The game really should provide historical Ship/Tank/Plane design templates

I have all the DLC. I have a lot of hours in HOI4 and have played since 2016. I'm finding it to be a lot of not fun work to personally design all my Ships/Tanks/Planes. Especially when playing as a major nation. The auto-design function I don't find to be fun or interesting or immersive.

I think it would be vastly better and preferable if the game provided historical template designs (at least as examples that you can look at and copy) when you research things. Especially for the major nations which had lots of unique vehicles.

That's the double edged sword of introducing Designers for all the vehicles. It's created new problems that haven't been addressed.

yes,

i saved tables/pages with pre-xpac, pre-defenided models, to just have some reference, because is easy get lost, without any idea where to go...
and just "max everything out" seems too dumb.

For Aircraft i just saved the wiki page that had models list.

Suggestion for "default" aircraft models.

The devs did great work adding up these extra models, but the "default suggestion" is based on the frame, not on role... Also, the drop down list ins't so "organized", theres a a bit of randoness on pictures. Here a suggestion for default...

Game mechanics and limitations prohibit us having historical ship templates even when all the modules are there - i.e. hoi4 battleships can not mount torpedoes for some obscure reasons, in blatant contradistinction to their real counterparts.

Yes, the Ship Designer needs some work. I use the Warships Designer Overhaul mod (out of date sadly) in order to build more accurate looking and feeling ships. The turret system needs reworked too honestly.
