Greetings. Its my 1st thread at this forum.

Please answer my question at the title. The game annoys me greatly.

I upgraded to version 1.1. (Does it matter?)

Anyway, the game itself rocks. :)

autosaving monthly is.... annoying. Well, I guess no one has a conclusive answer. I have already uninstalled it and reinstalled it a couple of times...
Is there an option that Im doing something wrong? :<
Oh and btw. There are some cases when the game crashes at a certain point and even if i return to the autosave in order to continue it will crash again at the same point... Does someone have an answer? :<

i not play faster than over normal (only the beginning), but i dont know if thats the reason, but i think not.

Mabye... Again, does someone knows if that's possible? Cause I play on very fast all the time. (although it gets slower than normal when the actions starts... :| )

on a seperate thread people were talking about the game lagging when they played on speeds above normal, and their CPU getting 88% and even 100% used, so maybe crashes are the same way.
try running a game on slow or normal and see if it crashes

That still doesnt explains the last crash I had with Italy at 1939(before 1 September) Well, mabye the "Very Fast" speed was... 2 fast for my PC.
Although its not reasonable. Thanks for the advice. Ill check it out.

PS: whats the name of that thread?

Now Ive seen it... (before you posted that reply. tnx anyway) Nothing new actually. I am defragmenting my system now and at the next time Ill play i will check CPU use percantage and Memory use, and I will lower my game speed. I hope you are right. For some reason I think that my crashes(or at least part of them) arent caused by lags. Please tell me if you have an idea

There's a thread by JPD in the Victoria (or EU2) tech help section. He offers some advice on system optimising. Personally, I turn off as many background services as I can - just make sure you know what they do before you turn them off or you could disable something vital. Turning off wallpapers and any new XP graphical features (buttons etc) also helps a bit.

First reinstall DD , see this how to do it.

Then try Castellon standard advice:

Castellon said:
1) Make sure you have the latest patch for the game.
2) Rename the AVI folder to AVI_back
3) Set the color depth to 16BIT
4) Turn off everything in the background like E-mail/ICQ/Messenger, Virus protection and everything in the system tray beside the clock.
5) Run a Virus check and a Adware/Spybot checker
6) Update your Windows, update your Video card drivers and audio card drivers. Then repeat steps 1-4.

Good luck

Another option to reduce CTD's is to update or re-install the latest graphics and audio drivers for you hardware.

I have yet to CTD, touch wood, since re-installing my sound drivers, prior to that I crashed every time I attempted to play.

It crashes sometimes by the triggering of event or the annexion of some countries.

On one of my last party, the game crashed when I tried to annex Rebublican Spain (who had won the Spanish Civil War) because some Republican units (air, land and sea) remained outside continental Spain. I had to edit my save file, delete the buggers, and reboot to have an annexion without CTD (I know the Royal Navy never laid a finger on these Spanish ships, but I was a bit baffled, because with HoI2 I had not seen this CTD before).
