ours! We now stand with four armies in Castille, Jafars (6175, 837), Suwaidas (2621, 167), Anabas (2195) and Nasiryahs (2585). The incompetent Suwaida (he won only one battle and that was when he heavily outnumbered the enemy) is deprived of his command and his soldiers are now part of Jafars army.

20/5
With the Spanish capital in our hands we can now force the Spaniards to accept an humiliating peace. We demand Gibraltar (because it is ours by right) and The Canary Islands (because the King needs a vacation, wars really makes him nervy), and they have no choice but to accept.
Once again our brave, victorious armies, with the help of Allah, has won a glorious victory. All that is left now is to take the well-fortified Toledo with its rich gold-mines and then Granada will be united again.
Even though we no longer fight the Spaniards our alliance is still at war with Kurpfalz as well as Helvetia. We try to make white peaces with them, but they refuse. Very well, it's not that very much fighting is going on so we just have to wait for a standstill-peace instead.

2/6
Send some missionaries to the Canary Islands to convert the infidels and we also arrange a royal marriage with the Ottoman Empire.

18/6
We expanded our trade post on Jamaica and we now have 30 men there to trade with the natives.

2/8
Our missionaries did a good job, the population on the Canary Islands are now true believers in Islam.

18/8
There's a great war in the Mid-East, Persia (the Mamelucks, Georgia, Crimea) declares war on Iraq (the Ottomans, Algeria, Tripolitania, Tunisia).

24/8
Russia (Denmark, Pskov) declares war on the Kazan-khanate.

Summary:

The first 11 years of king Zueidinas glorious reign has been successful above expectations. We have fought two wars against the great power Spain and been victorious both the times. We now have four times as many provinces as we had in 1492 (and we have also established a trade post in the New World).
Our annual income is now up to 43D.
We have expanded our trade continuously over the years and now have five merchants in Andalusia, Tago and Genoa.
Inflation is up to 5%.
We have arranged royal marriages with Maroc, Tunisia and the Ottoman Empire and we have improved our relations with France (after the last war the relation is -19).
We have lost 50283 men infantry (38537 in combat, 11746 of attrition) and 8245 men cavalry (6269 in combat, 1985 of attrition).
Even though we have had great success so far we still have reason to be anxious, our position is far from safe. The total strength of our army is now only 14232 men infantry and 746 men cavalry. If Spain would choose to strike down upon us with all its power we would have a very hard time withstand them, especially since our present alliance don't seem to be very much to count on. But at least we have five years to strengthen our position.

The standing in victory points is as follows:
Country Military Economic Diplomacy Total
France 131 13 21 165
Spain -78 116 49 87
Granada 69 6 8 83

Now, please let me hear your opinions. Was it to much details?

You're right about that not-annexing part. But it takes human to come out of the war victorious. If i remember correctly, there are 2 Spanish provinces without fortresses. You can force favourable peace treaty just by sending some troops there. AI doesn't think of that, instead sieges (mostly) Cadiz and keeps doing it until they get annexed.

I know. I've seen the AI stay alive for quite a bit too though. Once even till 1700 (when I stopped my game) and they never looked like stopping to exist. They won every war with Spain and always got indemnities :D

Well, I thought that maybe it would be to long to post in just one thread. But if I go on with this AAR I'll use only one thread to post the next part. BTW, do you want to read more?

The glory of the Moors, a Granada AAR. Part III, 1502-1517

Here's the next part of my AAR, no screenshots yet but I'm working to find a solution to that, so hopefully there will be some in the future.

1502

1/1
The war is over and it's now time to start developing our nation, improve our diplomatic relations and, of course, prepare for the liberation of Toledo. We take a good look at the new maps we found in the Royal Library in Madrid, to see if we can find a suitable place for another trade post and there it is, a small island called Martinique.

7/7
The settler we sent to Martinique succeeded and we now have a trade post there.
We send a flattering letter to the king of France, slightly improving our relations, now -14.

12/12
We want more trade posts and thus send another settler, this time to Parana.

16/12
The Kazan-Khanate makes peace with Russia, paying them 131D in war indemnity.

1503

3/1
Our main objective right now is to make France a good friend of ours so we just keep sending these flattering letters, again slightly improving our relations (-5).

26/5
Iraq offers 250D and Kirkuk to Crimea in exchange for peace and Crimea accepts the deal.

3/6
Scotland makes peace with Spain. Scotland gets hold of Holland.

1/7
A standstill-peace with Kurpfalz is arranged.

1/8
We learn how to use artillery support on the battlefield. (Weapons tech 4).

11/8
The Mamelucks and Iraq agrees on a status quo-peace.

16/8
Our attempt to establish a trade post in Parana was successful.

10/9
Another flattering letter to France gives our relation another small improvement (3).

1504

1/1
Guess what. We send a flattering letter to France improving our relations a little bit more (10). Now they will soon like us enough to let us join their alliance.

21/1
We are getting really tired of this so called war we are having with Helvetia so we send one of our diplomats with an offer for a white peace and they accept.

9/4
The Ottomans receive Kurdistan from Persia in exchange for peace.

30/4
The Spaniards are not doing very well right now. This time they have to give up Sardinia to the Papal-state in order to get peace.

7/5
We expanded our trade post in Martinique.

1505

1/1
Our annual income is just not large enough to make us ready for the next war. The King and I discuss this matter and I decide it's time to go to the Bank of Granada and get some extra money. I send five of my servants and order each of them to take a 200D loan. When the King realize that I'm actually going to loan 1000D, all at the same time, he stares at we with astonishment written all over his face. We'll never be able to pay back so much money, we'll go bankrupt, he says. No, of course we won't be able to pay it back, just the thought of us being able to collect 1000D in five years is ridiculous, I tell him. But don't you worry, I've everything figured out. When the time comes for us to pay back all our loans we simply tell the bank that we don't have any money. I mean what can they do? After all you're the King, aren't you?
The King, as usual, can't withstand my brilliant rhetorics and we now have 1000D to spend.
First of all we send personal gifts to France, greatly improving our relations (53) and to Maroc (a former vassal we hope) with the same result, our relations now up to (3).
Then we begin to reinforce the fortress in Gibraltar and finally we order two new armies to be recruited. One in Sierra Nevada (6000, 2000, 20) and one in Andalusia (7000, 1000, 10).

3/1
Iraq makes peace with Persia, paying 121D in indemnity.

25/2
The Hanseatic League (still our ally) once again humiliates themselves when they makes peace with Poland giving away Western Pommerania, Bremen and 44D.

1/3
We can't stay in this alliance anymore. The disgrace of our allies soon will infect us too, in the eyes of the other countries. We summon the Hanseatic ambassador and let him know that our participation in this alliance from now on is history.
We then send a message to France asking them if they would let us join their alliance (already including Savoy, the Papal-state, Scotland, Lorraine, Kleve) and they agree to it. At last, all our flattering letters and gifts to the French king have paid off.

4/5
We start building 4 more transports in Andalusia.

9/5
Our trade post in Martinique is now up to level 3.

7/11
We start recruiting even more troops (9000, 1000) in Andalusia.

1506

27/1
Navarre is now a vassal to England.

18/5
We expand our trade post in Jamaica (level 4).

4/7
Now, the time has finally come for us to take back Toledo and unite Granada once and for all!
We declare war on Spain and France, Scotland, Kleve join us, Lorraine and the Papal-state dishonours the alliance while Savoy is already at war with Spain
Spain also activates their alliance and Poland, Helvetia, Kurpfalz, Hesse, Naples, Cologne are now in the war as well.
We are going in this war with two armies, colonel Fayoums (15653, 0, 30) in Sierra Nevada and colonel Mafras (19198, 4719) in Andalusia. (you may wonder what happened to colonel Jafar and Anaba from the last war, well you see the King has this paranoia about his officers plotting against him, therefore he changes the commanding officers of his armies every now and then).
Fayoum is ordered to take Toledo and Mafra to take Castille and, as usual the unfortified Estrameduras on the way.
We also recruit a small army (1000) in Gibraltar to see if we can take control of the Baleares as well.
There are yet no signs of any Spanish troops, perhaps they are all busy fighting Savoy.

30/7
Mafra marches in to Estrameduras and immediately moves on to Castille.

1/8
We receive an update of the war situation from our allies:
Cordoba (28006) is on his to France.
An Halvetian army (45165) is besieging Lyonnais.
The French is feverishly recruiting new troops while two armies, one (20605) and the other (21978) under La Palice is marching south from northern France.
In Holland, 9000 Scots are fighting 9000 men from Hesse while Spanish armies are moving in from the Hague (15840) and Friesen (3960).
There are also armies on the march from Kurpfalz, a huge one (51160) under van Sickingen, Cologne and Kleve.

9/8
Fayoum, now (14913, 0, 30) arrives in Toledo and lays siege to the city.
Our scouts report the presence of 4110 Spanish soldiers in Murcia, nothing to worry about.

5/9
Mafra (17445, 4369) arrives in Castille and we're now besieging Madrid, again, the citizens must be pretty used by now.
Colonel Azzer is put in command of our new (1000) army in Gibraltar.

1/10
A new update from our allies:
Cordoba seems to be heading for Kleves where Düsseldorf is already besieged by large forces from Kurpfalz, Hesse and Cologne. France has gathered an army (32670) in Ile de France but La Palice has lost a battle to the Helvetian army in Lyonnais.

16/10
Azzer is boarding our fleet who then set sails for The Baleares.
The Spanish army in Murcia is suddenly gone, perhaps they to boarded a fleet.

7/11
Düsseldorf has fallen to Cordoba and Spain waste no time but annexes Kleve.

26/11
Our fleet arrives to the Baleares just to find out that there's some 3000 Spanish soldiers stationed on the island. No use trying to land our troops there so we set sails for the Gulf of Almeira instead.
We spot a Spanish army (10782) in Aragonia and one in Leon (6736).

14/12
The Army from Leon marches into Estrameduras and the province is now in Spanish hands.

24/12
The Spaniards are landing 3878 cavalry on the Canary Islands and they are met by our army (2235) there.

1507
9/1
The Spanish cavalry have now completely destroyed our army on the Canary Islands.
The latest news from the war in France:
The French province of Luxembourg is now under siege by no less than 116000 enemy troops.
The Helvetian army now down to (21587) has stopped sieging Lyonnais and is now moving north, rampaging the French countryside.
La Palise (28514) is also heading north while Cordoba and another Spanish army is going south.

21/1
Azzer (961) lands in Murcia and then starts marching to Estrameduras.
We start recruiting 5000 new troops in Andalusia.

13/3
Azzer is now in control of Estrameduras

16/3
For the second time Mafra is charging the walls of Madrid and this time he's unstoppable. Mafra did an excellent job in this siege, in two attempts to storm the walls he only lost 817 infantry and 164 cavalry so his army is now (16628, 4205).
As we are by now very familiar with the streets of Madrid we quickly take a walk to the Royal Library where we are met by the principal librarian already waiting for us with all the latest maps ready. We examine the maps and find out that Spain have discovered a new nation of heathens in the New World, the Aztecs. We also find a nice little island, Curacao, that seems like a good place for our next trading post.
Our next order to Mafra is to take Valencia.

17/3
Yet another update on the war:
A French army (16442) is now in Helvetia besieging Zürich.
The huge army in Luxembourg are now trying to breach the walls.

26/3
Colonel Adrar is given the command over our new (5000) army in Andalusia.

2/4
Mafra arrives in Valencia and is laying siege to its minimal fortress with only 5000 men in the garrison.

12/4
Helvetia makes peace with France paying 141D in indemnity.
A large Spanish army (25600) shows up in Aragonia, where are they heading?

23/4
The French now report that they have lost Luxembourg to Kurpfalz and that Cordoba is in Lyonnais with a huge army (56972) marching south. This could be really bad news for us and we pray to Allah that he's not coming towards us.

29/5
The Spanish army in Aragonia has now reached Estrameduras but then, instead of marching to Castille to liberate their capital or to Toledo to raise our siege they are ordered back north again.

1/6
French makes peace with Hesse (status quo) and with Cologne (who has to pay 250D to France).

10/8
After almost exactly 11 months of siege Toledo surrenders to colonel Fayuom, now (12070, 0, 30). The Spaniards immediately offers us Toledo and Murcia in exchange for peace. The King, of course, wants us to accept but with no Spanish troops in sight and Valencia under siege, I decide that we don't accept their offer. If there's going to be peace in this war, it'll be on our terms.

1/9
Fayoum joins Mafra in the siege of Valencia and together they try to storm the walls but the Spanish defenders here are much tougher than their compatriots in Madrid and they quite easily repel our assault.
The supply situation in Valencia isn't very good so we order Mafra back to Castille to wait there until Fayoums cannons have done their work on the walls.

16/9
We are informed that van Sickingen and his 8601 men from Kurpafalz is besieging Pau, in the French province Béarn.

1/10
Our spies tells us that the peasants in Roussillion, tired of Spains constant wars, are now revolting. Excellent!

20/10
The settler we sent to Curacao failed to establish a trade post.

1/12
Allah is good to us, we receive a report from our ally Savoy and it turns out that Cordoba wasn't after us, instead he is now in Nice besieging the city. However he only commands a small army (9474) and nobody seems to know anything about what happened to the rest of his army. The Savoyans aren't worried though, they have a large army of 56972 men under Bayard on its way to Nice from Savoy.

13/12
We make a new attempt to establish a trade post in Curacao.
Mafra is ordered into Valencia again.

28/12
Mafra arrives in Valencia and again joins Fayoum in an attempt to storm the walls but these Spaniards really know how to fight and again we fail. The defenders are now down to only 1167 men, so next time I'm sure we'll succeed. Mafra marches back to Castille.

1508

16/1
France aren't doing very well right now, an ashamed French diplomat informs us that Béarn now is controlled by Kurpfalz.

12/2
We order Adrar (4751) to reinforce Fayoum in Valencia.
It's also reported that Cordoba was severely beaten in Nice and that he's retreating to Savoy with the remnants of his army (2305) with Bayard (38575) chasing him.
At the same time 31073 men from Spain and Cologne are laying siege to Besancon in Franche Comte (currently controlled by the French).

18/4
For the third time Mafra marches into Valencia and join Fayoum and Adrar in another charge against the walls.

25/4
At last, Valencia is now in our hands.

28/4
Now it's time for peace. Again we humiliate the Spaniards, demanding Toledo, Valencia and 250D in war indemnity. They humbly accept our offer but since they don't have 250D we have to settle with what they got, 69D.
Oh, what a glorious day! It took us 16 years but now we have what we have always dreamed about, a united Granada.
We stand with three armies in Valencia, Fayoums (7538, 0, 30), Mafras (8987, 2677) and Adrars (4727). Adrar was severely wounded in the siege (he lost both a leg and an eye) so his soldiers join Mafras army, now (13714, 2677).
We are still at war with Helvetia but offer them a white peace and they accept.
France is still at war with Spain, Poland, Kurpfalz, Naples and Savoy is still at war with Spain. (Not that we care, let the Christians fight).
We decide our next goal is to improve our relations with Maroc enough to be able to make them our vassal and we start by sending them a flattering letter. This improves our relation (46).

4/6
Update from our allies:
Franche Comte are now back in Spanish hands but Roussillon is now controlled by the rebels.
La Palice (17537) is now trying to take back Luxembourg from Kurpfalz while 6010 men from Kurpfalz is besieging Champagne.
The Scots also reports that Holland is revolting.

16/7
We now have a trade post in Curacao.

4/9
Hannover is now a vassal to Saxony.
We send a flattering letter to Maroc (61).

13/11
Kurpfalz makes a good peace with France receiving Béarn and Luxembourg in the peace negotiations.

19/11
Cyrenacia is now a vassal to the Ottomans.

18/12
Spain makes a status quo-peace with the Hanseatic League and they also makes peace with France receiving 71D in indemnity.

21/12
Another flattering letter to Maroc improves our relation (76).

1509

1/1
Our missionaries did a good job on the Canary Islands but some stubborn Christians took refuge in the mountains. These infidels, still loyal to the king of Spain have grown in strength (2486) and are now revolting, taking control of the unfortified and undefended island.
We start recruiting a new army (3000, 1000) in Gibraltar to quell the rebellions.
We also decide it's time to expand our trade post in Martinique into a colony and send away a settler.

5/1
Hesse is now a vassal to Kurpfalz.
We are also informed that the Spanish province of Flandres now is controlled by rebels.

3/3
Our new army is ready in Gibraltar, colonel Husein is put in charge.

13/3
Tuscany is now a vassal to France

10/5
Nasiryah, a courageous young Andalusian nobleman has built a ship and offers to sail out and explore the seas in the name of king Zueidina and Granada.

1/7
There's a rebellion in Valencia but Mafra easily defeats the rebel scum on the battlefield but annoying enough, forces still loyal to Spain in the city of Valencia, surprised and overwhelmed our garrison there and it's now controlled by them. Well, Mafra will soon have all their heads on poles.
Our colonization of Martinique was successful, now we'll just keep building it up until we have a city there.
We get the news that the Spaniards now have control of Roussillon again.

20/8
Husein lands on the Canary Islands but the infidel rebels fight like zealots and Husein is forced to withdraw back to the ships. The rebels are now down to 2005 men.

29/10
Hungary (Austria) declares war on the Ottomans (Iraq, Algeria, Tripolitania, Tunis, Cyrenacia).

26/11
Our fleet returns back to Andalusia with Huseins army. We pay a visit to the legendary hero from the first Spanish war, Husein, who still lives on his estates in Andalusia just to make sure this new incompetent colonel isn't a relative to him. He isn't and therefore he's no longer a colonel, his troops join colonel Azzers army instead (2828, 780).

8/12
We send a settler to expand our trade post in Curacao.

1510

1/1
The day the King had worried about is here, it's time for us to repay our loans. I tell the King I'll deal with this problem. I contact the bank and tell them that we just don't have any money to give them. Then we have no choice but to extend the loans for another five years, with a much higher interest, the say. That's fine, I say (in your dreams, I think) and I then leave the bank.
We send another settler to Martinique and then we send a flattering letter to Maroc, improving our relation (104). After that we have 8D left and I order our ministry of finance to put all of our monthly income in research. He points out that if we do that we'll lose 10D every month and that we'll go bankrupt within two months. Yes, I'm very well aware of that, that's the whole point, I tell him.

1/3
With 0D in the public treasury, a monthly income of -10D and no more loans available the state of Granada is declared bankrupt. There's great unrest among the people (-3 stability loss down to 0) and among the soldiers (morale down from strong to disciplined) but all our loans are now gone and inflation is down to 8%.
We now plunge all our monthly income (except 1-2D) into increasing stability.

5/6
Our trade post in Curacao is expanded.

6/6
The settler we sent to Martinique has successfully arrived.
We are told by the French that Kurpfalz have lost Béarn to rebel forces.

14/6
Mafra recaptures Valencia and the few rebels that survived the assault will soon wish they hadn't.

25/7
Hungary makes peace with the Ottomans, demanding 80D in indemnity.

19/8
Aden is now a vassal to Oman.

27/8
Würtemberg is now a vassal to Austria.

1511
1/1
Stability is now up to 1.
We send another settler to Martinique.

9/2
Baden is now a vassal to Helvetia.

19/2
Lorraine leaves our alliance to become a vassal to Austria.
The French informs us that Genoa now is part of our alliance.

22/5
It's time for us to strengthen our ties with the rest of the true Muslim-world (not those bloody Shiites of course) and we therefore arrange royal marriages with Algeria, Iraq, Tripolitania and the Crimean-Khanate.

7/6
Our colony in Martinique now has some 300 inhabitants.

14/9
Brandenburg is now a vassal to The Hanseatic League.

1/10
Stability now up to 2.

3/11
Spain makes peace with Savoy who pays 106D in indemnity.
We are also informed that Spain has lost Artois and Hainaut to rebel forces and that the French province Kent has revolted and Dover is now being sieged by the rebels.

1512

1/1
We send another settler to Martinique.

1/2
King Zueidana informs me that he has (without my knowledge) personally financed an addition to the fortification in Toledo and that it's now complete.

1/4
We are shocked yet happy when we receive the news that the rebellions in Artois and Flandres wasn't just another ordinary rebellion but instead part of a national liberation movement and that this movement now have declared Burgundy an independent country. This new country consists of Franche Comte, Flandres, Artois and Luxembourg (the capital).
Spain is of course eager to regain their lost provinces and Poland, Helvetia, Hesse and Cologne intervene to help them.

6/6
The settler we sent to Martinique was lost at sea.

1/7
The people are happy again and our stability is now back to normal, 3. But we still have trouble with the soldiers morale and that's a problem because there's no use to send forces to wipe out the rebels on the Canary Islands as long as the morale isn't on top.

16/7
Thüringen is now a vassal to Bavaria.

22/9
The French ambassador informs us that all their troubles with rebels in their English provinces now are solved.
We send a flattering letter to Maroc and our relations are now up to (130).

1513

1/1
We send a settler to Martinique.

2/1
There seems to be some disturbance among the Christians, involving some guy named Martin Luther. The Catholics talk about this new form of Christianity in terms of Protestantism and they're really upset and worried. Suits us just fine!

21/3
We keep up our correspondence with Maroc sending another flattering letter (145).

7/6
We expanded our colony in Martinique.

26/9
Burgundy makes peace with Cologne ceding Artois and paying 250D in indemnity.

10/12
Burgundy makes a status quo-peace with Hesse.

12/12
We send another settler to Martinique.

1514

2/1
We start recruiting new soldiers (1000, 1000) in Andalusia and send a flattering letter to Maroc (170).

25/3
Tripolitania is now a vassal to Iraq.

18/5
Martinique now has some 500 inhabitants.

22/8
We just keep these flattering letters coming and with great results, our relation with Maroc is now (194).

20/10
We can now ask Maroc to become our vassals and so we do but they refuse and our relation drops to (165).

1515
1/1
We send an flattering and apologetic letter to Maroc and it works, relations go up to (192).
Another settler sets course for Martinique.

28/1
King Zueidina is making a speech to the people of Granada about the necessity for a small nation like ours to have a strong army in order to defend itself against big powermongering nations like Spain. And this speech really touches the heart of our citizens (no big surprise, after all it was I who wrote it) and a new army (5000, 1000) is created.

1/3
The morale of our armies are now back at full strength. At last we'll be able to get rid of the infidel rebels on the Canary Islands.

3/6
Tunisia is now a vassal to Algeria.

6/6
We succeed in expanding our colony in Martinique.
Azzer (4136, 1828) lands on the Canary Islands

21/6
Azzer finally finds and engages the rebels on the battlefield but he loses and again are our army forced to flee back to the ships. This is getting really annoying. But at least he managed to kill off some rebels and there's now only 698 remaining.

24/7
Russia (Moldavia, Denmark, Pskov) declares war on the Kazan-Khanate.

1/9
Valencia is revolting again, but colonel Mafra knows for sure how to deal with this sort of scum.

15/10
Azzer returns in great shame to Andalusia, but he'll soon be back on the Canary Islands, as a regular soldier in colonel Idriss army.

13/12
We make a new offer to Maroc, asking them if they don't want to be our vassals but they refuse again, relations dropping to (170). They just don't know what's best for them.
We send a settler to Martinique, if this one succeeds Martinique will grow into a town.

1516

20/1
Idriss lands on the Canary Islands and this time the rebels are defeated.
The Kazan-Khanate makes peace with Russia, paying 112D in indemnity.

21/1
Send another flattering and even more apologetic letter to Maroc and relations are now up to (191).

11/4
The French let us know that we have a new member of our alliance, the Knights of St John. We are not very pleased to hear that, those knights have always been fierce enemies to all the members of the true faith. We'll never help them fight any wars, that's for sure (but of course we don't say anything about that to our friends from France).

12/5
Nasiryah who has, up till now, being busy shipping troops to the Canary Islands and bringing back those who failed, now sets sail for Martinique with one warship and one transport.

18/5
Martinique is now a town with a population of 757 people,we start recruiting 3000 infantry to defend the island.

7/10
Nasiryah explores Tobago and Barbados.

12/10
Nasiryah arrives to Martinique and is immediately sent out again to explore the surrounding seas in the area.

1/11
When Idriss put down the rebellion on the Canary Islands some of the rebels escaped up in the mountains, now they return again with another rebellion but this time Idriss put it down quite easily.

17/12
We try to establish a new trade post in Guadelope, a neighbouring island to Martinique.

1517

14/1
Nasiryah explores Maracabio.

16/1
We start building a fortress in Martinique.

5/2
Nasiryah explores Yaraguay.

12/6
Nasiryah explores Amapa.

23/6
The settler we sent to Guadelope failed.

15/9
Nasiryah explores Maroni.

1/10
Once again the Canary Islands revolts and once again Idriss is victorious on the battlefield and drives the rebels back up into the mountains.

27/11
Burgundy makes peace with Poland, paying 123D in indemnity.

Summary:

This was another glorious period in the history of Granada. We have won another war against Spain and have been able to conquer all the four provinces that we have always considered to be ours by right. We now control five provinces on the Iberian Peninsula plus The Canary Islands. In the New World we have one town, Martinique and three trade posts.
Our annual income is now up to 62D.
We keep expanding our trade and now have five traders in Andalusia, Tago, Genoa, Venice and Flandres.
Inflation is up to 13%.
We have also had one state-bankruptcy.
We achieved our diplomatic goal and were able to join an alliance with France. This alliance looks like this, relation in brackets :
France (109), Savoy (-43), Scotland (106), Genoa (-121) and Knights of St John (-176).
We have royal marriages with the following countries:
Maroc (200), Tunisia (103), the Ottoman Empire (31), Iraq (-36), Algeria (-49), Tripolitania (-39) and the Crimea-Khanate (-39).
We have lost 76930 men infantry (48805 in combat, 28125 of attrition) and 11452 men cavalry (7810 in combat, 3642 of attrition).
So, thing looks rather bright for the kingdom of Granada. The total strength of our army is now 28315 men infantry (almost double to what we had in 1502), 4548 men cavalry (six times more than in 1502) and 30 cannons (compared to none in 1502).
Our fleet though, is still very small, just 1 warship and five transports.
The mighty Spain, who we feared a lot have turned out to be no more than a paper tiger. Put if they should stumble upon some competent leaders they may still pose a threat to us.
Having liberated all of Granada, we no longer have a CB against Spain so if we want to expand more our next target would rather be the Mamelucks, those Shiite bastards, but to do that we first have to expand our fleet and raise more armies as well, because the troops we have now better stay in Granada. To do otherwise would be to ask the Spaniards to invade us.
On the diplomatic front our next target will be to make Maroc our vassal. It would also be nice if we, when our current alliance expires, could create a new one, including France but with us as the leaders.

The standing in victory points is as follows:
Country Military Economy Diplomacy Total
Granada 184 31 22 237
France 74 32 78 184
Russia 45 37 66 148

If you're looking for Spain I can inform you that they have dropped down to 17th place with 90 VPs.

Just one question though. Have you tried any sort of diplomatic approach on the Portuguese? And what is their status regarding both your and Spain's alliance?

Pedro

Well, I haven't paid any attention to Portugal since they dishonoured our alliance in 1499. Their relation with us is -104 and their relation with Spain is 107 so I guess that shows where they stand, especially after our annexation of Catalonia. And to make things even worse, they are currently in an alliance with our hated enemy, the Mameluks.

I love a good story about the underdogs triumphing over the so-called overlords, something that almost never happens in most games (Civ II, Imp II, CTPII, AoEII, etc etc etc).

Please do continue.
