I read some threads that worried me... czechs in Mongolia, Germans conquering Europe all the time.... The game is too easy, just like EU?

I know that the multiplayer game is much more challenging, but I hope that the singleplayer will not turn into a milky run for the Axis or the SU....

I intend to play with my brother, as Germany and Italy. Hopefully we'll take more than 2 months to conquer all Europe....

I'm expecting a lot from this game, mostly from the diplomatic engine. The greatest challenge, in my opinion, is to avoid the war playing as Germany...

You shouldn't have a problem at all avoiding war with Germany as long as you stop after occupying Bohemia and Moravia.

Are u sure about that?

Will the soviets attack when they think they are ready?

What avout the balcanic countries begging for Hitler to intervene against the soviet aggression?

the Germans can not be considered the only threat to peace....

The Soviets would probably invade some of its neighbors, yeah. But assuming you don't take it over, Poland is there as a buffer. Also, the Allies will probably respond poorly to Soviet aggression.

That would be a neat play, actually. Let the Soviets and the Allies get into a war. Then join the Soviets against the Allies and walk all over them.

To easy?

I say play the AI at least at the hardest settings the first game. I mean how many times do you play a game cover to cover. Play no hardest for best experience.

Hopefully, patches will make the AI better and I hope you can edit the .AI files.

... after which you promptly stab the Commie riffraff in the back. Aren't we glad Hitler didn't think of that? ;-)

After reading some of the Russian comments, it does sound like the game is pretty easy, but no doubt they were only playing on a lower difficulty level (Czechoslovakia annexing the USSR and driving divisions as far as Vladivostok?).

Well the Czechs did have a world class army so I could see a human player defesting the USSR on easy.

All the difficulty level does is effect to what extent the AI cheats.

The AI only did one cheat in EU2 that I could remember and that was that the AI fleets gained no attrition at sea. I doubt the AI will cheat much if at all in this game.

The Czech army was not strong.
The simplly Soviet armies have conquered Finland and were in northwest of country.
All battles between them and germans descended there.
I only seized provinces.
The Soviet armies has met only about Moscow.
They were already exhausted by the germans and have lost all aircraft.
I needed only to finish.

At the end of the game I had 46 army divisions.
Germans had - 289

The Czech conqueror.

that was not a cheat....
it was not programmed because the AI could not handle it.
if you want, you can consider it "cheating"... i don't :D :D

The A.I. in EU2 gets less war-exhaustion.

I don't think the A.I. will cheat much in HOI either. But I really hope that the A.I-opponents are tougher than in EU2. And if that means an A.I. using a number of cheats, fine with me. As long as the cheats aren't too many or too obvious.

If you have to play a minor (like Sweden or Belgium) to get a challenging game I doubt I'll spend my money on this game. I mean IMO, the fun (and challenge) in a WW2-game should be to play one of the majors like Germany or the U.S.

IMHO it's far more important that the AI play a good game than how it gets that way.

EU2 was a lot of fun for far more hours than almost anything else I've played, so I'd say the AI was fine :p How it got that way is unimportant.
